Knecht or Sheppard?

Wagner playing 37 minutes and putting up a goose egg was a reminder to me of how Cal will simply continue to play guys too long, despite their lack of production.

That, and still not teaching how to play against a zone.... Arky fans are gonna love that.

The SEC could very well wind up the top conference in college hoops this year.
I wonder if Aidoo is having second thoughts on leaving UT. I'm glad he is gone, cause I totally blame him for the Purdue loss. Enjoy your 10 minutes off the bench at Arky Aidoo.

The SEC is absolutely stacked. You better protect your house this year, because road wins are going to be scarce.

As far as Arkansas, I think this is the year when the national media will start to see what's going on with Cal. He’s changed. He refuses to listen to anyone, he refuses to adapt, his priorities are wrong, he's frustrated and he's just gotten really weird. Something is going on with him. He is not the same guy he once was.

This Arkansas team has the pieces, but they are not deep enough and Cal's lost his fast ball, his changeup, his curve and his slider. He’s trying to toss underhand lobs now and this is the wrong season to do that. This could end catastrophically for them.
The SEC is really strong. There won't be many "off night" wins.

I'm not sure what he was thinking he was going to gain by playing for Cal. If you're not a young 5* high school phenom, you have to do something to impress NBA scouts. Cal doesn’t waive a magical wand, all he's doing is acting as a middle man.

He didn't get Anthony Davis, John Wall, DeArron Fox, Jamal Murray, Malik Monk, Julius Randle and KAT drafted, all those guys were going pro regardlesss.

UK put those guys on a stage, Cal just shined a brighter bulb on them.

Very rarely do lower talented guys end up in the pros from anything Cal taught them, but kids like Aidoo, Ado, Johnel Davis, Mitchell etc… fall for the Cal hype train every year.

For every 1 kid he MIGHT have helped, 2 kids hurt their stock. Look at the Harrison twins, BJ Boston, Edwards last year. He forced them to play his archaic system and they got exposed. Same thing is going to happen to Aidoo.

The NBA is all about great outside shooting, even if you're a center, you better be able to shoot. Well, if you want to show how great of a shooter you are and you're a front court guy, don't go play for Cal, he wants you in the paint.

Must have been NIL money.

Knecht had a breakout game last night. He got 37 min. as a starter and scored 27 pts. with a good % and +11. I think Knecht was lucky to end up on the Lakers which has a strong inside game, but not so good on the perimeter.

This has nothing to do with Sheppard. I'm just learning about the NBA, but the team you're on and your minutes has a lot to do with the opportunity afforded to a rookie. There is some being at the right place at the right time.

Knecht scores 37 points to lead all scorers to beat Jazz, Knecht tied the single-game rookie 3-pointer record shared by Rodrigue Beaubois (2010), Yogi Ferrell (2017) and Utah’s Keyonte George (2024).

Knecht looks like a future NBA All-Star to me. I never understood why Kawhi Leonard fell to #15 in 2011... and I don't understand why Dalton Knecht fell to #17 in 2024. Dude was objectively the best three-level scorer in college basketball last season.

My buddy is a Spurs fan and I told him that if Knecht fell to them at 8 (after picking Castle at 4) it would be an unreal offensive and defensive pairing. But that he shouldn’t get his hopes up.

So, yeah, was shocked on draft night when he fell totally out of the lottery.

Yeah, I really don't get it, especially now because guarding offenses can be next to impossible if you have elite shooters all over the court... offensive players are simply more valuable... which means Knecht should have been more coveted. Nobody in this rookie class can get a bucket as easily as Knecht.
