A few notable items (among 92 P7 teams and "high" mid-majors):
  • Seton Hall, UNC, Butler, UK and MSU play the most KenPom top 25 teams with 4 each
  • Seton Hall, Tennessee, Michigan and Purdue play the most KenPom top 50 teams with 6 each
  • Seton Hall, Butler and Tennessee play the most teams coming off an NCAA bid with 7
  • Davidson plays 5 true road games. Depaul, SMU and Tulsa play 4.
  • On the flip side, Washington, USF, Texas A&M, St Johns, Indiana and Va Tech play zero true road games
  • Auburn plays just one KenPom sub 200 team. Several teams play just 2.
  • ECU plays 11 KenPOm sub 200 teams. Va Tech, Texas Tech, Gonzaga and South Carolina each play 8.

So the zags don’t really play anyone in conference and still avoid big teams ooc?
But then end up a 1 seed. Hmmmm

There are some holes with looking at data like that. First, the WCC only plays 16 conference games. So while playing 8 sub-200 games is a bit high, it's not like they only play 11 OOC games like the ACC or Big Ten.

Gonzaga's OOC schedule includes road games again Arizona, Washington, and Texas A&M. Home against UNC. Battle 4 Atlantis against Southern Miss, Seton Hall/Oregon, and then Michigan/Iowa State/UNC/Alabama in the final game. Odds are Gonzaga will have 5 top 25 OOC games.

Also, the WCC is going to be semi-decent this year. Saint Mary's is preseason #20. BYU has a really strong trio (Childs is a top 30 player + they bring in the WAC POY). And Pepperdine returns their starting 5, plus they're bringing in an Oregon transfer that was a 4-star recruit. Gonzaga will lose more than once in the WCC this year, IMO.

Well I was going to add that they did play a tough tourney last year and matched up with top teams and played Tennessee in our big year on a neutral site as well. But just felt like digging em some. Lol

I have a lot of respect for the program they have there. Seem to do a really good job with fun players.

That said I think it’s easier to get up for a few games a year than have to bring it every game.

I like we are playing Purdue early in the season.

Purdue is going to be a solid team but like last year it will take some time.

Great way to start the season. Played them last year in Austin and it was one of the better games of the season as Edwards put on a show for his friends and family.

Interested to see this one, as we'll definitely be a work in progress early, specifically on the offensive side.

What's your outlook on this year's team w/o Hayes, Roach, and that extremely Austin-looking 4 man.

KU plays home and home with the other conference teams. Throw in Duke, UCLA, Colorado, Stanford, and Villinova as tough non con and that's a pretty good schedule.

Texas is strong in the Backcourt.
Losing Roach was negated by bringing back Andrew Jones.

The bigs are the question.
Purdue's weaknesses are the strengths of Texas. Purdue's strengths are Texas' weaknesses
Sims has started before and was a NBA prospect after his first year but was pushed aside by Hayes.

The 4 is the issue. I am high on Liddell. I actually think he has the most upside of any player for Texas.
He suffered a concussion so if he plays on Saturday isn't for sure.

Texas is a fairly confident team with a lot of talent.
They think they can beat anyone and will do it with their guards.
Offensively and defensively.
