If the ACC implodes, what conference will Duke and UNC ultimately end up joining?

No conference is taking anybody "for their basketball".
Where you been last year when all the conference realignments were happening?

perhaps you haven't heard this from the B12 commish:

"Commissioner Brett Yormark wants the Big 12 Conference to have the type of respect on the basketball court that the SEC owns on the football field. More than that, he also wants media rights holders to pay for his conference’s basketball product as they do for football".

Here are the rankings for best national universities from US News. The contrast in rankings between the ACC and Big 12 is stark. More than half of the ACC schools are in the top 50, and every school, minus Louisville, is ranked ahead of Baylor, the top-ranked academic school in the Big 12. I think it's safe to say Duke won't be joining the Big 12, unfortunately

2 articles about the BIG12 in survival mode, that's cute.

Where have you been for the past 10 years of conference realignment? Should I link the thousands of articles about how Football and TV drives the bus?

Most of the football schools have already been snatched. No doubt, the BIG 12 and did a great job of saving themselves by adding some schools which have traditionally been basketball schools. I hope they throw Louisville a life line. But there's a reason why conferences want FSU, Clemson, and even Miami or NC State over Duke, UCONN and Louisville. It's because there are other, bigger factors. Basketball is just a kicker, a bonus. It's never been the objective.
