2019 Conference POY Picks

Carsen Edwards
Cassius Winston
Jordan Murphy
Juwan Morgan
Ethan Happ

That's who I got for preseason All-B1G first team. Could honestly see anyone of them winning PotY as well.

Yep agree with that 1st Team but could see Charles Matthews or Zavier Simpson from Michigan making it too.

Feel free to add in your 1st team picks as well.

Big 10: Cassius Winston
ACC: RJ Barrett
SEC: Tremont Waters
Big 12: Barry Brown
PAC 12: Bol Bol
Never heard of any of these guys. NCAA BB is dead

How is Barry Brown going to be the Big 12 POY when he won't even be the best player on his team? He won't even be 1st team All-Big 12. The POY is going to be Dedric Lawson and it won't even be close.

Wigginton
Grimes
Lawson
Wade
Konate

Where are you guy's getting Cassius Winston? I can think of at least 10 other players in the Big Ten that will be better than him.

Ever heard of Lindell Wigginton?

Yes. Probably could have included him. But I didn't really think about Iowa State a whole lot as they were at least 4 games behind every team in the Big 12 last year. He's much more likely to have a better individual season than Doke, for example. But Azubuike is more likely to win POY as he's playing for a vastly superior team.

This post wreaks of lack of research. Yes Iowa St was bad last year but they will be back in the top half of the Big 12 next year.

He averaged 12.6 ppg and 6.9apg with a ridiculous 68 TS%. He had a very good year last year and if he shoots anywhere close to as good as he did,
he is going to have another very good year.

No Juwan Morgan? How do you not at least have him as an Honorable mention? He'll he very well could be BTPOY preseason pick. At worse he's 2nd team.

Yep. In all likelihood, he's the preseason fav for BTPOY.

If we’re talking end of season I’d put money on Jordan Poole over those two. He’s going to have a monster breakout this year

Cassius Winston lol what?
#1 in Assists
#1 in Assist %
#1 in TS%
#1 in Offensive Win Shares
#1 in Offensive Rating
#1 in Offensive Box Plus-Minus

Those were his conference ranks last season. Yeah he only averaged 12.6 points a game, but they were incredibly efficient and he was one of the best passers in college basketball.

Sub-par defender & will be handicapped at the end of the day by his lack of athleticism scoring ability. He’s not POY material.

Feel like this is a copy and paste post about Frank Kaminsky from the 2015 conference/NCAA player of the year thread.

He probably deserves some consideration. I was mostly going from memory, so I'm sure there are a few noticeable absences from my list.

There are countless college point guards who weren’t extremely athletic but had good scoring ability. Frank Mason, to use a recent example.

Cassius can score, at an extremely high efficiency. He has nice touch and can be crafty down low. Best shooter and passer in the Big Ten last year. I’d say he has a shot.

That’s being said, I don’t think he wins it. I’ll bet he’s all Big Ten first team along with Ethan Happ, Juwan Morgan, Charles Matthews, and Carsen Edwards.

It will be interesting to see how his efficiency is impacted as he has to shoulder more of the offensive load. Same is clearly true of Edwards at Purdue. But I think the success of MSU will be largely defined by how the trio of Winston, Ward, and Langford adjust to more prominent roles.

I completely agree, there is no way he can maintain that level of efficiency if he is the first option, but you can’t disregard how crazy those stats are. He shot great. He’s a good shooter, no doubt about it. He was actually at 60 something percent for a while til he went through a slump of shooting about 45% from three, which brought him down to mid 50’s.

I really think Langford is the key to this teams success. We know what Ward and Cash can do, but if he can turn into an (EFFICIENT) outside scoring threat and reliable defender that would immensely help out MSU.
