Cuse-Duke

Jesus Christ, Zion is amazing. So huge, so quick... great hands... and such a motor. He’s on an entirely different level than anyone else.

Still in absolute awe of Zion. Interested in where he ends up, as far as the conversation about the all time great freshmen, once the season wraps up.

Meh, I think it's different although I don't like Jay's take as I was wanting Allen kicked off the team at the time. This was a deliberate attempt to RE-injure Zion while Allen was usually being a punk.

That's taking it a bit far. It was deliberate, but no different than Grayson's trips. Emotional reactions, not premeditated BS.

Actually it was different imo......it was nowhere near the level of Allens blatant trips.

Where the hell have YOU been?

Allen's were bad.

This move was definitely douchey... he knew that Zion was just out hurt, and you know that was in his head.

Anyway... the big takeaway from the game has to be that Zion is insanely good. I'll be curious to see, depending on how the season ends up, where he ends up in the "best freshmen in history" conversation. I do hope that people don't get stuck on team achievement when discussing individual achievement, because the two things do not totally connect.

That wasn't emotional, it wasn't heat of the moment, it was to try and get him out of the game.

Oh, I think it was "heat of the moment", if the opposite is premeditated. I don't think the kid was waiting for the right moment to try to take Zion out... I think Zion was making them look bad, and had just pulled off a great play, and he stuck his foot out.

How do you know this?

These are my thoughts

Eh, I don't think so. Did you see Frank's face? It was one notch above expressionless. That's as emotional as I've ever seen him.

Duke was pulling away and Zion was flexin' down the court after a dunk. I don't think it's a leap for Frank's thought to be, 'let me trip this big showboating bastard cuz he's irritating right now'. That's more believable than Frank, with no history of dirty shenanigans in 4 years, sitting in the locker room pregame and deciding he's going to stab Zion in the knee if he gets the chance.

Does it upset people that Duke doesn't have that player to hate this year?

There's no Grayson Allen level hate but you still have some hate-worthy people on your team. Barrett with his "we wear black because it's the other team's funeral" comment and AOC just being himself are relatively hate-worthy. But they're just meh compared to Grayson's punk ass.

Zion is excellent and easy to root for. It's the media that drives any hate towards him. I understand he's a generational talent but it's ridiculous how much attention he gets. Good for him for staying as humble as he has in spite of it. I will root for him in the NBA.

The knife would probably break if you tried to stab Zion tbh. Tripping is a much safer play.

It's effing hilarious that Jay Williams is blowing up social media over one alleged trip attempt. Where were his lectures after Allen's 25th trip?

Grayson tripped scrubs for the most part. This is tripping Zion, who is ESPN's protected son.

Life has been really busy. I've been gone so much I almost don't know whats going on outside my own bubble.

This season has been a rough one as well. Its not that 24-8 is terrible, its how it has happened. Some of these losses have been bad enough you don't even want to watch espn, rivals, or sports highlights b/c you'll have to hear about again and again.

L1-Literally gave ASU the game on a silver platter--total implosion.
L2-Get drubbed in the 2nd conference game vs ISU
L3-Lost @ WVU being up 6 with 2:30 left. Literally imploded again against a team below 500 and on a 6 o r7 game losing streak.
L4-Lost in Rupp after being up at half. Mental mistakes down the stretch
L5-Lose to shaka smart for the first time ever. Needed an 11 pt run to get to 23 points at halftime. Never really in the game.
L6-Lose to KSU, Self benches vick for 25 min, We hand the game to our rival by committing 24 TO's--I think 11 were completely unforced
L7-Ass absolutely kicked by Tech(29 pt loss)--a game that had huge big 12 implications. We beat this Tech team by 16 points 3 weeks earlier---up 25 down the stretch until we took off the heat. Thats a 50 pt differential over a couple weeks.
L8-Ass kicked @OU by not showing up. Down 20 in the first half. No fire.

Our lows have been significantly lower than any of our highs. We haven't had this kind of season in a long time. We have talent, we can be really good---but we don't have that one piece that makes me think we could make it any further than the sweet 16. We have a 50/50 chance of being 1 and done. Almost every year there is a clear path to the final four if we play to our potential---or close to it. I don't think that potential even exists and that is a bummer.

I watched it again and I guess it doesn't look as bad b/c he didn't fall--but it's a pretty big stretch to say that was accidental. Looked like a straight legged, locked knee, trip. It was intentional and I'm not sure wtf Howards endgame was there, had he succeeded. It doesn't seem as better as all of Graysons---probably b/c he wasn't as good at it lol. But I'd much rather see hard fouls, shoving, bumping than cheap shots like tripping, nut taps, undercutting.

Zion was insanely good before last night. He is easily the most memorable freshman since Durant and def the most popular CBB. I don't think I'd take picks 2 AND 3 over just having zion as an NBA GM. He is def POY

Barrett is kinda easy to dislike!

There are some people saying this, but I don't get it. RJ is almost expressionless at all times during a game. He occasionally does a bicep flex, but that's about it. He is one of the least expressive Duke stars I've ever seen. I can't help but think that people are just primed to dislike big time players, and Duke guys in particular.

1-I have an aversion to lefties
2-I feel like he plays a lot like harden and I cant stand harden. Too much flailing, too many bail outs when out of control driving.
3-Seems to complain about fouls more than the avg bear.
4-Does not defer to zion when its obvious he should---Ive yelled at the tv and still......nothing.

I don't hate him or anything but I disliked him more after he made the funeral comment. He's just a one year Duke player so it's tough to hate him. The OAD model really does diminish any hate you can develop for a player. Zion is one of my favorite non-UVA players so hard to automatically say that people are just primed to hate big time players that play for Duke.

My brother just sent me these from the SportsCenter Instagram post of the trip:

Zion being a once in a generation talent, along with having this big ass smile plastered across his face all the time, is a freak occurrence, and I don't think undermines the general idea that people like hating Duke players:)

They found tripping blueprints in Howard's dorm room this morning, it was premeditated.

Probably because most Duke players aren't like Zion
