Why are they in a class of their own? All three lost a ton of important pieces. And they are replacing those pieces with freshman; albeit really good ones. And yes, KU and UK do returnn some key guys. But still. On paper, sure they seem to be "by themselves". But man there's some really good clubs that return a lot of key guys, and who were pretty good last year.
I think folks are letting the classes these 3 have get in the way of how good other teams are.

On paper, there are 8 or 9 teams that could make a case for being loaded. It's impossible to rank them in August.

You lost to a 16 seed. Lol
Well, unless UL won the NIT last year (they didn't), then your boys lost to a team that was seeded 17th or worse.
I love how UL fans talk so much smack while their house is fully engulfed in flames.

I have to do this because I can't post but once a week:

@UL1986 I get it, UL had a rough year, but your house is on fire due to the actions a coach that you guys said was the best in the business for many years. We tried to tell you, but you didn't listen.
Nevertheless, when you're house is ablaze like yours is, don't run around making fun of everyone else. That's what some of you UL fans do, especially Rockycard.

@MrBaracus , you're right, the NCAAT isn't made up of the 68 best teams, but my point still stands, UL lost to a team that wasn't good enough to get to the tournament. The SEC sent 8 teams to the NCAAT, Mississippi state wasn't one of them for a reason.

You lost to Kansas State (a very mediocre team) with multiple burger boys. We had an interim coach with a program suffering from past misconduct brought about by a slime ball coach. I didn't expect us to be very good last year, and with everything that went on prior to the seasons start, it still wasn't a failure of a year. We beat FSU at home, something that's rare. Beat a solid Virginia tech team twice, Beat ND at home, and went .500 in the best conference in CBB. Sure, it wasn't the year some had hoped, and we had blowout losses on account of lack of direction from a interim coach who's younger than me, but lets not act like the surrounding effects from Pitino's bullshit didn't play a role in why our performance last year was so lackluster. It is what it is, but we have a new coach, and new culture to start from. I'm personally psyched. I don't expect us to do be top 25 this season, but I do expect us to make the tourney. You guys should have a nice team this year, certainly top 10, maybe even top 5. Good luck.

Right, because everybody knows the tourney consists of the 68 best teams in the country.

The ACC was not the best last year. Even K admitted that.

According to K, it was the Big 12. Who am I to question the greatest?
Idk, opinions are opinions. He may be right. According to bpi at last seasons end, it was Big 12 1st and ACC 2nd. Regardless, the ACC was top 2 conference, and to even win 9 games with the massive amount of bs we dealt with, isn't atrocious.

Last year at this time a couple of folks on here had Nova in the top 5, a good number had them 8-10 and many did not have them on their ranked pre-season list. Michigan was also overlooked by most. Experience matters. Lots of young talent on these 3, but who knows.. I think Nova is top 10--- probably not FF this year, but they could surprise. Watch Virginia..........chip on their shoulder, really hungry and seasoned.

What crime have I committed to deserve the punishment of watching Virginia?

Are you sold on Kentucky's backcourt?

Duke's PG is an unknown. There are questions with all.

UK’s backcourt is sick. Lots of offensive weapons. Hagans is a defensive juggernaut.

I don’t see a weakness on this years team. Great depth, athleticism, shooting, decision making, & defense. They may not win it all in a random tournament, but they have as good of chance as anyone.

Are you this fvcking dumb? Do you understand what automatic qualifier from a hs type conference is? Dumba$$

Rockycard was joking around wirh Moss, you arbitrarily started talking shit and getting defensive. Also, most of what you said is kind of dumb..our house isn’t on fire, we cleaned house, but I can see where your hopes lie.

Dominating bad competition doesn't tell us much one way or the other. We saw Kentucky annihilate Ariz St a few years ago and the fanbase was thoroughly convinced that the rest of the nation was playing for runner-up, until UCLA teabagged them in Rupp next game. Kentucky fans seesaw more than any other. Which is weird, considering they invest more time into following basketball than anyone.

I know a few of those teams in the Bahamas supposedly have talent, but c'mon...you saw, right? Overall very little skill or athleticism and even less enthusiasm.

I doubt there will be any glaring weaknesses, but it's way too early to declare greatness or domination. The excuse for past teams not living up to the hype was youth. Your backcourt, once again, is almost entirely freshmen. What has you so convinced that this group is different?

13. I’m just glad UNC is an honest school that steps up when someone makes a mistake. Glad to see them man up & face the suspensions head on.
Didn’t UK football have some NCAA violations a few years ago?
UNC and honest don't ever belong in the same sentence after what they got away with in basketball. Kentucky has cheated in football and basketball, but have done their time unlike UNC.

I was thinking Nevada as well
I thought Nevada was good. I'm just not sold they'll be that good, again. Sometimes momentum takes you a long ways. So we're they that good? Or did they just get it going?
Other teams I like are Auburn and UNC. Not to mention Oregon. They return their leading scorer, plus bring in a Top 4 class.
Look I certainly believe UK, KU and Duke deserve the preseason love. But by no means do I think they are head and shoulders above everyone else. Not right now. If I had to pick MY favorite? Man I like Villanova. They just win.

I honestly think Nevada and Gonzaga are legitimate top 5 teams. Never seen two mid-majors in the same season stacked like this before. Both teams could be 1 seeds.

Between the teams listed, I would go with Kansas. They have experience and depth. And probably the best frontcourt in the nation.
I could easily see Nevada winning it all. I think they returned pretty much everyone from a very experienced team last year and adding all those transfers and recruits that are eligible this year. They are stacked.

UVA only lost two starters from a team that won 31 games last year and went 20-1 in the ACC. People will underestimate us because of UMBC but that’s perfectly fine with me.
UVA is toast unless Guy brings back the man bun.

Nah, DeAndre Hunter is our best NBA prospect in a LONG time. He'll carry the team this year. Guy will just have to hit open looks from 3. He doesn't need a man bun to do that.

Kentucky always has a shot. Always will under Cal. That's not a question. But to start putting them in a class of--"by themselves", which some have, in AUGUST is silly. Same goes for Duke and Kansas. It's one thing to perform vs inferior teams in meaningless games. Its a whole other beast to do so in front of 15k fans who hate you. And on national TV. Or vs teams capable of matching your talent.
Weakness is hard to determine right now. And for the exact reasons I desceibed: lack of equal competition. You may lookmstromg shooting. But that could be because your getting a ton of open looks because teams cannot defend you. Or your shooting over a 6' guard; Not one of tpurboen size, or of your athletic ability. Same with defense. Same with rebounding.
I have zero doubt Kentucky's going to be a contender. They always are. I just think someone of you are getting way ahead of yourselves.
