L's up!

Yeah, UL has a more jelled team. UK is hit or miss.
I think you're judging UK and UL on different scales. UL has shown that they will struggle at times, just like UK has.
The difference between the two teams is potential. UK has a much higher ceiling than UL and if you watched UK's last two games, you would have noticed that they are rounding into form.
Now, UL could very well win this game, the coaching is really good, they have good size, can rebound and they can score. So I wouldn't be surprised one bit if UL wins.
But in my opinion, they're playing UK two weeks too late.

I agree with that, I just don't think y'all have "arrived" yet. I think you are discounting UL's tenacious disciplined play too.
Regardless, we won't have long to wait for the truth to come out.

“Guys guys guys, we rounded the corner”!

Lol cayut rhetoric year in and year out.
There was a pretty big difference in our play against UNC compared to against Hall. I think a lot of it has to do with Green being gone. If it lasts or not, that's a huge question.

Don't act like you guys aren't confident going into this game every single season only to be disappointed most of the time ;)

Its given the cats a smaller rotation. Guys can play a little less tentative without looking over their shoulder. The last 4 games we've been on an up swing. The defense is much improved, very balanced scoring. We had 18 turnovers against UNC but other than that we dominated in all other facets of the game.

Louisville has 1 player averaging double figures, we've got 4. I just like our up trend. Its our first true road game so that's gotta impact us. Its really a must win for both programs. It'll be a a tough fought game, but I expect us to hold on and close it out. Something we're getting better at as well.

Disagree on the "must win" for either program. Both already have solid wins; UofL vs Seton Hall and Michigan St.; UK vs UNC. Now...it absolutely would help either team, but it's definitely not a must win situation for either.

Sure it is.... Little Brother U6 needs to be reminded annually that he's Little Brother with yet another beating from UK.

CATS 74
U6 66.

Series goes to 36-16

It's definitely a must win for 2 of the 4 UL fans in this thread. I fear for their health if UL loses this game.
The energy and effort they put into hating UK can only be matched by that 2 adulterers dude on RR.

If its not a must win against an in state rival, man you don't have a pulse. I know you guys down play this game every year, and its easy to understand why. Its all about seeding. You guys aren't ranked and this game with a win would put you there. Lose and you take steps backwards from a ranking.

I’d prolly place a little $ that we wouldn’t be ranked even with a win. I see no way we jump from #34 to at minimum #25. I don’t think it’s a must win bc we’ve already lost 3 games to 3 ranked teams and have bounced back from those. Would like a win though, but I don’t think it’s a must win for either team.

As I said...it would absolutely help; but it's not a must win for either team. For the fans, maybe; but not for the teams. Louisville is currently ranked #17 in the NCAA Evaluation Tool ("NET") rankings, and UK is ranked #21 thru 12/27/18 games. The NET ranking is now more relative to an NCAA selection and seed than any other poll.

"No more reliance on the RPI.

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee has a new tool that hopefully should crystalize the ranking system before the selection and seeding of teams for the 2019 NCAA tournament.

The NCAA Evaluation Tool, or NET, will be the new barometer for the committee, and it will include game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin (capping at 10 points per game), and net offensive and defensive efficiency".

That tool will be used for mainly at large, unranked conf winners, bubbles etc. The main polls are used for initial seeding for the most part. If you don't think the eye-test by experts won't count.....well

If you don't think Louisville would be seeded as high or higher today than UK....well Winking

If a person thinks beating a ranked team at home isn't a must-win they are delusional and ignorant.
I too noticed a downplayed the basketball game every year, but yet they hype the football game, well, except for the last 3 years in football RollLaugh

I guarantee their players and coach aren't thinking the same. Hell their fans talked a lot about dropping the series. They're complacent about their yearly bend over and take it for another year.
