*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

Let’s take away Morgan and see how that works. Jeebus are you really this stupid? Let’s take away the best player and see how it goes. Let’s take Simpson away from UM. Let’s take Cash off MSU. You act like Purdue is the only one open to this effect.
Purdue has nobody outside of Carsen that deserves to sniff the nutsack of Romeo Langford.

Only he can give you the privilege.Laughing

So, lets discuss this...

Take away Carsen, next best option is...........Ryan Cline.

Take away Morgan, next best option is........Romeo Langford.

Lets go a step further...

Take away Carsen and Cline...........Haarms? Maybe Nojel----But hel, he's a 6'7 Ethan Haap.

Take away Romeo and Morgan.........Phinisee....Maybe Green....Or Smith. Possibly Davis; Not a bad option if healthy.

Anyways...Not sure why this so hard to understand. Purdue losing Carsen would have a much, much bigger impact for Purdue, than if IU lost Morgan. Not so sure why this is so difficult.

Bro, January 19 will end this argument. They are a joke outside of Carsen. Archie will slow him down in the first half and they'll be done.

(As long as we're healthy)

I'm starting to have my doubts about this staff. Supposed to be a defensive coach and we're going to give up a hundred. Absolute joke, Penn State at least put up a fight. No mental toughness in this program since Knight left.

Tell you what, that second half moral victory yesterday really must have instilled you with some confidence in IU's coaching staff.

I'd had a lot to drink Laughing but I'm glad you found that.

I was venting in the wrong thread I guess, although IU finally found some fight in the 2nd half, I was proud of em.

You’ve gone full brain injury? I was commenting on the term chucking. The 2018 national champs chucked a lot. If IU was shooting a bunch of threes I’m thinking IU fanboys would be all about the three ball. Purdue better keep chucking if they want to compete. Purdue has not lost because of chucking- they lost because they get lost on defense. If I can make 37% on high volume 3s I’ll take that all day long. Equivalent to 55.5% from 2. Must be working - they are pretty efficient offensively. Defense sucks and must get drastically better.
Lol sure

All BS'ing aside, it really did encourage me if I'm being completely honest. From I think the 8 min mark in the first half...IU outscored them by 8. It's all relative because they were facing a team at that point who already had a 19 point lead. But, how they fought back was actually very encouraging.

I used to think the same but you should rethink. A lot of cool stuff to see and experience outside of our country. We’re already planning a Scottland trip, Greece, Switzerland, Spain.

Yes,I love travel to other countries

I always defaulted to French when the people didn't know English despite there being no indication they spoke anything but Italian. Did that with a Portuguese guy once before realizing it made no fvcking sense.

When I was in Scicly, you get in the middle of the country and no one speaks English.

I would speak in my bad Spanish and they would answer me. Turns out Sicilian and Spanish are the closest languages to old Latin.

Never been anywhere that there was not someone who could speak English. It is the universal language. Of course I don’t backpack into off areas, and I do speak poor Spanish and a smidgen of Japanese.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....You think Simpson is Michigan's BEST player? Man, no wonder you are having a hard time with the subject of basketball. Maybe we should talk about something else? How's your knowledge in gardening?

You are wrong here. Everything goes through Simpson. He locks down the other teams best guard down.

His ability to run the offense is impressive. He is perhaps the one player that Michigan could afford to lose the least

Many would agree. I personally think that Simpson, Poole, Matthews, and Brazdeikas all have arguments but Simpson is probably the most important player on our team.

My friend put it this way when I asked him who he thought was the most important player on our team.... “Simpson by a mile because he takes the head off the snake of our opponent night in and night out.”

Top 3 on my list for sure. Didn’t hurt that we all had a blast at that “power plant live” after the game as well.

Miller Park is the great not because of the stadium but because it’s one of the best tailgate stadiums of any sport.

I liked Miller Park too. I was there for a night game against the Dodgers and the roof was open on a gorgeous day. Also had a lot of fun there, it’s just hard to top Fenway IMO.

Did you tailgate

Was it by chance the Friday night game where kershaw and jimmy Nelson helped set a strikeout record? I was at that one

All 4 separate trips?

Not sure yet, we did Italy on its own but may combine 2 and do 10 days, may not. Scottland/Ireland has some good groupons. We'll probably match Switzerland with the north side of Italy and maybe Germany. Then make Greece its own trip.

Idk. Just doesn’t excite me and especially not for how much it would cost. I’d rather get season tickets to the brewers or something than spend two weeks in Italy.

