*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

Im just waiting for the shit storm from either fan base. He stays you guys are happy and the Indiana fans wont be or he goes and well....
would be pretty entertaining to watch the Louisville meltdown if he spurns them. they seem like an...interesting bunch.

I've thought he'll stay this time around, but nothing would shock me. his actions aren't those of a guy that plans on being in WL long-term. and imo, he's perpetuating Purdue as a stepping stone job with this stuff. will just be happy if he stays, we ink this class, and get a payoff year or two bc of it.

Louisville fans would freak. You can’t get a guy to come back home.

I will say this regarding the Brohm...I have never seen a fanbase so convinced it is a done deal, before it is. If Brohm stays at Purdue I would not want to be Louisville's AD. It is going to be a massive shit show.

Yeah, one of the Mizzou board's mods has Louisville contacts, and he's saying that they all expect it to happen.

We don't know what'll happen, but I think they (a) underestimated the fact that the program is not in a good spot from a talent perspective or financially (b) that Brohm wasn't as compelled by coming home as they thought.

I personally think (b) has more to do with the fact that he wants to go to a place to compete for natty's, and Purdue is a faster track to getting an offer from that kind of program.

All of the local media and one of the Mods on 247 are all saying 100% Demling who is also on 247 and a good friend of Jeff continues to say 50-50

Could be B for sure. I don't think money is going to be an issue.

I think money will be an issue if he expects a substantial raise. They can give him a raise, but I'm not sure they can beat a Purdue counter by much considering the Petrino buyout + Brohm's buyout + their financial situation.

True but what kind of raise are we talking? Is Purdue really going to pay him Dabo Swinney money?

Just saying that I don’t think Louisville can muster enough to really outbid us. Making an assumption that we don’t get into silly offers.

I think if it’s close he goes to UofL. ACC doesn’t have a ton of competition, academic requirements are significantly lower, and it’s home. Purdue would have to hammer out a $6mil deal IMO, even so $5m from UofL might do it with enough bonuses.

I’m just ready for this Brohm thing to be over with. A bunch of people spewing B.S. that don’t know jackshit about anything.

No different than recruiting it seems. Lots of people claiming to be in the know and hearing a million different stories. Feel ya on wanting it to be over.

The only thing about b is the ACC is weak af right now. Its Clemson and then nothing so the path to the semifinal is easier. I guess he could hold out for the USC job, but do you really want a program whose administration doesn’t give a shit about football.

We'll see. He's positioned pretty well here in the west, and has a good recruiting class coming in. If he's looking for a big time job, Purdue can get him there faster as opposed to rebuilding at Louisville. If he wants to go home...he'll go home.

I'd be willing to bet that he stays. Though I don't think it's a given by any means.

I think the signs have been pointing towards him staying as well.

I agree if he’s eyeing something more. Easier to leave Purdue than UofL. All depends on what he sees as his end game. NFL or a football power or is UofL it?

Agree that it depends on his end-game. I think Louisville will always be there for him, same way it was for Petrino (until he got his ass fired).
What signs? Not being a dick just curious.
He's not really operating like a guy that's leaving, in terms of the recruiting he's doing, the things he's saying to the team, etc. It's obviously still on-going, but seems positive for Purdue.

This. Plus the Milton Wright commitment when it was apparent Petrino was going to be fired and Wright’s confidence that Brohm was going to stay at Purdue after the news broke. It seemed like that was the last “hurdle” before he committed. The David Bell recruitment continues to remain very “pro-Purdue” after recent visits with Brohm. Wouldn’t be the case if Brohm wasn’t assuring recruits he was going to be at Purdue next season. None of the current committed guys seem to be wavering about anything at all.

I see Brohm as a guy who works until his time is up. He’s still the coach at Purdue until/if he signs his next contract. I guess with the meeting today everybody should know later today or tomorrow.

Also I live in southern Indiana so I at least get to laugh at someone.

I agree but when you combine everything it doesn’t add up to a guy that is about to leave unless he is just burning bridges in the process. Doesn’t seem to be the type of guy that would do that but you never know.

Nebraska mod from Omaha, who went to school at The Ville is saying it's all but done . he wants to announce before the signing period. Also claiming Moore is following him. He is well connected with some big time boosters.

I'll believe it when I see it.

More will be announcing for the NFL this time next year. I doubt he follows but who knows.

he's a true frosh rn, so no.

honestly if Brohm were to leave, I wouldn't blame him for following Brohm. He's a known commodity, avoids a year of injury, and heads off to a new destination with a great coach to shine for his jr* year before going pro.

*edit: rs-sophomore year, third year out of HS

Thought it was two years and you could enter?

Not a bad strategy honestly.

This gave me a laugh. The good news is he has also hired some really good replacements.

"Mike Bobinski is the AD at Purdue, and he's really good at this. He got to watch Skip Prosser, Thad Matta and Sean Miller bolt from Xavier under his watch"
