Is it though?
I think so.

Likekele was a competent player in the big 12 the last few years, the kid from WVU is a proven 3 point specialist, Sueing was successful in this league before the injuries, same with Zed Key, and then they have 4 solid freshmen. Who knows if it all clicks, but there are pieces there

Edit: also the 20 point scorer transfer from Wright State

My god we were brutal down the stretch. 9-23 on free throws and way to many turnovers. Then they hit two 3's in the last 8 seconds to make it a one point game. Oh well, a win is a win.

The Good:
Dawson Garcia was as advertised. 23 points on 4/7 from three.

Ta'lon Cooper almost nets a Triple-Double in his debut with 17 points/10 assists/8 rebounds/2 blocks.

All three Freshmen who played flashed some good things.

The Bad:

Free throw shooting was horrific (9/23)

-6 in turnover differential

Gave up 17 offensive boards

The defensive effort needs to ramp up.

Taurus Samuels played worse then Walk-on Will Ramburg.

Cooper/Battle/Garcia are going to be a very good trio. Hopefully Carrington can shore up the guard spot when he gets back.

Really excited about the freshman class. I’m sure there will be a bunch of ups and downs. Sensabaugh might be the best pure scorer they’ve had come in the program in a while.

I'm pretty sure the B10 is not ready for the sodomy that is about unfold when Iowa Ass Rapes it's way through the league this year. B10 All first team: Iowa's Starters. B10 All 2nd Team: Iowa's 2nd Line B10 honorable mention: Josh "Get the mutha****in oxygen ready" Ogundele.

Unfortunately for you, everyone in the conference is ready for the revolving door defense Fran teaches so well.

B10 first team: whoever is playing Iowa that night

IU was "ok" last night....Second half was good----but notsure how much of that was IU, opposed to Morehead State losing their PG; who at one point had 14 of their 21 points.

--Malik Reneau and JHS are really good.

---Need to shoot more than 12 threes.

---FT's: Eeeek. Started 1-7,ended up 12-21. Not good.

---Defense was solid.

---Depth. IU lost a lot when TJD/Race would go to the bench. Not so with Reneau: 15/7 last night.

---X was, well, not very good. But that is "OK"----b/c JHS was, and is really good.

---Kaleb Banks was a surprise. Bit of a sleeper IMO. Looked good for his first time in a college game.

--Geronimo is an athletic freak...When his basketball skills catch up, he could be a big prblem. Showed a nice mid-range game last night.

----JHS might be the best frosh in the B10. Very good. Strong and can get where he wants on the floor. Vision is elite. Mid-range is very good. Good defender for a frosh. At 6'6",he's gonna be a tough match-up for folks.

----Kopp was 2-2(from 3). Needs to shoot more. But inhis defense, X missed him wide open 3 or 4 times. His defense is better than I thought.

Overall, lot to improve. Very, very sloppy 1st half. You can get away with that vs Morehead State----but not an Illinois, Purdue, UM, etc, etc.....Cannot continue to get outscored by so much from three: 27-12. Morehead only shot 30%, but.............they hit 9 three's. It was the only reason the game was close early. That and missed freebies, and ****ing 5-footers/lay-ups. I expect this team to be really solid...Need to take a higher volume of three's though. IMO, about 20-25 per game.

Update: IU #9 in Kenpom. Iowa the next closest at 20, Michigan at 22, Purdue 23, and OSU at 27th to give you the B1G teams in the top 30.

Iowa is certainly not gonna be among the most talented teams in the conference, and they are woefully undersized, even with all their 6'7", 6'8", 6'9" guys.

But they will definitely be a thorn in teams' sides, and will at the very least be yet another fun team to watch grow as the season progresses.

We throttled a pretty bad Columbia team without Caleb McConnell. We are going to be a pain in the arse to play...........again.

What is Rutgers opinion of Brandin Knight? I’m amazed he hasn’t taken a smaller college job yet.

We love him. I believe he has had offers, but appears he is waiting for the right one.

Pikiell has put together an amazing staff. He lost Jay Young to Fairfield (who are going to surprise folks this year), but has kept Knight and Karl Hobbs for seven years now despite both getting HC offers. Added TJ Thompson a few years back when Young left. It's a really good staff. They identify recruits with talent that we can actually get and they all can really coach.

Happy to hear that for BK. I fully expect when the Jeff Capel ERA blows up this year that BK comes back to Pitt if they offer it up.
