Do you have all these stats memorized in your head? Spreadsheet? Or do you look them up for every post?

Iowa was supposed to be good this year......
scoring will not be a problem, the problem will be playing TEAM DEFENSE. individually their defensive stats are not that bad, has there were 5 players with 21 steals or better, Bohannon after his foot healed up he went from 11 steals in the 1st 26 games to 11 steals in the last 7, his quickness also improved as did his elevation on his shot. hopefully he goes into next season fully healthy and stays healthy.
there was a post on another site that stated that Bohannon was just 1 player at any position or class in the last 25 years to make 85+ 3's as a FR and as a SO and record 175 assist.
this after being just 1 of 2 FR players to make 85+ 3's and record 170+ assists in the last 25 years.
not really all they really need is for the players to remain healthy and solid play from PG Connor,
just like G Wieskamp does not need to be all world as all he has to be is that solid 5th starter that can avg 8-9 ppg. if Cook comes back these are the top 4 scorers that return.
Cook 15.3 ppg
Bohannon 13.5 ppg
Garza 12.1 ppg
Moss 11.1 ppg
the next scorer was Nunge at 5.7 ppg their were 3 different players that were that 5th starter
Baer @ the 3
Nunge @ the 3 and the 5
Wagner @ the 3
these 3 were not consistent enough, with a 5th consistent player added to 4 dbl digit scorers, it will be more of a 5 on 5 game [forget the refs]
Baer and Wagner were not scoring threats, Nunge at the 3 was playing out of position.
won't even think about that till this Sept as all the player movement will be settled. on all the teams. to me there is no reason for anyone to be run off or leave.@nitewing how far do you see Iowa going in the tournament next year?
I have already stated their Defense was bad and that individually they were good,You realize steals aren’t a huge part of team defense right? A lot more goes into it than that. You can have plenty of steals and still be a bad defense.
I have already stated their Defense was bad and that individually they were good,
right now they need to learn the team defense concept. don't ever recall saying the team defense was good let alone avg. I have been unhappy with their TEAM Defense.
their FT shooting and TO's were another sore spot for me.
Moss went from 74.2% from the FTL to 87.9% from the FTL
Bohannon went from 85.5% to 90.4%
now they need everybody else to improve.
here was supposed to be the starting line up from day 1I’m shocked Iowa was able to have 5 guys on the court with all of their injuries.
the stats say other wiseBut they weren’t good individually. Not by a long shot.
the stats say other wise
here was supposed to be the starting line up from day 1
PG Bohannon backup Williams
SG Moss backup Ellingson
SF Baer backup Wagner
PF Cook backup Pemsl
C Kriener backup Garza
with these on the bench
PG Connor who was Red Shirtng
F Nunge
F Dailey.
1st Williams quit this forced Connor to have his RS Pulled then he suffered a ankle injury, then Mono put him into the hospital.
this made Ellingson the main backup at the PG position. but ultimately Dailey who had never played the point guard position to learn how to play the PG position
Baer then broke his finger causing him to miss the 1st 6 games and Wagner started in his place, while Wagner is a defender he is not a scoring threat. then Wagner suffered a shoulder injury and a concussion, in his place Nunge started. Finally Baer returned and regained his starting spot.
Kriener was projected to start but he suffered a concussion. then Garza who took Krieners starting job also sustained a Concussion and Nunge started in his place at the 5.
this why I am looking forward to seeing who will be here this fall.
here are the players at the PG position
Bohannon backups Connor and FR Fredrick the Kentucky Gatorade POY
SG Wieskamp backup Dailey and Ellingson
SF Moss backup Baer and Wagner
PF Cook backup Pemsl and Nunge
C Garza backup Nunge and Kriener.
that's if they all return.
if Cook leaves I see Nunge becoming the starter at the 4, these were his statsI feel if none of the players transfer, Iowa could be a bible team next year. If Cook and others go, or just Cook, I don’t see it.
if Cook leaves I see Nunge becoming the starter at the 4, these were his stats
5th leading Scorer @ 5.7 ppg, 91 total rebounds 34 assists and 32 TO's, 25 blocks 2nd on the team and 21 steals in 15.7 mpg. shooting 44.3% from the field, 33.3% from 3 and 75.5% from the FTL
these were Cook's stats
28 mpg 15.3 ppg, 224 rebounds, 58 assists, 82 TO's 21 steals and 20 blocks. shooting 56.6% from the field, 14.3% from 3 and 66.1% from the FTL.
the plan is to turn Nunge into a stretch 4 in the mold of Uthoff. if Cook leaves Nunge's timeline just moves up by 1 year nothing more.
Cook needs a solid JR year before he can even think about the NBA. extending his range out past 18' and improving his aggressiveness on rebounding and improving his FT shooting.
not as many to key players. as for Fredrick we will just have to see how good he really is, Players under FranEvery team has injuries. Plenty had way worse injuries than Iowa. Wouldn’t brag about a POY award in Kentucky. The b-ball talent in that state is nothing special.
why not as Uthoff never played till his 3rd season while Nunge as already started as a True FR. Uthoff didn't have his best season until his RSSR season.I hope you’re not expecting Nunge to turn into Uthoff.

