*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

Grant Williams is a 4/5. That doesn't take away from anything.

The stats say otherwise. If you want to argue from ignorance, there's no sense in trying. He had 12.5% (50 possessions) out of the two-man game this entire season that resulted in a shot, turnover, free throw, or assist. He's predominately a spot-up shooter no matter how much you want him to be otherwise. Reals over feels, bud.
He hits Haarms on slipping the ball screen for a dunk non stop. Maybe the stats don’t consider that two man game but it is.

And he can drill the biggest shot of the season off the dribble.

He hangs his hat on catch and shoot, but you even brought up that half his possessions aren’t. Come on why are you still trying this?

Be like Underwood and take the L.

I'll give you a Purdue player from the past who was truly a spot-up shooter: Ryne Smith. He was much more of a spot-up shooter while Cline is able to do more off the dribble and in the two-man game.

The "stats" do consider that. There is also accompanying video along with it. 50 possession on the season. 52% of of his possessions are catch and shoot. Every single other way you can use a possession is the other 48%. The fact that you don't understand this is embarrassing.

JJ Redick is one of the most well-known catch and shoot players in the NBA and he only does so at 34%. Klay Thompson does at 44%. There's only one player that catches and shoots at a higher clip than what Cline does and that's Kyle Korver at 59%. Edit: Danny Green does as well.

Again, good shot, but just because someone does something once, twice, or a handful of times in a season doesn't mean that overpowers the thing that they do the most by far.

Be like Underwood? Lol. Look at this guy on his high horse. Finally wins a S16 game, and now he's talking shit like he's been there before.

The guy that you consider a catch and shoot only guy is averaging more assists than any Illinois player since 2013.

Purdue fans, no need to get into a pissing match and dropping callouts on other posters. Just enjoy the freaking moment.

After starting 6-5 and having that ugly loss to ND, I knew we were better than our record but in no way could have imagined this. UVA will be a tough matchup and is definitely the better team. But as I said with Tennessee, even if they would win 8 out of 10 games against us, we just need one of those two occurrences to happen tomorrow and Purdue will be in the Final Four. Yep, I just typed that and it's pretty freaking surreal.

35 years? Did he start coaching when he was 13?

to inject a outsiders view on Purdue's best shooter that I saw was Mount as for Cline he is a real close 2nd to Glen Robinson.

Purdue has had a bunch of great players,

I just want to congratulate Purdue on making the Final Four. We play like that again and we get boat raced

I think Purdue is the worst possible matchup for UVA, but we are 5 pt dogs so maybe Im missing something.

Should be a home game type environment for the Boilers tomorrow

Maybe you’re a bad offensive matchup but I think you’re a good defensive matchup for us. You don’t have the perimeter length of some of other teams we’ve played so we should have an easier time getting good shots

You sure about that?

Cline 6-6, Eastern 6-6, Eifert 6-8, Edwards 6-1, Harms 7-3

I think it’s Purdues defense that has gotten them here, its what folks aren’t talking about.

It’ll be a tough matchup for sure but you haven’t played a defense anywhere close to ours either. I think both teams present matchup issues for the other.

I'd think Guy would be on Cline, b/c guy might struggle against Eastern down low.

True. If Guy continues shooting like he has, no way we win this game. If he shoots closer to his average, we have a good shot. Hopefully Cline shoots like he did vs ODU instead of UT

Michigan and UW's defense are right in line with UVA, efficiency wise.

The one thing thats different about this purdue team is their range. As Cline and Edwards have shown, they can hit from almost anywhere, they can shoot over the top of anyone, when they are on.

Purdue fans look at VA as the ACC version of Purdue, except that Purdue being in Indiana, and Basketball being a religion in Indiana, we look upon ourselves as the “guardian of the flame” for traditional mam to man , jumpshooting basketball.

UVA has a great team, I think this is a matchup of 2 underrated programs

Agree. My guess is we'll put Eastern on Jerome since he seems to play more on-ball, ball screen stuff. Would guess we then have Cline on Guy and Carsen on Clark. Hunter will have a nice size and athleticism edge over Eifert.

While Cline/Guy will be a key match up, the biggest factor will be Carsen. His shot-making can simply negate even the most disciplined defense...and his bad game can negate a lot of good play by us as well.

I like Edwards on Clark, as Clarks game is similiar to PJs, and not doubt Carson got plenty of practice against that every day for a couple years.

Synergy is relied upon by almost every NBA and College Team for their scouting. It's one of the best tools in the business, and it is very accurate. I'm going to trust that over a bunch of biased Purdue guys that feel their guy does something different than what a professional scouting service catalogs and sells to clients.

Good for him. Doesn't change how he scores. It's also not shocking considering how bad our offenses under Groce were.

And it's not just what I consider. The stats reflect that actuality.

Nowhere close to an All-B1G guy right?

Well it’s wrong in this instance, like 1,000% wrong. Biased or not anyone with a fvcking set of eyes can see that. 50 possessions lol he’s had probably close to half that in the tournament alone.

Yeah. I don't know how it's biased -- we play an assload of two man game through Carsen and Cline.

We're obviously not gonna agree here. You think he's only a catch and shoot guy. I've watched him all year do far more than that.
