Pretty much. There was a huge discrepancy in the early days. I mean, UNC did do a little better in the 80's and 90's, I'll grant them that. But even still, if I go back the past 4 decades, Duke is 48-40.

And yet it's essentially the same thing other UNC fans were doing at the beginning of this thread, touting Roy's recent tournament success over K even though he hasn't fared so well against Duke himself. Only difference is, going to the Final Four 7 times in a 9 year span is much more impressive than 5 Final Fours in a 13 year span.
It’s like fans shift the narrative to support their POV.
An argument can be made for Wooden, Dean, and K to be at the top. I don’t value Championships as the ultimate measure of success for a college basketball coach. Too many variables in a OAD tourney. Even if Roy wins another, I’d still place Dean as a better coach of the game. He also coached in a tougher period where it was much harder to get in the tourney.
Anyone can cherry pick a time frame to make their argument. I’m into overall numbers but you don’t have much in that regard before K got to Duke.
