*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

I am curious to see how it plays out. Teams have been in a rhythm, though a crazy rhythm since January. Now with 13-14 days off how will the teams react.

Same. It could either go well or be a disaster obviously. None of the coaches were really happy about it, but we shall see.

What world have I been living in not knowing Wichita St and Houston were in the same conference?
***Official 2017-2018 b1g In-Season Thread*** ?

Michigan, Purdue, and Michigan State all have a Quadrant 1 win by winning at Maryland. A road win over a top 75 rpi team is Q1.

Maryland currently sits at 74.

#75 is colorado who is playing RPI #18 Arizona on a neutral court today so they will leapfrog Maryland regardless of outcome.

#76 is South Carolina who is playing #30 rpi Arkansas on a neutral court today so they woll most likely also leapfrog Maryland regardless of result of the game.

Looks like 3 B1G teams are losing a Q1 win today (lol Quadrant system)

That some fans are leaning on Maryland as a Q1 win is pretty lol

Our starting pg and a guy that would have been starting by January. Your takes are fvcking pathetic.

Your starting point guard....who would be a backup on everyone in the Big Ten not named "Illinois".

Your potential starting two guard because he wasnt good enough to start out of the gate. Rather it would take til January to figure out maybe we shall try a new guy out of desperation.

Some studs indeed.

MSU has 7 too 100 RPI wins but 16 top 100 KenPom wins which is a superior metric.

That is terrific.

You know what other teams have twice as many top 100 Kenpom wins as compared to RPI?

Nearly every single power six team

Where do you cutoff though when evaluating quality? MSU has 6 KenPom top 50 wins. Purdue has 10. Michigan has 9. OSU has 4.

True. MSUs zero losses outside quad 1 is what makes up for lack of good wins.

If UNC loses tonight, MSU grabs a 2 seed with Duke, PU and Cinci.

Here's how I see the Tyler Cook testing the NBA water situation playing out: He will test the waters, the NBA scouts will tell him he needs to work on defense, his handles and his mid-range game. And then he will come back to IA to work on those very things and be an improved player next year

Michigan State has 2 wins all year over tournament teams and a 2-4 record vs tournament AL teams. If the committee rewards them with a 2 seed it will be an absolute travesty.

FIFY Winking

Cook has submitted paper work to enter the NBA Draft. he will not sign with a agent and will return to the Hawks if the feed back tells him needs another year, he has until June 11th to withdraw.

Jok did this as well and returned, this is a good way to learn if you are ready or not and these people will tell him exactly where he stands. what he does with that info is up to him.

also after the coaches and players meetings, other than Cook everybody is in good academic standing and will return.

this will piss off a lot of wagon jumpers that wanted certain players run off [creaned]

My point is don’t be surprised to see MSU on the 2 line

I dont think any of the 3 B1G teams should be 2 seeds. Alot of other teams around the nation with much better resumes.

Virginia, Xavier, Nova, Kansas, Duke, UNC, Tennessee

All have better resumes than any of the B1G teams.

Clemson has won at Ohio State by double digits, beat Florida in Florida, beat UNC, beat Louisville, beat NC State, and beat Miami.

If B1G gets a 2 seed, or multiple 2 seeds, this season, the committee will have way overseeded us as a conference. Ill take it since they way underseeded our conference the past 2 years, but we should have 2 3 seeds, a 4 seed, and a 5 or 6 seed imo.

Not sure if the other 3 B1G teams are gathering also, but this is pretty neat for OSU b-ball team and fans.

“OSU is taking full advantage of the live Selection Show opportunity by inviting its fans to join the team for their announcement. Television crews from TBS, CBS (which will be embedded with the team for its NCAA run) and the Big Ten Network crew will be on hand to capture that moment. Fans are invited free beginning at 5pm to the Schottenstein Center for the 2-hour event. Coach Holtmann to speak at 5:45pm.”

You’re on crack with both Clemson and UNC

Clemson is iffy

But UNCs resume is a 2 at worst, could be a 1 over Kansas with a win over UVA tomorrow imo

We will see. But I'm pretty confident it is going to shake out this way:

Virginia
Villanova
Xavier
Kansas

Duke
Cincinnati
North Carolina
Purdue

Tennessee could maybe jump in there with an SEC tournament title but they lost chances for higher profile wins when Arkansas beat Florida and Alabama beat Auburn. Right now, none of their metrics are better than Purdue and the only thing they can hang their hat on is an OT win on a neutral court over the Boilermakers.

Clemson is 4-9 against quad 1 and has only 4 road wins all year. No way they are a 2 seed.

Auburn likely blew their shot with the loss to Bama.

MSU has just 3 quad 1 wins and while the ND loss should show better than it will, it is still a team that lost to Ball State and Indiana when healthy.

UNCheats also has 9 LOSSES. that can't be ignored. losses over ride any amount of wins a team may have.

it will not surprise me if none of the BT teams get higher than a 3 seed. the BT was that bad.

Is there a reason you guys keep arguing with Gil? Y’all know he’s dumb as shit and doesn’t understand basketball, recruiting, life, etc...

This is why having the conference tournament a week early was a bad idea. People become bored and start arguing about Iowa

Yes, this..

And this KU team as a 1 is straight embarrassing.
All those garbage schedulers should be banned from next season's tourney. Ffs, coaches .. Quit being scared to play somebody.

Makes sense. So a grown man wearing them to watch Romeo is a bit weird? Haha
Not weird at all. Passionate fans. I think the big ass drum is weird as shit. You probably don’t. Different fan bases like different things.

Agree to disagree. I think a 40 year old man wearing those candy stripe pants out in public is weird. College age kids and younger wearing them is no big deal IMO. The drum is only a thing at Purdue football games and isn’t comparable to those pants.
