I actually think Memphis is going to be pretty darn solid next year. Lester Quinones is one of the best on-ball defenders in the country. What they've been missing for the longest time is consistency in their offense. Having Jalen Duren, along with Earl Timberlake is going to be huge. They have a legitimate claim for being a top 10 team. I think they'll be slight favorites ahead of Houston in the AAC.

How smoothly the offense can gel remains a question mark, but one thing is certain, teams will struggle to score on this team of dynamite athletes.

From the outside, id say some has to do with penny being hired, memphis is now another contender for the big time recruits, ie Duren. Yall dont play em on the court, but still battle for the top recruits.
