Are we sure Flagg is the best or even second best freshman?

Harper and Bailey at Rutgers might have something to say about that.

All three of them are amazing. I’m assuming they’ll go 1-2-3 in the draft.

Flagg is really good. I want to see the Rutgers guys and haven't yet. Flagg never really looked as good as he was hyped IMO but that isn't his fault. So many of the recruiting guys made it out like he was some generational talent instead of just really good, which he is.

Bailey has freak athleticism and nasty midrange game. He might have the most upside of anyone college basketball.

His versatility is off the charts. But, he needs to improve his perimeter shooting and tighten his handle a bit. A little too careless with the ball at times. Gotta remember that he's still only 17. He'll get better. Some compare his game to Andrei Kirilenko... with a better offense.

As an offensive weapon, I like Dylan Harper better. He can score anywhere on the court at will. It's a lot easier to envision Harper scoring 25+ ppg in the NBA than Flagg. Bailey is also very intriguing. He seems like he can go off for 20 points in a half, if it were needed. He's a good shooter and he can simply rise up and shoot over his defenders. It'll be interesting to see how he handles taller more athletic defenders in the NBA, as he'll obviously need to create more separation. But he's oozing with potential.

Honestly, this freshmen class is really, really good. Best one we've had since at least the 2017-18 season. Illinois probably has the best trio of freshmen in the country. Duke's trio probably goes a bit higher in the draft. Can't forget about Tre Johnson. That guy can get buckets. Oklahoma's Jeremiah Fears is putting up really solid numbers is going relatively unnoticed.

I still think Flagg has the highest ceiling, but he's not head and shoulders above his peers. Harper is the closest. And a dark horse candidate could be BYU's Egor Demin. He's a bit too unselfish at times, but this kid can ball. 6'9 point guard that can shoot and throw some absolute dimes. Check out this pass last night.

4 guys competing for the #1 pick. And I guess you could say Egor Demin is no longer a dark horse... I just don't hear a whole lot of chatter about him, at least in comparison to the other 3.

Flagg is a shorter white ben simmons with a better jump shot and a worse spin move.

The only game I have seen of Flag was against UK. He is a remarkable player, but he is not superman. In the closing minutes Duke appeared to make the decision that the game was on Flag. Flag was incapable of beating UK's 5 all by himself and therefore Duke lost. I thought that decision cost Duke any chance of winning that game.

Yeah, Scheyer is going to have to spread the wealth more, he’s trying to run the offense through Flagg. Kid is good, but he’s not a guy that is going ro win 1 on 5 the way Carmello Anthony, or Zion could. Flagg is incredibly fundamentally sound and great at mid range jumpers and finishing at the rim, but it’s unfair to have him starting the offense so far from the basket so often.
Team has plenty of talent, he just needs to utilize it.

I'm glad you saw it the same way. It became apparent to everyone watching including UK that Flag was tasked with single handedly winning the game and UK just collapsed on him and smothered him. Duke didn't choke, but their coach did with that decision. Sorry for being so blunt, but that's the way I saw it.

It’s very possible that the other guys weren't ready for the moment. Scheyer did the same thing in the Kansas game, but he tried to let Kneupple take some of the reins, but it ended badly, the kid went 0-8 from 3 point range and 4-14 from everywhere else. That’s not going to work.

Maluach only took 2 shots in the KU game. That’s malpractice, that guy is a beast.

Foster took 4 total shots. He should shoot more.

Proctor went 5-7 from 3, he never took a shot inside the arch.

Scheyer has a lot to work with, he just has to use it. They could be elite defensively and on the glass with the size they have.

And Evans, who has shown some good skill against our weaker competition didn’t play a single minute against ky or Kansas. As bad as some of the other players weee shooting, I would liked to have seen what Evans may have been able to provide. At less 3 or 4’ just to see. Kon should not be playing 35 plus minutes per game

Got to see Demin last night. Turned it off with 9 minutes left in the game because he was so terrible. The passing is great, but he didn't bring anything else to the game and when I turned it off he was 0fer from the field.

Yeah, bad game to see him for the first time. He might have been pressing a bit for the NBA scouts, which I believe half the NBA teams were in attendance (if I heard correctly). Had a few shots go in-and-out. He'll have better days. One thing I don't like about Demin is he often initiates offense close to half court.

Playing on the road can be tough. So to Flagg's credit, his first true road game was actually pretty solid.
