The NBA pay scale is messed up..

Lebron
Giannis
Durant
Kawhi
Luka
Steph
Harden
Jokic
Embiid
AD
PG-13
Butler
Dame

That’s 13 before you start getting to the debatable category.

Personally, I’d take Tatum, Zion, Mitchell, Chris Paul, Booker, and Beal all over him depending on the roster I had.

Casual.
and Kyrie. Kyrie is much better than Trae.

I'll give you the bolded 10, but PG-13, Dame and Butler are very debatable. Trae definitely better than Dame. Scores as much, but passes way more and is about the same on defense.

He's also clearly better than Zion, Mitchell, CP3, Booker and Beal. Tatum is debatable I guess.

Offensively he's better than all those guys. It comes down to how much you believe his defense detracts from his overall rank.

How can you say Trae is definitely better than Dame? Dame is the marginally more efficient scorer. Trae is a better passer (not by a lot), but more careless with the ball. Both can’t play defense.

It’s debatable for sure. I don’t know how you could call Trae ‘definitely’ better.

I think they are essentially equal in terms of scoring with slight edge to Dame, but Trae has as bigger edge in playmaking. Defense is a wash. Either way they are very close overall, yet a lot of people who put Dame in the top 15 laugh at the idea of Trae being in the top 15.

Paul George and Jimmy Butler are better players.

Jimmy averaged 26.8 ppg, 9.8 apg, 8.3 rpg just last year in the finals.

Paul George averaged 29 ppg 10 rpg 5 apg in his last 2 series this year, while being the primary facilitator of an offense and their lockdown defender ok the other end.

No GM would take Trae over Dame if they needed a PG this year… Maybe in the future, but not now.

The rest are debatable, but everyone one of them averaged more points and rebounds than Trae in the regular season, while also being bigger and better defenders.

Rebounds? That's some quality cherry picking there. I will concede that Trae does not rebound well.

Trae averaged nearly 30/10 in a run to the ECF so what's your point?

Rebounds are cherry picking now?

Players that average more points, are better on the glass, and better defensively are (usually) better overall players…

Not a tough concept.

This reminds me of the AU poster who said Booker was a top 10 player.

He could still get there in the future, he just isn’t there yet.

Trae Young is really not fun to watch. He hits a deep, off balance, no-look, behind the back, between the legs, over the shoulder, three from 3/4 court and you go, “oh, that was nice.”

Then he flails around in the lane, throws the ball over the backboard and acts like he just got hit in the face with a machete the next possession.

Ruins it.

If Zion played as hard on defense as he did at Duke, he'd be a top 15 player. Dude was a defensive monster at Duke, constantly getting in passing lanes and providing weak side help for rim protection; he was even a finalist for the NABC Defensive POY in 2019.

Everybody is worried about his knees, almost wonder if coaches and/or family members are imploring him to conserve energy as much as possible. Effort on defense absolutely is not the same. Don't think he's a top 15 player until he ramps up the motor on defense.

Speaking of the pay, i cant believe the hornets extended rozier to the tune of 97 million esp with graham on the roster and drafting bouknight. But i also didnt realize Terry led them in scoring last season.

Dont get me wrong, im super Happy to see the man get paid, he didnt exactly have it great growing up from what ive read about him from his time here.

They got rid of Graham.

Hornets became my second favorite team to watch last year and Rozier was definitely their best player. No surprise at all he got paid.

Maybe. And if you like No D until the playoffs, one on one or the two man game, with only the stars scoring and getting all the breaks. The refs calling fouls 5 seconds after the play because the star missed the shot, the clown acts by guys making a 3 point shot or a lay up and staring down the opponent, like they have done something, good for you. I think it sucks and is not basketball that i enjoy.
So you enjoy slower, weaker, less athletic and less talented players? OK.

Thanks for the correction I thought they still had Graham as well. I know lamelo was hurt alot, but do you think him and terry fit together? Worse thing about lamelo imo is just fearing hes gonna bolt to a bigger city bc he likes attn.

I'm happy Trae Young is locked up for years to come. It's ridiculous The Hawks had to pay the same as Dallas paid Doncic though. Doncic is a far more complete player than Trae is right now. The scale almost assures any elite player gets the max though. Whether he's 3 like Luka and Giannis or top 30 like Trae..same money.

Like a lot of things controlled by a union, the NBA pay scale functions in a way to ensure the lower and mid level guys are paid above their market value while the elite of the elite are underpaid. In some cases significantly underpaid.

Guys like Lebron, Steph, and Giannis have been waaayyy underpaid compared to the value they bring in. Luka is probably in that category too.

I think Rozier and Ball fit very well together. Rozier is a great shooter and a tenacious defender despite being a bit undersized. Ball has great positional size and generational vision and passing ability.

Really nice pair.

I thought Rozier and Lamelo looked great together. Same with Hayward when he was healthy.

Charlotte was an improved product when healthy. What gets interesting for them is when Ball takes that next step sorta kinda maybe like Morant did. And if Bridges takes a step forward...

Plumlee feels like a potential upgrade in that trade to back up Washington. Not sure how he rates on D but he's a good passing big that works the glass. Oubre gives them some scoring depth they lose with Monk gone. He is probably a pretty good defender though I don't have evidence.

You could see a chance for this to be a potent offense.

Agreed. That was a fun team to watch, but come playoff time they kinda blew it. They need a solid big.

Hayward was out for the playoffs.

They definitely need to upgrade at center and power forward. I personally think PJ Washington is trash and should never be starting on a good team.

They traded Zeller and Biyombo I think they brought on Plumlee.

My guess is they go Washington/Plumlee and that may not be good enough, you tell me.

I won't pretend to know how either of those guys rate overall. Washington was just a rookie last year right?

3rd year for Washington coming up . Had a nice rookie year, but didn't improve at all last year. Too small to play center and not a good enough shooter to play the stretch. Also not that quick.

PJ is decent but definitely needs to be more consistent. They need a legit big though, would be cool if they got even a Javale McGee or Derek Favors. Hassan Whiteside would be a good fit too imo. Would be a high flying team imo.
