Vols lose Turner (PG). His career is over.

You are totally off base dude. UK had two 50,000 watt clear channels covering the games. I never said that UK was the only one, because LSU, Vandy, and Georgia had one. Auburn did not have a damned one.

I spend most of my career out of Kentucky. And by doing so I experienced the big difference in radio and television coverage of Kentucky versus the other SEC schools. You are just way, way off base on basically everything you post.

Yeah, uh, that’s not true at all.....

Where are you getting auburn did not have radio until the 80s? It’s completely incorrect. I already showed you it was Incorrect. You are fully wrong here. Merry Christmas and stop posting. You are to much of a UK homer. You are wrong.
I never said Auburn did not have radio. I said they did not have coverage over the entire eastern U.S. I stick with that statement.

I will not stop posting until a mods bans me. Geeze you are a turd.

Bert does "clear channel" mean they were clear and without distortion? Winking
It means that they could transmit 50,000 watts during the night and that no other station could transmit that frequency at night. The clear channels were established by treaty in the early 1940's. They are still around today and are protected.

Yes he is dumb. I literally linked and showed him where radio broadcast existed before the 80s for auburn and he just won’t admit he was wrong
Stubborn? Probably. But dumb? Not even close. And he is not saying AU didn't have coverage. He's saying they didn't have the capabilities of UK. And they didn't. Actually, not many did. Kentucky basketball, in the state, is religion man. Its a lore. Especially so in the Eastern part of the state. I'll tell you this---In the mountains of eastern Kentucky? No way I'd wear anything Indiana/UL. Nope.
Edit: very true story. Two years ago, or whenever UK lost to K-State, I was in Grayson, Kentucky, working a college baseball series. My wife and I watched the game in the hotel. I went out to smoke, and made a mistake---I forgot I had my IU hat on. When I walked up and joined the "smoke area", you would have thought I had insulted every single person there. I was like, "WTF"? Then realized---I was wearing a god damn IU hat, in eastern Kentucky--THE MOUNTAINS, on a night where UK lost in the NCAAT.

Not my best moment.

Thanks Borden. Folks in Auburn call you dumb if you are more informed than they.

Nope. Prove me wrong.

Note in the list there ain't a damned one in Alabama.

You are moving the goal post now. This was strictly about radio broadcast. No discussion was ever had about capabilities. You literally said auburn didn’t have radio broadcast until the 80s. That was factually incorrect. You are an absolute joke that no one should ever take seriously again.

I did not. Geeze fellow you are thinking about someone other than me. Maybe you should stop the entertainment, get sober and read.

No it was you. Instead of just admitting you were wrong you try to now change the argument. Take your loss and move on

So just to catch up, in 2019 almost 2020, when u can stream damn near any game played anywhere over the Internet, y’all are arguing about who has/had the best radio channels??? carry on then.......
"y’all are arguing about who has/had the best radio channels???" No not really.

In 1940 everyone in the eastern United States could listen to Kentucky basketball on radio. Because of that UK ended up with the biggest following in basketball. Just like the Grand Ole Opry. Folks listened and it became part of the culture.

No do you understand?

Outside of Alabama you could not find Auburn on radio. But our local bozo has no concept.

Folks still depend on radio when they are out and about. Of course you , Villian, don't follow a team so you don't have to worry about stuff like that.

Changing it up again. Originally it was the 80s. Now we are talking the 40s. Give it a rest gramps

It sure as hell was not me bozo. If you would get over your chemical addiction your memory will come back.

It definitely was you. Nice I original jab to. My birthday is 420. I was born 7 weeks early. But thanks for your uniformed concern, your ere wrong. You lost here. Back to your lawn gramps

I never dated Auburn. You cover your lies with additional lies.

Here is the radio thread.

I went to more than one school, but I root for Kentucky. My sister had a Ph.D. from Vandy and was a dyed in the wool Kentucky. Was she dumb for picking the good guys?

Auburn does have a bunch of pretty girls. I will give you that.

Auburn was covered in sports just as long as Kentucky has been. Good lord some of you need to leave your state occasionally.

527 AuHoosier420, Dec 1, 2019

That is simply not the truth.

Rupp's biggest recruiting tool was WHAS and WCKY carrying the games. Those two stations could be picked up in two thirds of the nation. That is why Lurker said the people got out in their cars to find a place for good reception. It went over your head because you never followed your team on the radio. Even today many UK fans mute the TV and listen to UK radio play by play.

Attendance: Alabama and Auburn have no basketball following and no history. They play in small arenas now and always have because of no following. The football following is great but no one gives a shit about basketball. Sorry, but that it the truth.

I spend most of my life living outside of Kentucky. I have lived in Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, Texas and Maryland. None of those areas have a following for a school like Kentucky has.

