We both know we would have been anywhere from a 4- to a 6-seed in 2020 with no NCAA cancellation; we finished ranked #21. If your point is (late) Weber and Groce were historical anomalies for Illini basketball with how bad they were and it took Underwood until year 3 to build us into a relevant program, then … agreed.

There are a lot of issues right now that start from the top down. Our seniors are not leaders or very good for that matter. So so so many recruiting swings and misses. And recruiting ain’t looking better. MSU literally is only recruiting 1 other guy for the 23’ class that might not come here and has seemed to utterly quit recruiting highly ranked kids. Player development, rotations, everything just awful.
Our freshman who’s a football player and walks on the basketball team outscored our senior captain today lol.

The number 1 issue with this team is they lack mental toughness IMO. No leaders, no one to weather the storm, just a bunch of dudes who don’t really care all that much.
