With the big 12 now the monster of the college bball scene of the last 5 years running and not ending anytime soon, was looking back at the greatest eras of any commences ever…..

…..I think it’s an Easy answer. The old big east is the GOAT run of any bball conference of all time. I’d add more stats such as different teams in tourney per year, final four appearances, etc. but don’t have that time lol:

Big East 1980’s to 2013 (2013 end of former Big east):
- natties: UConn (4x, 1999-2014), Syracuse (2003), Louisville (80, 86, 2013), G’town (84), Nova (85),

ACC 2000’s to 2010’s - the era of peak Roy Williams and Coach K.
- natties: Maryland (02), duke (01, 10, 15), UNC (05, 09, 17), Uva 2019

Big 10 70’s to 80’s - the era of Bobby Knight, and Steve fisher/fab five, etc.
- natties: Sparty (79) Michigan (89), Indiana (76, 81, 87)

Big 12 2018-present - the most recent conference of dominance - just started:
- natties: Baylor (21) KU (22)

PAC 12 - the era of Wooden. 60’s and 70’s. Doesn’t really count bc it’s one team. Out.

Big East has 1 championship in the 90s. ACC had 3 I believe. Also you forgot the UVA championship of 2019
Ya I got it now. Fixed on uva

It’s tough to cut off the big east for one decade. It was really a 30 year run with all those same teams and coaches. Granted like Thompson’, and Rollie was more 80’s weighted. Pitino, Calhoun and Boeheim more 2000’s weighted. But look at the depth of the big east in that 30 year window. It’s insane. Cincy and Loisville didn’t join until what? 2000?

MSG for the big east tourney in the 2000’z and early 2010’s WAS the national champion in that time frame. Nothing like it .

I'd be perfectly fine with Kansas State winning a championship this year. Why? Because it would mean VT would be the ONLY team from a P5 conference that doesn't have a national championship in any NCAA sport. Go Wildcats!

So your vote is ACC of this century thenn?

Huh? I’m talking about the 90s. I don’t know who the conference of the 90s was. Maybe the ACC? Maybe the SEC? (Arkansas and Kentucky were both awesome).

But it definitely wasn’t the Big East as some dominant monster. So your whole “1980-2013” thing is nonsensical.

Why is some form of this thread posted every other day?

There has only been one truly dominate program for an extended period of time and that is UCLA 1964- 1975. They won 10 titles in a 12 year stretch and 7 in a row during that period. That is the definition of dominance and that is the answer.

So Duke wins back to back titles in 91 and 92 and goes to 7-9 FF’s and you say the Big East.

UNc wins in 93 and goes to back to back FF’s in the late 90’s and you say Big East.

Wrong.

It's still another history lesson. We are in February, the Dance is around the corner and people should be talking about the current season.

Cuse were runners-up in ‘87 and ‘96.

Not that that makes a difference, just noting it.

Ya I was talking long-standing overall strength. The runner ups, final fours, tourney appearances top 25 finishes etc all come into play
