Is your school getting it's money's worth with it's coach?

I sure as hell do not want the little wimp at Kentucky.

He is good Tennessee material as Tennessee is proud of a round of 32 loss.
We were proud of kicking y'all's ass for the series again, but now it appears a lot of teams do that, so there is that.:D

The statement from a loser.

Your team lost in the round of 32. Holy crap. Grow up girl.
funny-cat-poison.jpg

Beat your asses. It would appear y'all are allergic to Orange.Laughing

What other series are you talking about? TIA

You're logic would be useful for a UK fan talking smack to a Auburn fan next season.
Duke, LSU, Seton Hall and UT series. Some were a series of one.Laughing

You're welcome.

1 game is a series? Are you aware why it's called series? I thought UK fans drink a lot.

Enjoy your day.
I was trying to be polite and not rub it in your faces that UT solely seems to have some mojo on UK. Before you leave, is UK getting her money's worth at HC? That is what the thread is about and UK fans have become scarce lately. Your opinion would be a great value.:)

He has more NCAA wins and NCAAT wins than any other coach since being at UK. Yes. He's worth it. Even if he lost some games to his friend Rick Barnes. Completely worth it.

Roy is getting 2 million a year. Grossly underpaid compared to other coaches.

Haha. No he's not. That's what is reported by the university. There is no world in which he only makes $2 million. It just comes from different sources.

You maybe right. I did a search and that’s what I saw. Like I said before he’s probably getting more in perks, endorsements etc.

That's a great graph. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like Leonard Hamilton is a massive bargain for FSU. Somewhere around 50th in salary according to that USA Today post, and around 15-20th for NCAAT wins and overall win percentage.

add in the fact some of those coaches above him, aren't coaching anymore. That was since 2010. He's higher if you just count current coaches.

These lists are always tricky because private schools don't have to release theirs and then some schools don't factor in perks like car dealership partnerships and country club memberships. Plus performance bonuses. That's why it's best to look at folks in general tiers.

But ultimately there's some common sense that has to be applied too. We may not know Roy's exact salary (or any coach) but we know they all have one of about 5 sports agents. Folks don't give away services for free. It's just not realistic to think someone like Roy isn't making similar to Self or Jay Wright etc.

Yet half our fan base would tell you he's a bum and our rosters filled with 3 stars with an occasional top 50 guy are just massively underachieving lol.

both
Cal took it to a new level
then you throw in the fact that he is a top 5 coach in the country
he is worth every penny he is paid
mebe, thanks for posting your opinion. Do you think y'all will stick with the 1 and done strategy?

I don’t think N.C. State will lose Kevin Keatts but I have heard his name mentioned in a few searches. He is a winner so I don’t blame them but I think Kevin knows a good thing when he sees it. The Pack will be getting stronger.

it works
we may only have one championship but could have very easily have 3 or 4 using it
how many teams not using it have even 1 title in their entire history
look at UT this year, they had a senior lead team, that was their best team since "Bert and Ernie" and never even made the FF
the NCAAT is a dice throw, one bad game and you are done regardless of if you are OAD or a team full of upper classmen

BTW the OAD is about to become all but history for everyone

I finally found Barnes. It was way back there. Laughing

But here is to Della. She finds something to brag about UT. The eternal optimist.

It is like the old Soviet Union. After losing to the U.S. the propaganda machine put out:

"The USSR finishes second. U.S. next to last."

It has never worked. 2012 Kentucky had the right mixture of experience and elite OAD talent and upperclassmen playing strong roles. Same with the 2015 Duke team.

Relying on 4-5 OADs has never worked when it comes to winning championships. It makes for high hopes and fun games. But ultimately leads to disappointment and hearing people talk about how you lost with "all that talent".

9 million to get one win out in three tries, pretty pricey.:D

if championships is all that matters then every school and fanbase has an abundance of disappointing years
how many teams from every school (Duke included) has had uppeclassmen teams that should have won it all but failed

the only difference i see in either model is that having elite OAD talent will put you in the hunt almost every year

I agree with the premise that championships aren't the only measure of success. And overall, Calipari has had more postseason success with the OADs. But it has been since 2015 that either Duke or Kentucky has been in the FF. It is that stretch that both teams have relied heavily on OADs.

...and others have adjusted.

Seriously though, we've both been so close. It clearly works.

The clear two and dones thinking they're one and dones is what drives me crazy. Come back. Be PJ Washington,. Or maybe Jones and Lamb and win a title.

and yeah, there's a seed in my bowl.

the thing about the NCAAT is one bad game ends your season
i try to enjoy the ride and most years deal with the heartbreak

two of my favorite Teams under Cal never won the title
Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins
Fox, Monk, Bam

What Calipari is doing better than Krzyzewski is getting the next tier recruits to come to Kentucky. I think that is because Calipari plays his bench. If we're being honest, all of us are in trouble if these OADs start committing to unc.
