Question for the board; Will Capel be able to haul in top recruits to Pitt, or does his prowess diminish without the "D" on his shirt? I suspect it was a symbiotic relationship. Will either be the same without each other now?

I think Capel will eventually be able to recruit 5-star prospects, yes. But I don't suspect he'll be going after many (or any) until the 2020 class. I think his first true recruiting class (2019) he'll probably zone in on local talent + guys in the 75-150 range.

He is a good recruiter but at Pitt he will be searching more for diamonds in the rough. He will have to build a team by getting good 3 star and a few 4 star players. He has plopped his but down in the middle of the Big East and Big ten conferences as far as recruiting goes.

Do you think he can put Pitt on the list of final schools for top talent?
I think he can get some top players interested. I think he will do a good job of bringing in the best guys from PA and surrounding states and not letting them get out of his area. I think he can surprise some people with who he can get to look at Pitt.

Good recruiters are amplified when they have big programs behind them because they have facilities, traditions, established networks in pro leagues and usually have showcase games.

He will get some players for sure though.

I’m sure he’ll get his guys. Didn’t hurt he was at duke, but he was a solid recruiter before that stint.

Yes. Jon Scheyer is the new money man.
