*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Purdue has a 5-4 edge over Michigan head-to-head in the past four years and has finished ahead of Michigan in the B1G each year. Michigan has fared better in the past two BTT and had two great NCAAT runs. To state they are better than Purdue as fact is wrong. It's debatable.

SNU, you've gone full homer/troll the past few months which is fine. But let's not pretend like you are capable of ever looking at things through a semi-objective lense on this board. So for you to call others "homers" or "little brother" seems far more fantasy land than a Purdue fan feeling good about where the program is headed after the previous regime in West Lafayette.

Michigan has been to the Elite 8 three times in 6 seasons, twice making the National Championship game.

Purdue hasn't made an Elite 8 since Bill Clinton left office.

Congrats on a 5-4 head to head edge, though. I'm jealous.

And in interest of full disclosure:

Michigan has the 6-5 head to head advantage over Purdue over the past 5 years.
Michigan has the 8-5 head to head advantage over Purdue over the past 6 years.

But I don't really care about head to head results outside of our rivals.

There it is! The good old head to head moral victory position. Ask any college basketball fan which program has been better and without a doubt people will say Michigan. The B10 Tourney matters. B10 Championships matter. NCAA Tournament success matters. Michigan has had success in all three of those buckets. Purdue hasn’t had the success in all three like Michigan.

And there is a difference between feeling good about the direction of a program and hyping it up all offseason like you’re going to challenge OSU for the B10 Championship each year.

But I get it, moral victories are what you’re about Mike. Just the way some Purdue fans are.

Big ten tourney doesn’t really matter and MSU has won it more than anyone.

This is why SNU will always be sub-par poster.

I posted four data points, including BTT and NCAAT, and good ole Strawman SNU latches onto the one that's inconvenient for this particular narrative. Also, it's not a moral victory if it's an actual victory.

(And I totally understand why head-to-head records, especially in the past few years would be a sore spot.)

Man, if only I had mentioned something about that in the exact post you quoted. I'm not asking for graduate-level comprehension, but critical reading is important.

Who's Mike?

In (too early) basketball news. UM can’t shoot the three ball yet. Gonna be a problem.

Didn't know you guys would get this rustled over a home loss to an average team. Shouldn't you be really used to it by now? But then again, y'all basically thought your coach was going to get you guys into the playoffs this year, so there is that....

If you did a poll asking who has been the better program over the last five years, who do you think would win? Michigan or Purdue? I know what the answer would be. Do you (assuming you don't go full fanboy)?

Basically thought Brohm would get us into the playoffs? Not even close. I think most Purdue fans are hoping for 6 or 7 wins especially with the schedule.

Weird. Couldn't tell that by the way some were hyping up the program.

What is Northwestern this year? The 6th-8th best team in the B1G? I'm guessing SNU meant that losing at home to a middle-of-the-pack B1G team is what we are accustomed to seeing from Purdue.
No. We lost to Northwestern, not Michigan.

Michigan won the B1G tournament and made the National Championship Game shooting their lowest 3pt % in years.

Michigan with it’s improved defense doesn’t need to rely on the 3pt shot as much.

Since Northwestern is a middle of the pack Big Ten team and Michigan is an elite team, how many points are you giving me?

Since northwestern is a 10 win team playing at home (and beat Purdue on the road) while Michigan is a mid tier team, why do you need points to make the bet?

It’s almost unbelievable to think SNU is approaching 40 years old.
Oh Blaire. I’m surprised you weren’t as rustled as the rest of your Purdue fanboys here. You must have been too busy putting product in your hair.
