*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

That's fvcking crazy
what is being left out is they went 24 for 36 missing 3 front ends of the 1 n 1's.

they went into the game making 47+% from the field and went 20-56 for 35% from the field, most of them were good looks, Iowa already has faced the best defense in the BT in Michigan, shooting 45.6% from the field and 6-14 from 3 for 42.9%.

Rutgers is not in Michigan's class when it comes to playing defense. sorry a team missing wide open shots and shooting 66.7% from the FTL that team any team is not going to win.

Rutgers played their best game of the season.

Iowa had these in for visitors
2021 Prospect Christie
2020 Prospect Foster 3rd home game in a row.
2020 Propect Garcia
were the top targets, with offers.
plus 50 FB players in for the FB team JR day

waiting on the reporters conversations with the BB Visitors.

I’m sure they were all very thrilled to see that blowout and the head coach not on the sideline for senior day.

Not even the most optimistic Purdue fan could have predicted the season to turn out this well.
This was my prediction from June on the Free Board.

“1. Michigan
2. Michigan State
3. Purdue
4. Maryland
5. Nebraska
6. Indiana
7. Wisconsin
8. Ohio State
9. Penn State
10. Minnesota
11. Northwestern
12. Iowa
13. Rutgers
14. Illinois

IU will be overrated all year. They have no shooters and will play a slow, plodding style of offense that won't allow Romeo to display his full skill set (he's overrated too BTW). Morgan will be good but other than that I think they'll be a pretty similar team to last year and Purdue will sweep them.“

Definitely overrated IU & Nebraska. Undervalued Rutgers & Iowa.

that or they see plenty of playing time on a team that will be making their 4th trip to the NCAAT in 6 years.

Iowa graduates 5 SR's, so playing time is there for those that are willing to put the time in. my hopes
Foster will replace Kriener
Cook will need to be replaced and I am not sold on Garcia. my choice is Dain Dainja 6'9 230 lb'rs plays inside and out [brings the same level of Athletic ability as Cook.
PG Beard out of Whitney Young HS to replace Jordan
WG Jackson out of NY to replace Dailey
SG to replace Moss have no one in mind. [hoping Fran banks that one for the 21 class as he only has 2 ships to give out.

I think alot of people had Michigan first but it's that Purdue was underrated by people more than Michigan was overrated. Overall Michigan is better than projected.

there is one positive from Fran being suspended is that he got a close up look at his teams play on TV vs standing on the sidelines. sometimes stepping away and observing from the game on the TV maybe he might get smarter than the couch coaches that have all the answers about coaching recruiting and everything related to coaching,

You have said some ridiculous things over the years but this takes the cake.

I think the top of the Big Ten was better than expected this season.

going 1 for 15 to start the 2nd half missing little 10' shots even a couple of layups missing 6 straight 3 pointers,

that's pretty much it in a nut shell. that sad part is most of them were wide open looks.

one game Wieskamp goes 5-6 from 3 then he goes 0-3 in the next. Joe who was 44.5% from 3 and 50.1% from the field went 1-7 from the field 0-3 from 3, two of those missed were layups.

other than that I really don't know, they came out flat. maybe they are getting wore out this late in the season. Cook doesn't play with the same energy he started the season with.

missing these for the season is catching up with them
Nunge would have provided a much needed relief at the 4 & 5 position. Pemsl would have provided relief at the 4 & 5 in a short lineup.

You are still talking offense?

In your last two games, you:
  • gave up 90 points to a team averaging 56 in it's previous 5 games
  • gave up 86 points to a team averaging 64 in it's previous 4 games

You have said some ridiculous things over the years but this takes the cake.
why? as the coach on the floor he can't see everything. watching the action on TV with their closeups on foul calls he gets to see the flaws in his team.

I think you're on to something. Every coach should take a couple games of a year to watch on TV and learn about the game of basketball. Genius.

everybody gets hot. but then again you refuse to give teams credit for improving thru out the season.

your team got lucky with Wesson being suspended for the game,
OSU 18-10 8-10 BT yup they sure are the worst team out of 350+ teams. in 7th place
Rutgers 14-14 7-11 BT in 9th place.

again its not like these 2 teams are the absolute worst teams in DI or the BT.

LIKE YOU are trying to make them out to be.

You’re right. You have really stumbled onto something. Call them Film Sessions and I bet every coach in high school sports and beyond will start doing this

not about the game but more about his team. teams develop habits that are not visible during the game when he is coaching, this allows him to see these habits both the good and the bad in live action. he can also watch how his assistants handle the team.

alot of these thing can be corrected after watching the players and assistant coaches in the practices.

I’m guessing they are running away as fast as they can from that dumpster fire.

film can only do so much, as ussually they are edited by the Film people, they never show the whole game in the film review.

as a ex AAU and HS Coach this is the way it is. but keep telling yourself that it won't help in the future.

go get a HS or JR HS job and find out what really goes into coaching. its not as easy as some of you make it out to be,

in your dreams, this isn't even close to what it was like when Fran took over.

the last 6 years Fran has his team going to the NCAAT for the 4th time vs just 3 NCAAT trips in 11 years.

the 1st 3 years Fran was rebuilding this team by not creaning players or by bring in players that were kicked off their former team for illegal activities.

next year looks even better.

Yep. We were up 28 at halftime and won by 35. I'm sure OSU would have kicked our asses if they had Wesson.
you might not have been up that much if they did have Wesson oh lets not forget OSU beat Iowa on their court
you beat a Wesson less OSU team on your home court.

Dumpster fire. Dump trucked by fvcking Rutgers at home.

We also won AT Ohio State by 12 when Wesson played where he fouled out only scoring 6 points. Try again Gil.

Definitely some cringeworthy stuff, but I agree with some of it.

He has to be frustrated with his team. They go out and win big games but then get swept by Indiana, a .500 team. We also had a 59-51 lead late and didn’t score in the last 4:15 of the game.
Win with class, lose with class.

Definitely didn't undervalue Illinois though. They only will be a spot ahead of Rutgers if they win today and are currently the exact amount of spots you undervalued Rutgers by.

Yeah Illinois has played well of late. Should’ve known that Collins was going to anchor the league down.

Damn the team takes after their fans

Soft as baby chit

Look forward to stomping Iowa in basketball for years to come

You haven't earned the oxygen requisite to write this describing our entire fanbase in the conference yet, Knight. Unless I missed it and you finally finished in the top half of B1G LaCrosse standings. You didn't know that you were responding to gil, so you get a generous pass from me this time. RU going to visit Kinnick for Rutgers' first football date in Iowa City? You'll get to see how soft Iowa fans are. It's a little different than a half-empty dot com stadium.
