Dark horses to make a Final Four run.

I think it was Ghost that said "I see Bacot's transformation is almost complete".
Now I can't watch uNC without laughing hysterically. He’s right.

In the last 10 Final Fours, there have been 10 schools that were a 7 seed or lower. Let's recap.

2011: 8- Butler, 11- VCU
2013: 9- Wichita State
2014- 7- UConn, 8- Kentucky
2015- 7- Michigan State
2016- 10- Syracuse
2017- 7- South Carolina
2018- 11- Loyola Chicago
2021- 11- UCLA

That's 25% of the FF teams. Basically, one team a year. 7 seeds are more than likely going to fall out of the top 25. So I'd say a true darkhorse should be someone that isn't currently ranked. I'd be cool if we had 4 top 10 teams in the Final Four. But, here are some teams not currently in the AP top 25 that might have Final Four Potential...

Alabama
Miami
TCU
Mississippi State
Indiana
Davidson

Also, forgot about Oregon. They still have some work to do just to get into the tournament. Their OOC season was atrocious. But, they have solid road wins over UCLA, USC, and Colorado. They have athletes. They have experience. And Altman is a great coach. I would not want to face them in the 1st or 2nd Round.

Arkansas if they can make it in.

I'm really surprised this teams hasn't been as good as I thought that they would be.

I believe that they lost Moody and maybe the big guy inside from last year but brought in an entire teams worth of transfers to go along with the other 4 or so familiar faces of quality players.

Arkansas is underperforming and Miami is over performing. Gee, I wonder what could be the cause of that???

Easiest way to figure this out is to guess which 7 seed will be in Auburn’s bracket and choose that team as your dark horse.

I believe Notae was out with injuries for a while.

Illinois is far from a dark horse IMO. They’re really good healthy.
But we’ve been healthy like three games, haha. So definitely a lot of fans out there sayin’ we aren’t anything special. Given last year’s Loyola upset, I guess I’m fine with proving it this March.

I've seen some projections showing Oregon as a 12 seed and playing in Portland. I would be furious if I was coaching a team that got a 5 seed and had to play Oregon in Portland in the Round of 64

Oregon is a good one.

They need to get Guerrier going. They're starting to get consistent, good play out of Young and Richardson but they really need a 3rd guy they can count on.

That would be a tough matchup, no question. And Altman has already had success as a 12 seed; made it to the Sweet 16 in 2013 and 2019 as a 12. Still ten regular season games left. Not a crazy amount of high-quality games, but if you guys could take 2 of 3 against UCLA, USC, and Arizona, that could move you up several spots.

He was 3rd Team All-ACC last year. His pedestrian play has really been surprising. Thought I got a steal when I took him in the 8th round of the draft. Was thinking he'd be at least 2nd Team All-Conference.

Been thinking about that RE: Chicago if Illinois winds up as like a 6-seed and get placed there. What a raw deal for the 3, lol.
