Wisconsin will be lucky to win 1-2 of the games they have announced. Good for you.
Our schedule is better than Iowa’s. That’s all I know.

NC State
Virginia and Florida also in Atlantis. It takes Iowa 3 years to face that many high majors.
More than that in the Atlantis Tournament. Congratulations on potentially losing all of you lr non conference games. Wisconsin sucks, national championship game a few years ago to this.... Pathetic.
They'd have one other "SG", but they have a few "SF"s too and a combo guard.. wherever he lands, I hope he shows out. Really good kid.

We had our worst season in decades and still finished above Iowa. Let that sink in.
Big props to Wisconsin and the AD. I am old (57). I remember UW when they sucked at CBB. I think Purdue was undefeated against UW for 40 years straight. Starting with Bennet and continuing thru Count Dracula UW has been a solid team and deserved every accolade thrown their way. Really incredible run for the two top men’s sports. Well done! I hope Gard can keep it going up there.
@purdue is still a bitch for us. Even with good teams.
I think Gard will be fine going forward. Not worried yet. If we have a couple seasons like Iowa it’d be different. Don’t know how they put up with pure mediocrity.
I have been around a bit. I’m pretty happy that Painter seems to bring in guys who fit his idea of basketball. Had a falloff a couple years but pretty much year in, year out he puts a brand of basketball I can enjoy watching. I’d love to see them win a title but also love watching 4 year guys develop and win - essentially why I watch Purdue ball - the fantasy that these guys actually give two shits about Purdue to begin with. I would love to see Caleb Swanigan succeed but about 1/100 of how I would love to see Etwaun Moore or Dakota Mathias succeed.
The turnaround up there was amazing. My 19 year old daughter always thinks I'm lying to her when I tell her how bad they were. She cant even entertain the idea of it....simply because of how good they've been.
A lot of credit needs to be given to purdue's AD for not firing him during those few years. I think you all are in a good even position moving forward because they stayed with CMP. I think for the most part, you all will probably have a disappointing season every 4 or 5 years. But, the other years will be either seeing the team make drastic steps, or really good seasons.
That's the beautiful part of building teams around 4 year players. You might have those 1 really bad years, but the rest are at worst, enjoyable, and at best amazing seasons.

47 years in between, sure. Iowa hasn’t been relevant since about 1980 in b-ball. Even then it was iffy.
I won’t mention hockey natties because that’s like Iowa mentioning wrestling.

I think this is a pretty fair assessment. Next year ('19-20) is likely to be a tough year unless CE comes back for his senior season. Will have plenty of fans call for Painter's head. And then they'll likely bounce back with solid groups the next two years with a veteran roster. Rinse. Repeat.

John Rothstein is dropping knowledge (as much as he has) on Maryland today.
Their bigs after this season rival what Illinois is about to put on the court this season. No excuse for that for a coach with an established program. Of course, they could land some guys to fill the gap.
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned here about the mess Ohio state is in right now with Urban Meyer. I'm actually shocked by how many people are calling for his firing. I figured that the second the report broke that the PR team would be out in full force trying to spin this as best as possible.
Not quite desperate enough to take Joe Hedstrom tho.

Ok so I was half correct. Either way it’s before my time.
I've heard he was a strong X lean for quite a while but Purdue made a great impression on him this summer.
I have a feeling he will end up at Purdue. We have been told for awhile an IU offer wasn't going to make the needle jump one way or the other. IU did watch him a lot this summer, but I think that is mostly because he was on the same team as Newman. I like Newman a tad better for his shooting, but have also been told Franklin has the better all-around game. Franklin played a lot of PG for Meanstreets and while he liked the position that isn't his natural spot currently.
IU seems to be in a tad deeper with a couple other guards Newman, Bouknight and Harris. It will be interesting to see what happens with Newman if Franklin pops for Purdue. We have been told it would be unlikely for the two of them to go to the same school.

I remember when Wisky was awful. My son, who's 19, refused to believe me. So he googled it.
Pretty sure that's what Herard was for.. .garbage time and next season.
Franklin is visiting Purdue starting 08/30 which is the Thursday night home opener against Northwestern. I think that’ll be an awesome atmosphere and could see him popping then.
