*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

I stated from the beginning I thought Michigan would finish ahead of IU. I made the bet, because there was no risk. I still think Michigan finishes ahead Indiana in conference this year. Michigan has played better than I expected them to so far though.
Think UM has played better than everyone expected other than Hail. Not that most of us expected them to be bad, seems like most thought they were at the top of the conference. They’re just playing even better than I, and assumingly everyone else, expected.

He was the one that got beat on the last play that gave FSU the lead. Not a major deal but I know how she doesn’t like any criticism of her son. I would assume some crazies on the GBI free board weren’t happy.
he stayed in solid position, FSU player just made a strong move. anyone criticizing that is a little nuts, considering all the low hanging fruit there is to criticize from that game lol

I'm not necessarily criticizing him, I just know Treed doesn't like any negative comments and/or criticism of her son.

It pains me to say it, but I agree. I figured they'd have trouble on offense this year, but their defense has more than made up for it.

Its kind of crazy how within just a few years, they went from a team known for offense and playing zero defense.... to being absolute lock down defense.

I've been really impressed with Matthews. I think he's really elevated his game this year.

Yeah you could smell that bullshit from a mile away. Its sad to see Dan evolve into a troll on social media and his show.

He is still solid when it comes to commentary.
when i'm watching a game and dakich, walton, or vitale are calling the game, it's auto-mute and Spotify time.

Obviously Vitale is on a level of his own and is never worth listening to. Dakich and Walton have their positives, but they just do not shut the f*ck up. I can't handle it.

I do not understand why ESPN insists on having the most annoying broadcasters of all time. It blows my mind.

I agree with Klize. I think Dakich is unbearable on Twitter and his radio show. However, his commentary IMO is pretty solid. I think he does a good job of giving praise/criticism where it's due.

i don't really disagree with that. he just talks the entire damn time -- like he never shuts up.
HAHA! I've seriously thought the same thing on numerous occasions.

I think one thing is clear. Dakich loves himself some Dakich.

he for sure loves him some dakich.

i just don't get why ESPN insists on having guys that can't just complement the game. no one tunes in to listen to those guys.

I feel oddly good after that game last night. Not like we can challenge Michigan good, but that we could be fighting for a top 4 spot. Looks like Turge made an adjustment that worked.

Yeah, I thought y'all looked solid. The only thing I would say is that several teams behind UM have looked really solid. I have no clue what's gonna happen in the B10. I'm more confused/excited about what's gonna happen this year than any other year I can remember.

Next 2 games are important. 1-1 is minimum, a win @ purdue while possible is not all that likely. We just can’t get our doors blown off.

I know. Beilein started talking about defense three years ago. I mean constantly and u can't win without defense. It is like he made a conscious decision to change and (maybe, not sure) recruit differently. At the time he took Mathews, we were all like, "does he even fit? Can't shoot worth a lick and Calipari barely played him." Then Simpson showed up and looked awful offensively. Barely played. Then hired Donlan to be defensive coordinator. That had mixed results. Then he hired a DC again in Yaklich and it just took off. I have been amazed at the transformation. when asked why has the defense gotten so good, Beilein answered, "Cuz I stopped coaching it." What head coach says that or is secure enough to admit that and hire a DC in hoops?

I wonder if he looked at the explosion of the three ball and the five out offense becoming the rage and thought his style wasn't going to be as successful as it used it to be and he needed to go against the grain and get an advantage in a different way. I have never seen a coach change like that and do it late in his career, a career that was already so successful. Old coaches are usually set in their ways and don't welcome new ideas and new assistants like he has. It's been fascinating to watch. Put a tape in from 2005 or 2010 and it is hard to believe those WVU/Michigan teams are being coached by the same guy.

Yeah i actually like the guy and hope this might put some pressure on the IU president to invest into its football program. A crazy note just posted, Brohm makes more than the entire Indiana football staff.
That's because we hired a high school coach. Still blows my mind, he's completely lost in close games.

The high school coach stuff is a bit ridiculous IMO but the whole no coaching search rubbed me wrong.
That was more of a tongue in cheek comment, either way he had proven nothing and he's overmatched at this level. It makes me even more mad that IU's still stuck with him while freakin Kansas hires Les Miles.

I guess we differ. Les Miles is a retread thats past his prime, would have been disappointed with him honestly. IU hired Allen because he accepted $1.8mil per year. Like i said above, Brohm makes more than our entire staff combined. McRobbie can't retire soon enough.

IU has made that hire before...it doesn't work.
