25 best coaching hires in the last 25 years

Here's the thing... you are trying to win this argument on the hypothetical performance of next year's group that Fran has assembled. Until he actually wins in the tournament, your are pissing into the win. Constantly getting into what this group looks like is great, but it is unproven to date and banking 1 group with great potential against a thread that highlights the BEST hires in the last 25 years ain't gonna cut it. He is up against coaches that actually ALREADY did it, not potential. Gonna be hard to convince folks on the board by just re-showing the roster information and potential.

That said, Garza is awesome and you do have a very good looking roster. Fran SHOULD be able to deliver with this group. Again, he just hasn't yet in the last 25 years. Next year at this time, hopefully you then could have a case.....

I would think that Fran should be on there somewhere before some of these other.
1 of 4 coaches to take bottom of their leagues to the NCAAT 4 Different schools. with far less talent than those listed, even at Iowa he does not have the type of talent than most of those on that list.

Fran should not be considered simply because his name is Fran, imo.

then they get back 3/4 RSFR 6'9 Patrick top 100 4* by both, National HS POY in the 3 on 3, then made the US Olympic's 3 on 3 team.

I believe Nova would have won it all again, but its all team tinted glasses at this point. So mentioning the roster make up and potential again still doesnt make him one of the best 25 hires in the last 25 years...

recruiting is part of being a good coach and this group rivals Lutes teams that won a BT Championship and went to the FF.

MOST of these preseason polls and brackets are based off of the star rankings of these teams in the too early polls and brackets.

you can't have it both ways where a certain set of coaches are based on what they did with far better recruits than the one that you trash, then when that coach gets player that are rated higher then you talk out of the other side of your face. you and some of these other are total hypocrites.

not many teams will have a consensus 1st Team AA and NPOY by sports writers and Sporting News.

the most important part is they are all healthy, return 2 former starters. giving Fran 7 players with starting experience.
C Garza SR 23.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 26 steals and 55 blocks
WG RSJR Connor 6.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg led the BT and Nation in assist to TO ratio 124 assist to 27 TO's in 31 games with 35 steals
WG JR Wieskamp 14.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 32 steals and 15 blocks
G RSSO Fredrick 10.2 ppg, 69 assist to 32 TO's shooting 46.1% from 3
PG SO Toussaint 6.5 ppg, 2nd in assists with 90, led the team in steals with a 1.2 avg [36 total]

those were the starters with 3 of them being 1st year starters. now this year they will be 2nd year starters and will be joined by 2 former starters. making this the best team in Fran's tenure,.

making the NCAAT With less talent than most P5 teams was done by a damn good coach, now he has his best team to date it is easy to project what this team can do.

lets see what your precious coach do what Fran did with the same level of recruits and not by cheating.

Pitino won by cheating with the strippers, hookers and $$$$$.

2/3 of the coaches on this list “could have” accomplished big things in the tournament if it was played this year.
