The rule of verticality doesn’t apply to someone initiating contact with their body. He jumps from directly in front of the rim and lands on the side of the rim after making contact with someone pushing him back towards the rim.
He didn't initiate the contact.... Frazier is coming AT HIM....If I am coming AT YOU, odds are????? Yeah, probably gonna be a collision....Liddell STOPS---he literally STOPS, at the top of the arc, and then jumps----Frazier's momentum carries him TOWARD Liddell. So YES, the rule does apply.

Also----Are you OK with the obvious carrying on Frazier, getting to the rim? Anyone for Illini-ville got video of that?

If they are calling that foul, the game would still be going on. Illinois fouled OSU 3-4 times each trip down the court during their comeback.
You were rooting for Ohio St because of title chances.

Hardly unbiased.

I know I am, but that’s a pretty obvious one.

Listen man, the middle of the game was bad for the Illini.

But regardless, you are defending a terrible call.

I understand the rule fine, and watched how they called fouls all night. That was a foul by both standards.

Just a weird hill to die on
Agree to disagree....And if you watched how they called the game, then you should know THAT wasn't getting called....They let a lot....A LOT of contact go. Like misdemeanor type of shit.

I'm not calling that...JMO----Maybe someone else would. MOF, probably would.

And that call wasn't any worse than some of the calls Illinois got way with---including the carry---really, really bad carry by Frazier, on that exact play...

Great game---fun game---enjoyed it.

Yeah, again, I’ll just have to teach you a little about physics because it’s apparently not clicking. You see Liddell’s feet in the snapshot below? You might not notice, but you see his feet dragging behind the rest of his body? That’s because of his momentum. It’s a little law off the world that we live in that was discovered by Isaac Newton called the conservation of momentum. Remember that the next time you try to incorrectly assert verticality when a player launches themselves in a direction. There’s slow motion for this one, so I’m not sure how you’re missing it.

Davis gets mugged all the time without getting shit called. He’s constantly double and triple teamed when going to the hoop. The rape happens. No call.
Davis shot 10 FT’s by like half against the Illini.

No shame in getting that type of call. It’s a foul..

Probably could have called that. But still a shitty decision

You’re a good guy and usually a good red, just not tonight😉
If ya had won, something tells me this sentence is much different.... 😁

I just see the game differently....Been there, done that. I can see where Illinois fans want a foul---i can see an argument....Thng for is----Liddell STOPPED, then jumped. I tend to stay way from calling that on the defender----unless, I mean he lunges, etc, etc...

ANyways----great fukin game, and a terrific comeback.

Gotcha....Now, can you do one on the carry? Or is that not covered in your physics manual?

Doesn’t make it not a foul.

I mean comparatively speaking, Ron Harper got FT’s on 1/3 of that contact to end a game against Iowa.
And that’s what’s so infuriating. There is no “never getting that call” or “always getting that call” in the Big Ten … the refs are literally just awful.

The important thing to remember is that every team in the nation deals with this. It's not a viable excuse when every team has to deal with it every game. But I do understand being mad about it.
