You had a ton of guys regress from a year ago that had nothing to do with injuries. Fryfogle turned into a bum somehow. OL got worse and your RB room lost a lot.

When was the last time Penix was healthy? He was clearly healthy enough to start this year. He just wasnt any good.

Lol you are a clown. We are on our 3rd string QB, 4th string RB, and our defense has been really banged up including multiple all big ten players. We were a phantom targeting call away from beating Cincy, and had an opportunity for a game winning drive against MSU.

Glad to know you no longer think injuries are a valid excuse though. Why has Matt Painter only made it passed the Sweet 16 1 time? Why was Purdue so sh*t the last two years in football?

They have basically the same team they had last year. Our true freshman QB has been awful. With a healthy Penix we make a bowl easy.
I think you are underestimating Whop Philyor. Dude was a beast.

Stevie Scott was pretty damn good too.

He wasn’t the difference between 6-1 and 2-10. We have all big ten players out all over the defense. 3rd string QB on offense who is absolutely atrocious right now.

Truth hurts dude. I said injuries may have hurt you for a few losses but not 4+ lol. Maybe you’d have 4 wins instead of 2.

Let’s face some facts:

1. Your OL has regressed (injuries haven’t been an issue with the line)
2. Penix and Tuttle combined to throw 6 touchdowns and 12 picks (LOL) but sure go ahead and blame injuries instead of admitting your QB position has been awful regardless of who the QB was.
3. Philyor and Scott left and you guys didn’t come close to replacing them.
4. Fryfogle turned into a bum and can’t catch.
5. Your defense even prior to injuries took a step back from a year ago (aside from McFadden who is a beast)
6. Your pass rush sucks
7. Your RB room is thin because of transfers not injuries.
8. You promoted Sheridan for some dumb reason and he sucks.

So if injuries aren’t an excuse, why were you shit in football the last two years? Why hasn’t painter made a Final 4?

Philyor was genuinely underwhelming last year. The easiest explanation for IU’s plummeting to the bottom this year is that their offense wasn’t actually very good last year (the efficiency numbers emphasize this point), but an elite turnover rate allowed for the team to win a lot of close games. Those turnover numbers were always going to go down, and it had extreme ill effects on the offense. The defensive line being worse this year definitely didn’t help. Jerome Johnson may have been the most underrated player on IU last year.

Also, the team has largely seemingly given up after the MSU loss. That is what happens when your head coach is essentially a camp counselor whose coaching philosophy is centered on a bullshit phrase. This team got punched in the mouth to start the year, and they did not respond well.

In regards to Penix, I don’t know if you can say he was rushed back, but I also don’t think the early season games were indicative of the player he once was. At the end of the day, he had three major injuries, and that just takes a toll. If he had struggled with accuracy early in his career, I think there’s more credence in calling his poor play regression.

Phinisee out tonight....Duncomb suspended for three games.

No big deal, IMO---really. More run for Geronimo, Bates and Lander. Will miss Rob's defense..Duncomb hasn't played much, so no loss there.

Did you read what I said? I literally said it may have helped turn 2 wins into 4 lol. But not the difference in 2-10 versus a bowl season.

Schedule strength is a big factor as well. You played a middling schedule last year. It’s much tougher this year.

Wait so is Duncomb not better than Furst?

We hardly ever play a middling schedule---OSU, UM, PSU and MSU every year.

Can’t agree with you more here man. The turnover margin from last year was certainly going to revert to the mean this year. An average offense from a year ago got worse with losing Philyor/Scott and several areas regressing from a year ago.

Or it could be that injuries played a major factor. We were a phantom targeting call away from beating Cincy and had the opportunity for a game winning drive against MSU.

I have no clue....Haven't seen Duncomb play much in college. Logan late bloomer in HS. Moved up drastically. Not sure why he hasn't gotten much PT. We are deep in the back court---not so much in post.

Matthews would have been able to match, if not exceed, whop’s production. I could nit pick some other points, but the gist of them are all correct so there’s not really a point.

Why has Painter never made a final 4? Why was Purdue football so shit the last two years?

I love how you aren’t refuting any if the points I made lol. Pretty telling.

Are we trying to compare making a Final Four to gaining bowl eligibility?

Combo of running into hot teams in a single elimination tournament and losing a key player who was at the top of his game (Hummel/Haas) at inopportune times.

Why was Purdue football shit? Bob Diaco, Covid, Sindelar/Moore, etc…

You're probably right re Matthews but IMO, that doesn’t change the offense drastically. Running game and QB play were still lackluster.

Good point in turnovers. They are easily the statistic that is most difficult to replicate despite being among the most import stats in determining who wins and loses.

Hell, Darrell Hazell got rich off Purdue because he led the nation one year in turnover margin at Kent State and won 10 games in one year because of it.

We had the opportunity for a game winning drive against Minnesota. Shit happens.

Oh so you can blame injuries and coordinators, but we can’t? Got it.

Ok. What I said still wasn’t wrong.
I mean, I guess. Teams like UM, PSU, MSU wasn't what they usually are..OSU was. And damn near came back and beat them---@ OSU. BUt your statement is fair. Weird season last year. TBH, we just wasn't as good last year, as some thought. This year we couldn't overcome the injuries, bad OL, transfers...

But who knows, probably a different season if we hold on, and beat Cincy....And then finish vs MSU. I honestly think this team quit after the MSU game.

Why do you keep missing what I said? I told you injuries played a role for you this year and likely would’ve helped get you another win or two. But not 4+.

And look at point 8 I made. Pretty dumb of Allen to promote Sheridan.

Probably not. The game I keep looking at is the Cincy game. Should have won that game. If they do, maybe things are different? Then a tough loss(20-15) to MSU, and after that it was just ass.

There is nothing to back that up. That’s strictly an opinion. Do you need another lesson in fact vs opinion? I know that’s a tough one for you.

@NC_Trojan10 I'd like to convert our Karlaftis bet to a charity bet. You game?

Figure with the holidays upon us, we can actually put some real stakes on it that can help a few people.
I’m fine with that as long as we agree on the charity ahead of time. I’d rather donate somewhere where it actually helps someone opposed to…. Well other charities… lol

LMAO----WOmens volleyball gonna delay seeing the IU game... 🤣

Just like there’s nothing to back up that injuries are 100% the difference between bowl and no bowl.
