Kentucky fans hate Kentucky more than anyone else.

Facts.

UK fans think everyone hates them...ESPN, refs, CNN, Mexican Cartel, car mechanic in Montana. For a program so littered with greatness, I've never witnessed such animosity, fear, insecurity, with any fan base.

I grew up rooted deep with UK basketball. Even deeper with my wife. Have always had mad respect for that program. Enjoy going to Rupp. But I have to say, giving UK fans shit(on here), and watching the melt downs(by some) is pretty ****ing awesome.

I dont hate any team outside of Purdue. And really, I don't hate them. But there is no other team I enjoy beating more, or watching lose.

Do you seek him out to listen to him? I barely hear him. I get he would bother some. Especially someone not a fan.
I don't understand this question, or position. Hes a coach with huge visibility...And well, when he talks, its hard to listen to. Especially when UK wins.

He doesn't bother me anymore than he bothers a large portion of BBN. It has nadda to do with not being a fan.

UK seeks attention...Cal seeks attention. But when ya'll get it, it seems to bother ya'll.

Why?

Its hard to listen to a coach when he never does his weekly contracted radio show, skips post game interviews when they lose(which has been frequent lately), never goes on the major radio shows in Ky, etc...

I think it’s going to take an afterlife contract to get him to do those things.

I think UK fans are the best part about UK.

We have spunk.
Actually, I do agree. MOF, this can be said about most teams. We always have the want to, to judge everyone by a few. I have rarely met a UK fan I did not like. And tbh, even a Purdue fam. Basically we are all the same....We just happen to root for different teams.

With that being said.....................BBN is a different animal to an extent. As I said, ya'll want the title as "best this, best that, etc....We are this or that. And that is fine. Great argument for all that. Its weird---ya'll want the attention, but then cry about always getting attention. Well when you're UK, I mean you're gonna get that attention. Especially when you are basically the only program in your conference with extensive tradition. Arkanasas loses in the first round---Meh...Or Bama, or AU, or basically anyone not named UK, and well, its no big deal. After all, those teams have very little tradition. So its no biggie.

But UK losing in first/2nd round? Well its bigger news. And why? Well, duh.

Example---If UK goes 9-3 in football, its big news. But if Alabama goes 9-3, well.....its big news too----but for the opposite reason.

Truly my ponly real big gripe with BBN----You want attention---then bitch when you get it.

It’s pretty simple. UK's fanbase is just bigger… .by a lot.

The fans that complain about the attention, are not the sme fans that crave the attention. You made it sound like it's the same fans talking out of both sides of their mouths. That’s not the case.

When you're UK basketball, Alabama football, apparently the Dallas Cowboys (not sure why), or the Celtics, you are at, or very near, the top in most categories, so it can't be far fetched to understand why those fans want to brag about being the best at everything.

If UK was a middle of the road program, the fans wouldn't be so passionate about being the best at this or that.

Just a couple years ago, Alabama fans were up in arms about Saban not beating teams by big enough margins. This is a program that has won what, 7 titles under Saban? Heck, they won the title the year before these complaints and they actually played in the playoff, yet here the fans are, trashing Saban.

It’s not just UK fans.

1. Never said it was just UK fans. MOF, I actually said---"this can be said about all fan bases"

2. The fans that complain are on here---its who I am referencing. They, and you, know who they are.

3. BBN is huge....Yep. Probably only rivaled by Indiana. Both fan bases are very, very large.

I pretty much said everything you said, sans the part---"Its not just UK.". When you have the hardware, history, etc...of a UK, or an Alabama(football), attention finds you. No need to seek it out. Unfortunately, IMO, ya'll have a coach that , well, brings a lot of shit on ya'll...

Bunch of divas.
People are gonna talk about ya...Duke, UNC, UK....shit even Indiana. Shit that happens at those programs, makes the news. UK going 9-16 is news....Why? I dunno maybe because UK hadn't had a losing since , what---1989? Same when it happened to Duke...Same when it happened to UNC. UK losing as a 2-seed, in the 1st round, will and did, make more waves than Purdue and UVA losing as 1 seeds to 16's---Why? Well because its Kentucky. When you have the tradition of Kentucky, you're gonna get attention. And regardless of what it is. Its part of being "King of the Mountain."-----Well sorta of King. No longer #1 in wins, NCAA wins..But ya'll do have that winning percentage thingy... ;)

Are you really on top of the mountain?

Most titles---UCLA (11)
Most FF's---UNC (21)
Most NCAA wins--tied with UNC (131)
Most wins---Kansas(2,385)

;)
Unbiased.

Just so we're on the same page, what has been said by UK fans that indicates they don't want the attention?

