First off, I agree whole-heartily. Secondly, I'm thankful the tournament is being played this year. Great to see the Big Dance back in full swing.
Just glad that UVA is given a chance to defend our title. Love this time of the year. Missed it badly last year.
My girlfriend was never much of a basketball fan, but I got her to start following the Illini when we started dating 3.5 years ago. She started learning who the players were during the 2019 season, when Ayo was a freshman and we were terrible but showed some flashes (e.g., beating #9 MSU or winning at OSU). She really started to get into it last year when we were getting hot in the second half of the year and playing our best basketball going into March Madness, only to have it ripped away.
She has been anticipating her first March Madness where she would also get to follow the Illini, and it kind of got me excited for it in a way I hadn't been in several years. Long story short, yesterday did not disappoint! So many great games and big upsets, and it was an awesome day just watching the best sporting event of the year all day!