Unranked 3* Marble ended up a 1st team all BT and a 2nd round NBA Pick
Unranked 3* White was a 1st team All BT FR team and FR AA. then finished as a 1st All BT and 2nd round NBA pick
top 150 3* Uthoff 1st Team all BT and 2nd Team AA
Unranked 3* Jok 1st Team All BT
Considering the results of past unranked 3* players. getting the Kentucky Gatorade POY is a good start to maybe getting the rare 4* players in the future.
you have to start somewhere.
don't have these metrics that you feel you need.Show me something besides steals that shows otherwise. Advanced metrics please

you mean that team of thugs, that knocked Kriener out of their game vs Iowa and hit Pemsl in the back of the head, oh lets not forget their great Bruno who stood over Cook shooting his mouth off? that Mayland team?Lol I can think of one just in conference alone that had significantly worse injuries to better players and STILL outperformed you. Maryland Terrapins.

block shots. So what stats are you using that show Iowa has good individual defenders? Steals? Lol

Iowa's top 5 scorers consisted of 3 SO's and 2 FR. neither of those FR were expected to be major contributors this last season as they by most were expected to be Garza #8 player and Nunge a possible RS canidate at worst and #11 at best.
yet Garza ended up the 3rd leading scorer, leading shot blocker and 2nd leading rebounder.
Nunge ended up the 5th leading Scorer, 2nd leading shot blocker, 5th in rebounding, 3rd in steals
this was far better than anybody expected out of Nunge.
Uthoff RSSO season stats
18.2 mpg, 7.6 ppg 4th in scoring, 152 rebounds 4th on the team, 11 steals and 35 blocks leading the team. ['
very little difference for players getting their 1st starts or playing time. Nunge is just a FR with plenty of time to get as good or better than Uthoff.
can't stand player that play like thugs.Rent fvcking free. Only took 4 years in the conference and you’re already foaming at the mouth.
who did they lose to injury?None of that matters.
Maryland lost significantly more than Iowa. Not even close. And still won more games.
You can’t stand players the play more aggressive and with more heart than Iowa players.can't stand player that play like thugs.
can't stand player that play like thugs.
no they played like the dirty thugs they are by throwing elbows at players heads when their backs are turned. and Standing over a player laying on the ground. who else in the BT played like that? and again who on the Maryland team was lost to injury? You can’t stand players the play more aggressive and with more heart than Iowa players.
block shots.
its funny all you boilers have is blocked shots by Haarms to make him into great defender
steal leads to direct points on the other end, blocked shots do no good unless it turns into points for the team whose player recorded that block.
who did they lose to injury?
Justin Jackson who was an All-B1G level player
Ivan Bender who was a solid big guy
And they were both lost for the whole year. Iowa guys only missed small chunks of the season.
but far less than steals. steals also leads to far more run outs for easy baskets.Hahahaha. Actually Haarms is a good defender because he can move his feet and guard against the dribble drive. He shut down Tony Carr twice when he was iso’ed on him. It’s not just the blocks.
And no steals don’t always lead to direct points. Are you serious? A guy could steal it and then turn it over or steal it and then miss a shot. Doesn’t always lead to direct points. Blocks CAN lead to direct points but not always.

Williams the primary backup to Jordan. who quit on this team then Connor the backup PG was lost for the season limiting the number of guards at the point, to just 1 true PG on the team. you list a couple of bigs that might have been something but we will never know now will we, butt one thing most should realize Bohannon would no have had to play 31.8 mpg if Williams or Connor would have been healthy.Justin Jackson who was an All-B1G level player
Ivan Bender who was a solid big guy