I'm on RR almost daily and I think we can agree That's the hotbed for UK fans online, but I don't ever see anyone complaining about the attention UK gets. But maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying.

Indiana has a large fanbase? One that rivals the BBN? I never thought IU had an above average sized fanbase.

But they’ve been a middle of the road program over the last several years. I’m sure you can see how it’d be annoying to see people beating their chests and claiming superiority over everyone after going 9-16 or winning 1 tourney game in 4 years. And pretending to be on top of the world while simultaneously calling for Calipari’s head.

I’d say a lot of the same people who crave attention also complain when they get it. I’ve been branded a UK hater and taken a lot of heat over the years, and I don’t think my approach toward Kentucky is any different than most Kentucky fans’ approach toward KU. In fact, a lot of them are way more vicious toward KU. If I talk about Kentucky more than some other programs, it’s because they have the most posters and a ton of attention-seeking threads. Doesn’t help that Rafters people talk a loooooot of shit on everyone else, with KU at or near the top of that list. I don’t have a lot of respect for insecure hypocrites who can’t take what they dish (speaking mostly about Rafters).

That said, I realize that it’s a huge fanbase full of different types of people. Naturally, the loudest are the most heard. I think most Kentuckians are solid people.

Let the UK fans leave this board and this place would look like a ghost town with the few fair weather fans left to try to have anything exciting to talk about. Especially with their own programs. Yawnorama.

Noob, half the UK posters disappeared for the entire 2021 season. Traffic was fine. It would be a ghost town in the offseason regardless.

Guess you’d know something about being fairweather, seeing as you’re nowhere to be seen when your predictions of dominance go up in smoke. 🤣

Most UK fans on this board are good spirited. But there are ones like you that bring the stigma of RR over here and discourage other posters from staying active. But off-season aside, the board wouldn't lose anything exciting to talk about if it were to lose UK fans. If I think of excitement in CB, I don’t think of UK.

"I'd say a lot of the same people who crave attention, also complain when they get it". This sentence, the way you put it, seems to appear like you're guessing. Do you have an example of what you're talking about? Are you going off Scotty's squabbles with Della? If so, that’s not really fair.

Every fanbase has their nuts (not saying Scotty is a nut), but when I go to other boards, there are like 4 dudes and the conversations end quickly. There is no other fanbase as active and deep as the BBN.

UK fans dominate this board and Rupp Rafters never stops, hundreds of posters come through there even in the summer months. My point is, it's a really loud fanbase.

As far as UK's prestige given the downward trend since the 2019 E8 overtime loss, well, it's not pretty, but 3 years doesn’t take away from what UK has done for over 100 years. Plus, find me a publication that shows UK isn’t ranked as the #1 program of all time, I've never seen anyone rank someone else above UK. Plus, KU, uNC, duke, IU and UCLA have all had their fair share of down years.

To me, when I look at what UK fans are posting these days, I don't see a lot of chest thumping and swelling up, certainly not from me, but, there are going to be fans that do still talk smack, I just haven't seen anyone talk smack, then get upset at the attention they get. To me, that’s not a UK fan thing, those people would do that whether they were UK fans, or fans of any other school. It's just who they are as people.

UK fans are having a hard time with today's reality. UK for decades past were content that though they would hold no real bragging rights in other sports they would lead the SEC as the conference bell cow on the national CBB stage.

However, the paradigm has shifted. UK is no longer able to back the hype in CBB past the preseason predictions. They field inexperienced teams that struggle in the early season and fail to mature enough to be a force to reckon with in postseason.

They still spend more than anyone in the conference and probably the nation, but the difference is not enough to offset the quality coaching from others. This leaves UK fans feeling empty and frustrated.

I personally think they need to recruit a few 5 star players, but use their money to buy the best transfers on the market if they want to recapture their past glory.

Like I said, there are a ton of fans out there, which makes it hard to generalize. But sometimes an idea will catch on and spread like wildfire, at least within an online community. For example, half the posters at Rafters (plus some here like ol’ Bert) truly think the NCAA and SEC refs are conspiring against Kentucky, as laughable as that is. There’s a persecution complex that I don’t see in other fanbases.

And I have no problem with having pride in your program’s history, but all-time status and the current state of the program are two different conversations. Imagine a Yale football fan boasting about having more titles than Alabama. Or for a less extreme example, what if UCLA fans invaded this board circa 2019 to tell everyone they were the GOAT? You’d probably be a little amused and annoyed, right? But they could say the same thing you are….”we have 11 MFing titles, rank highly in all major categories, never had a long stretch of irrelevance, etc…who cares about recent years?”