We did 11 days and spent maybe 1000 on travel, round trip from NY to Rome was like 260/each, 1000 on rooms and maybe 1000 on food/tours/etc. AirBnB/VRBOs in rome are around 100/night for a pretty decent place in the middle of everything. Flights over seas are getting cheaper and cheaper as airlines keep battling.

I’m sure there is, but I think there are a lot of cool things to see here that I still need to do. Our big trip this year is going to be to Boston. Gonna got up the Sam Adams brewery, a Yankees/Red Sox game, etc.

That may not be as cultured as seeing the London bridge or something but sounds a lot more fun to me.

No Boston is pretty awesome. We did an east coast roadtrip a few years ago that was in my top 5 trips.

Definitely a ton of things to see in the US. I still have places I want to get to here as well, but focusing on the harder to do trips before the eventual family starts building.

London would be alright, but there are a lot way cooler places. Italy like you mentioned, has a lot to offer. Rome, Venice, and the Vatican for history. Beaches in the Mediterranean. The dolomites. Etc.

I wpuld like to visit: Japan (for the culture and to snowboard), New Zealand, Greece, Croatia, Amsterdam, Iceland, Thailand, Istanbul, etc.

Yeah i've heard London is pretty dirty and there's not a bunch to see. I figured its like Rome with less to see, could spend two nights and that'd be enough. Thats all we did in Rome as once you see the Vatican, Colosseum, and ancient rome, its time to move on to bigger stuff in the country as there's so much more to see. We did 11 days and didn't even touch the north side of the country.

Is that an IU thing? At Purdue, we’re not really into sniffing other guys nutsacks.

I was just blowing some sh*t. I was pretty impressed by how they battled in that second half.

Osterman has been hammering this point for a few weeks, but those slow starts are IU's achilles heel - aside from the injuries.

I'm expecting a 10-15 point loss tonight in Breslin, but I'm looking forward to seeing how a couple of the freshmen - specifically Aaron Wheeler and Tre Williams - handle the environment.

As with most big games, gonna need Carsen and Cline to be in the 35+ range combined to have a real shot.

With Langford out I'm curious to see if Painter stcks Eastern on Winston to start or if he goes with the cross-match and puts him on Ahrens to help with rebounding. That would also allow Edwards and Cline to have more natural matchups on Winston and McQuaid, respectively.

You can be such a dumbass. Ask Belien how he feels about Simpson’s value to the team. Belein relies on a very savvy guard to run his offense. That happens to be Simpson. It’s not all points. How can you spend so much time around the game and not soak up even a little bit of knowledge.

You guys lose Morgan and you are toast. Hell you are the biggest crybaby on here when it comes to the impact of losing players. How many posts do you have lamenting the impact of losing role players? Answer- a lot. Now if you lose Morgan it’s “next man up”. LMFAO. You are the definition of homer.,

Simpson did look pretty good with that little hook/floater. I kept yelling at the TV for them to deny him going to his right but they didn't listen.

Losing Morgan would cripple us this year, i don't know how you can spin that one. Will be interesting to see next year with him gone. Bringing TJD and Brooks will help but they're young, and we've yet to see Hunter play, Romeo will be gone, Green can't be relied upon, it'll be Phinisees team. I will say i think losing Carsen would be worse for Purdue but not by a ton.

OSU was having some success hounding Winston in the first half. They did it with CJ Jackson mostly, who is smaller but quick.

If Nojel guards Winston, who does Carsen guard?

But I thought losing your pg wasn't any bigger than losing anyone else?

It's the perfect opposite to the Ronnie Johnson floater: it's right-handed, the shot looks cool, it appears as though he's practiced that shot, and it actually goes in.

He did it with different arm angles, didn't always use backboard, was impressive, but he only did it going to his right. If he ever got it going with his left hand he'd be deadly.

I think Carsen could give Winston some problems on-ball, but I just don't know if it's worth the tradeoff of wearing him down on the defensive end when Nojel is pretty adept at causing issues for point guards with his length.

But the bolded is my real concern because you can stick him on McQuaid which is fine but Cline on Ahrens would be a real rebounding issue, and I'm not sure that's an area where Purdue wants to compound deficiencies as Ward and Goins are already going to b e problematic.

Has there been anything further on Ahrens tweaking his ankle on Saturday?

I don't feel good about tonight. The matchups don't look great and Breslin is a tough venue to play in. It doesn't look like MSU has much depth, especially with Langford out so our best hope might be if we can get Sparty in foul trouble.

At this point, I just hope Purdue comes out of the game healthy and am glad that after tonight, we will be done playing on the road in the state of Michigan.
