I’d rank Elite 8’s and conference titles similarly. If you’re one of the last 4 teams or beyond, that’s more impressive than winning our conference.

I believe it’s two separate things and what makes CBB great. The team that is excellent over a 3/4 month period is likely the better team than the one who won 3/4 games over a few weeks. Having said that I think most would prefer to win say 20 games between November and March and then 2/3/4+ games in the tournament. Ohio State was clearly better than UCLA last season IMO but I personally would have preferred being a last 4 in and making it to the FF as opposed to being a #2 seed and losing in round 1.

I don't disagree. The reason being is that 95% of people aren't people like guys on this forum who like tracking this sport as closely as us. Being in a F4 puts your program in a spotlight. Teams like George Mason in 2006 are still talked about because of the tournament. It's purely a perception thing. That team wasn't one of the 4 best teams, but because of the stage it was on, its hype was amplified.

Yeah, Sampson is a good coach with a solid history. I think Underwood will end up with a better resume, but I don’t take issue with that.

The Crean argument is dumb. He’s clearly over his head in a power conference. MM level coach that had flashes because Indiana’s history lured talented kids. Whether or not you like Underwood, he clearly is comfortable and successful at this level.
I’ll add that Underwood can get there, but based on accomplishments as of now, I’d take Sampson ex-cheating. Fck Crean, no way in hell on that dude.

Dixon didn’t start Michael Jordan 2.0???

Wisconsin has a player starting though
5 pts in the first quarter not bad. Plus, Furst definitely looks like he belongs.

Edit: steel and a flush. 7 for Ivey in the 1st qtr

Edit #2: Drains another 3. 10 in the first.

He’s playing pretty well right now

Yeah , put me in the camp where final four accomplishment is obviously worth more than regular season conference title.

I’d like to see Chet more aggressive. So much skill and talent.
Yeah he’s basically Kevin Durant made all over again. Just not natural seeing a 7 footer with those guard/scoring abilities.

@hailtoyourvictor

Houstan looking pretty damn good in this U19 game against Lithuania. Edey is the clear defensive anchor, but hasn’t done too much on offense. The weird ball seems like it’s messing with his FTs. Canada’s offensive scheme is also pretty flawed.

Impossible. Gillinois insisted he has a low release.

Fwiw, this is how dukedevils scores seasons.

1 point- Round of 64 (labeled R64)
2 points- Round of 32 (labeled R32)
3 points- Sweet 16 (labeled S16)
5 points- Elite 8 (labeled E8)
10 points- Final Four (labeled FF)
20 points- Title Game (labeled CG for Championship Game)
30 points- NCAA Champion (labeled NC)

5 pounds - Conference Championship (labeled CC)

underwood is a really good coach, the questions about him are recruiting and his divisive personality that leads to a ton of attrition

You talk shit to Indiana fans. Might want to consider your logic there, bud. If we’re going to use tournament success as a barometer for who can talk shit to whom, we probably shouldn’t be reading so many of your posts.

Not anything remotely comparable to the hilariously bad takes that @Archetype19 had last night. And even with how bad Archie was and the sanctions Sampson brought, they’ve still been way more relevant than Illinois the past 15 years. Thinking you’re a top 15 team without Kofi is hilarious.

15 years and still no Final Fours. This is the year though, right?

I think they have a good shot at it but who knows. This team is more talented than the one who was a fluke away from one 2 years ago but anything can happen.

Why has Illinois been so mediocre for so long?

Depends on the run. Do you think anybody outside of Houston fans are going to remember them beating Cleveland State, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Oregon State before getting trounced by the first good team they played by 20?

Not diminishing their accomplishment because they won against the teams that made it to them. But in terms of national relevance, not many fans will remember that team even into next years season.

Eh, I think the average fan would remember more often than not final four runs than who won a certain power five regular season conference title-but that's just me...

You're making fun of Purude for no Final Fours when Illinois can't even reach a Sweet 16?
We will be there plenty moving forward.

I don’t give a fvck about some 15 year period when it has no relevance on where we are as program right now.

16 years ago Illinois was in a national title game. So why not add a year to the argument?

Not a single Sweet 16 since then. And you make fun of Purdue Laughing

Most likely the average fan would. I’m just saying not all final four (or any postseason) runs are created equal.

Valid-but to be fair you can same the same for regular season titles unless every team plays all other conference teams home and away..
