Damn, when did Illinois fans become the new Iowa fans? I thought Purdue and Michigan fans were confident (we are) but damn. It's like Illinois fans forgot what Ayo meant to them last year (not to mention the luxury of having Georgi to spell Kofi and a 55% 3P shooter in Williams).

Another poster that didn’t watch Illinois/Michigan game last year.

Williams is still there.

@gowolverines8 @NC_Trojan10

Kofi won’t be playing at Illinois next season huh?

Did you watch the NCAA tournament? It’s where Illinois got face fvcked by a mid major

Congrats on the SECOND PLACE FINISH and second rd knockout

Another Illinois fan that didn’t watch the NCAA tournament
Peaked too early and won the BTT. Also had the most wins in regular season- usually that means you win the regular season? Let’s not pretend like Illinois wasn’t ranked #2 in the nation heading into the tournament. The team had something to prove in the BTT because of the ‘Michigan way’ and that didn’t help for NCAA.

With Kofi Illinois will be really good again. The peak would be a one seed, the floor would be a 4 seed.

Without Kofi still will be a top 25 team. Will pull off upsets because of the three and will lose game should win because of front court.

UK's Graf said UK couldn't compete with Illinois' NIL offer. A lot of crow to be eaten.

Nice, you may finish top 5 in the conference now lol
I don’t understand how people don’t understand that Kofi was more valuable to last years team than Ayo. Ayo was the better player but his replacements are much better than Kofi’s.

Something to prove ?
Like getting knocked out by a home town mid major with a 6’9 white boy who punked Kofi like a bitch ?

Maybe Kofi should get his ass in the gym instead of announcing that he’s announcing that he’s coming back to the school he plays for

Fvcking douchebag attention whore loser

Don’t disagree with you here. That game costed Kofi from playing in the G-League next year after a solid BTT.

Clearly that game was their super bowl and I thought we were in trouble for the tournament the second I saw the frickin Kobe pose.

Illinois fans: one game tournament sample sizes don’t mean anything!

Also Illinois fans: We beat Michigan though so that means everything!
Michigan fans: Single elimination tournaments mean everything
Also Michigan fans: Except the BTT

You capitalized on a nice draw in the tournament and Illinois lost to a solid team that outplayed us. You also got your shit pushed in on a game without our best player that you and your fans were acting like would be a dub (some fans even saying a 20 point win), and you lost early in the BTT. Both are true.

If Illinois started treating ncaa tournament games like the super bowl maybe it wouldn’t be 15 years since you guys last made it out of the round of 32.

Kofi had 21 and 9 in that game. His defense in that game wasn't great, but him not making the g-league is bigger than that.

I think full body of work matters. It’s your fans that keep saying one game doesn’t matter while infinitely referencing the one game between Michigan and Illinois.

That’s fair but when you had Bruce Weber recruiting his own players and John Groce coaching there’s bigger issues. Guys you have to let us pound our chest on something. Have you seen our football program or what it was like to be Illinois basketball fan since ‘05?

In the game of trolling, I think the H2H is more important. From a realistic perspective, I'd rather have the E8, but I also think that the Loyola game wasn't reflective of how good Illinois actually was.

It was before your time but we’ve already lived through Illinois fans here overhyping their coach and program when Groce went 23-13 in year 1. It was marvelously wrong. And now the new crop is here doing the same with Underwood.

Of course not. You play Loyola 10 times you probably win like 8 of them.

We lost our best ****ing player had the toughest 8 seed draw with a team that should of been a fvcking 6 seed than also drew the toughest 4 seed and still made the elite 8 gfy with your trash take

Not going to lie I probably would’ve been in that bunch after NCAA tournament. Clearly recruiting wasn’t shown yet and by year 3 it was painfully obvious. The difference is this is year 5 and it’s happened multiple years.

Livers was your best player? I would’ve guessed 4th but obviously Smith and Dickinson were more important.

We played 10th ranked Loyola in the second round according to KenPom.

UCLA wasn’t ranked higher than them. Congrats on beating scrubs on your way to an Elite 8. Nobody was impressed.

I think it's safe to say that Underwood is in a league above Groce. Maybe 2. He just landed 2 top 100 guards for 2022 which makes 7 since he's been here. Weber and Groce landed 6 from 2004-2017. He's going to have a tourney team for what should've been the third year in a row.

Who can you legitimately put above him in conference if we have the season we should (I know that's an assumption).

Painter
Izzo
Juwan likely
I think Holtmann is up there, but I think he'll finish below Underwood again.

He's at least top 5 in a conference full of really good coaches, and potentially top 3 or 4.

Fvck it. WE'RE ON AN UPSWING. Laughing

Our full body of work was better too.

Unfortunate we ran into 10th ranked Loyola, according to KenPom, in the second round.

Michigan lost to the 13th ranked team in the elite 8. Congrats on having an easy bracket?

Illinois is obviously going to be way more formidable with Kofi, but I’m pretty interested to see how he does against game plans entirely focused on getting him in foul trouble.

Claims to not care about stats, cites KenPom for an argument. lol
Oh, so you want me to use eye test only for these two teams?

When they were on the court together one team looked very suspect, and the other that was up by 20ish wasn’t even playing their 20 ppg all-American. Lol

Teams tried that last year. He got in foul trouble in like 5 games all year.

Unfortunately for other teams he doesn’t have to foul to contest and alter shots.
