Hey, I'm pulling for your Noles in that one....it just seems like the kind of matchup for U6 could screw around and win. Hamilton overall hasn't given a whole lot of reason to be confident the past few years. Wasn't aware of his home record, though. I hope you guys get the W.
UL could win because UL is a good team that has been improving over the course of the season. FSU also dealing with injuries to two starters, one of whom has missed like 12 games.
But the hate Hamilton gets from a lot of folks nationally is just illogical. People call him "nothing but a recruiter," which couldn't be further from the truth. We have three top 100 recruits on the roster. Top 100, not top 25. One of whom is badly injured. There's not a player on the roster currently projected to be selected in this year's draft. And we are 16-5 and coming off an Elite 8 appearance where we beat UL's new head coach, Chris Mack, and his 1 seeded Musketeers.
All Hamilton has done in his time at FSU is become the winningest coach in school history, win our first and only ACC Championship, become extremely difficult to beat in Tallahassee, dominate our two rivals head to head, and consistently beat more talented teams in the ACC.
Hamilton coached teams represent 38% of FSU's total NCAAT appearances in school history (42% after this year), 44% of the total second round appearances in school history, and 40% of the total Sweet 16 appearances in school history. All while operating at a program that is woefully underfunded compared to its conference mates, has laughable facilities, and was losing to teams like American and Western Carolina at home the season before he took over.
