before that as a 7 seed they lost to #2 Villinova whoended up winning the NT [they won the 1st game]
before that as a 7 seed lost to #2 seed Gonzaga after winning their 1st game
before they were a 12 seed in a play in game the same day that Fran flew in right after Patrick had his Thyrod that was cancerous was removed that time they lost in OT to Tennessee.
Fran is 3-0 in 1st rnd games 3-1 if you count play in games as 1st rnd games,
the last time Iowa did that was in the Dr. Tom years when he went 9-0 in NCAAT 1st RND games.

the best before then was Dr. Tom's Elite 8 Finish.
so making noise in March is dependent on past performance. this year they are on pace to make their 5th NCAAT trip and get their best seed. plus they just might get a 2nd place BT finish their best finish since Dr. Tom's Team in the 96-97 season, even Lute finished 2nd twice in his 9 season both coming in year 8 and 9.
do a little research on Iowa BB before trying to bash what Fran has done and is doing. to think that all 5 starters are returning and they get back their best player in Jordan for next season.