On to Television: The old Kentucky basketball "network" began with WKYT in Lexington and WAVE in Louisville established a group of stations to cover Kentucky basketball (1950's). Those were replaced by regional sports coverage like TVS sports, but even then the guys that did the games for WAVE and WCKY ended up doing the regional games for the sports networks.

I still have the old phone numbers for WAVE, WCKY, TVS et.al. that I need to call so I could find out what the sat would be used for what game. I lived through the eras before the advent of cable TV when little was handy.

I am sorry but you are simply wrong. You need to listen to a radio call of a game by Cawood Ledford or Claud Sullivan. Then you would understand the "Religion" of UK basketball.

Damn man, Alabama does not have a damned clear channel radio station. The old folks that grew up with radio never heard the Alabama games outside the State.

You can lie all you want but it is still a fact that Auburn never (NEVER) had the radio coverage that Kentucky did. Check out the Clear Channel AM radio stations. They still exist and were the original chartered stations with the legal ability to transmit at 50,000 watts 24 hours a day. Those stations were assigned a frequency that no other radio station could transmit after daylight hours at the large wattage and interfere with them. In other words they could be heard across most of the nation.

For a change why don't you research the subject before you make stupid and incorrect claims. I can back my claims and you can't.

I am confident that Auburn's games were on radio. However, the whole discussion was where those radio signals could be picked up. I never could get them in Kentucky, but I could get Tennessee, Indiana, LSU, Vandy et.al.

So until you get smart enough to follow logic I am out of this. I am trying to argue facts and you ignore all facts.

Just curious....How did he prove you right? His initial argument was---"Auburn didn't have, two, 50,000 watt radio stations". He never said Auburn wasn't on the radio. He just said they didn't have the capabilities of reaching the nation(or most of it), as UK did. In other words, he was simply stating that basically Auburn was regulated to regional coverage, i.e. The State of Alabama. You argued he said Auburn wasn't on the radio. He said you were wrong. You said "nope". He then produces said thread that shows ,well, its NOT what he said.

Again---How did he prove you right?

It’s right there in thread. He literally claimed UK was the only team in the SEC with radio capabilities. Not surprised the two old backwood geezers in the board have the worst reading comprehension skills

Welcome to our world lol. I grew up in eastern Kentucky. It was insane. It gave a lot of the poor in the area to something to feel good about.

So it’s not the winning or the tradition, that bbn loves to beat their chests about, its the fact that UK had the best radio transmitters in the post world war eras that gave UK a huge national following, like the cubs when they showed every game on wgn or the braves on TBS.

I can’t even argue bc I wasn’t alive yet, but still I’d bet that 75% of uk fans have direct or family ties to the state of Kentucky or the school one. If not they are just like the bama football/uk basketball fans that are all over the state. Fair weathered fans who need a good team to give them something to feel proud about, bc their real life doesn’t provide that opportunity for them much.

And my team is coming to give UK and their massive radio following it’s 3rd straight L

And that’s exactly what y’all are arguing about, I don’t need the context. Nor do I need a 50000 watt transmitter to listen to my team play when I can stream it over my phone and actually watch my team play.

In 1940 Al Gore had not invented the internet.

There are so many parts of this post that are just stupid so rather than extend the stupidity I will hit "Post Reply"

It was not me, Butt Hole; or are you Beavis?

You keep repeating that and you are damned wrong. Hell I did not even know who Jim Fyffe was to start with. Of course you can't read anyway!

Memory loss definitely comes with old age and you are proving that. You may want to get checked out old man

I proved that it was not me Beavis. The lack of memory is now in your court. I gave you chapter and verse.

I sure hope you never have to go to court. If so you are sure as hell in trouble.

you haven’t proved shit. All you did was cut and paste certain parts.

You will are done March. You just aren’t very intelligent here. Claimed auburn hadn’t okayed anyone. Yet we have the most top 100 wins in the country. Kentucky wouldn’t be undefeated with our schedule
Laughing I mean, congrats on your wins over the 71st, 76th, 85th, 86th and 91st ranked teams. Way to beat up on the bottom , of the Top 100. Your best win is over NC State(36th). WHo freaking lost to an awful GaTech team----at home. Your second best win is Liberty. You guys have exactly ONE Top 50, win(NC State). The exact same amount as UK. Kentucky though, has played two Top 50 teams(OSU/MSU). MOF, thats not just two Top 50 teams---But two TOP 5 teams. About to play another one tomorrow in Louisville. You have it backwards my friend. Its Auburn who wouldn't be undefeated with UK's schedule---Not the other way around. But hey, congrats on those wins over Furman, St. Louis and Liberty. After all, they are Top 100 wins..Laughing

Where have I doubted Auburn? I just find it funny you guys are beating your chest over wins, vs the likes of Furman, St. Louis, Liberty, etc, etc....Hell Indiana has better wins than that...Laughing
