*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

I'm going to go ahead and say something that I can almost guarantee that I'm going to regret down the road....

I don't think IU is very far behind either UM, or Michigan State. I do think that both of those teams are better, but it's not by a crazy margin. It's a close enough margin where I think if they would of had all of their players throughout the season.....they'd be right on that level. As of today, I think both Michigan and Michigan State are legitimate final 4 contenders. IU without a doubt isn't on that level today, but I can see a road that could bring them to elite 8 level.
I think a healthy, all year long IU team is really good. Hunter alone would change this team a lot. Just seems when we get healthier, someone else gets hurts. A friend of mine close to IU said there was a stretch where IU was forced to practice with just 7 players. Its been a bugaboo for sure. This team can grow. I just don't think as things are, that we have the ceiling of a UM or MSU.

Yes. Race was a 4* via Scout, ESPN and 24/7. He fell in Rivals b/c of reclassifying. He was rated 80th by Scout. His rating via 24/7 was 92. He was offered by Michigan as well.

Hunter was a fringe Top 40-50 kid, that fell to 52nd. Not a huge difference, really.

Justin Smith and Moore were also 4*.
This really goes to show how bad Crean was at putting together a roster! There's talent always on his teams, but his roster is always missing at least 1 part.

Oh I completely agree! I seriously can see a path to this team being a top 10 team this year, but not a top 5. That's where I see both of the Michigan schools so far.

Too bad @Mgkcbb can’t post here anymore given he lost his ban bet to me. It would be nice to point out everything he’s been completely wrong about this year (like most years). But man, this year he’s had some absolutely terrible terrible takes. Like beyond idiotic dumpster fire type takes.

Things Mgkcbb was aids level wrong about:
Romeo Langford
IU
MSU
Illinois
Purdue
Haarms
Eastern
Josh Langford
Ethan Happ
Pretty much everything, really

13 Seed Buffalo: 89
4 Seed Arizona: 68
Never forget Arizona was never a Final Four team.

The way things are trending, I'd be surprised if Pat Chambers is the Penn State coach by March 17th.

Yeah if I had to guess, I don’t think he’ll be here to start next season. He seems generally well liked by the fans base and had brought in some good players but we’ve still regressed

I’m glad his poor poor takes are never let go.

If MSU gets 1st or 2nd in the Big Ten does Cassius have a shot for POY.

Averaging 17.7 points and 7.6 assists while shooting really well from the field. I imagine unless Purdue finishes top 5ish Edwards won’t get. Happ could. Not sure.

Conference POY? Why wouldn't he have a chance in that scenario? Dumb question.

Yes. I think he’s got a shot.

Such a weird question. Winston was already on the short list of players who "have a shot" at it. Why wouldn't he have one if MSU takes 1st or 2nd?

I'm guessing he's basically asking if he's the favorite for POY if he continues his play.

Most people have assumed that Carsen or Happ are the 2 to beat, but if neither are their teams are top5 do they deserve it

This is what I meant. Thanks

Thanks! Bet you've never seen something that big before.

Based on conference-only stats I don't think MSU needs to win the conference for Winston to take it. His numbers are better than Edwards' and just as good as Happ's. I don't know who the favorite would be, though.

I get why he chucks, but that doesn't mean he isn't a chucker.
Yeah, I got no problem with that label, but even on his volume he's been more efficient than a lot of people expected. He could probably cut a couple shots per night out, but I've been generally okay with most of his decision-making.

I think he gets hosed at the rim at least 3-4 times per night. I'm sure a lot of it is his style of play, but he absorbs a lot of contact and only attempts five free throws per game. That definitely cuts into his two-point splits.

Just ho hum for him, wonder what he'll be saying in a few weeks after IU beats them in their house. Need Rob and Davis back for that to happen though, aren't beating anyone with a pulse when your bench is Mcroberts, Fitzner, and Moore. None of which are Big10 level players.
