The ACC is clearly the best power 5 team in the country right now

Since early January, the ACC is the only power five conference with a winning record. No...seriously...check it out. The B12, SEC and Big East are all exactly .500. Unfortunately, my B1G is the only P5 conference under .500 (thanks Illinois!). That clearly means we suck damnit.

If the ACC/SEC challenge were today, 14-2 in favor of the ACC this time around.

And no, Kentucky would still be in the loss column

It really could be one of the most god awful conferences I’ve ever seen. Absolutely dreadful!

If that makes you feel better when your team is hemorrhaging, then you should think about that. I’d rather beat a bad team than lose to a good one, but that’s just me. Plus how do you think Kentucky got the all time record it has? Now that the football schools are taking basketball seriously, Kentucky fans have become SEC fans more than Kentucky fans.

What is the sample size?

Dude, you have to give this narrative a rest.

Just because UK fans, and to be honest, the rest of the country, are calling out the crap the ACC has become does not mean that UK fans are all of sudden conference honkers.

It is OK to acknowledge how historically awful the ACC is, just like the SEC had many lean years. Are you all of a sudden an ACC conference honker because of how much you have said the SEC sucked over the past two decades? No, probably not. So quit acting like UK fans are.

I’m not a conference fanboy/ honker or whatever you want to call it but if the SEC does e repeat or similar to last year, get ready to hear it on all fronts.

If the conference does well I will have no problems giving props.

I hope the SEC falls flat on their face in the tournament. None of these schools in the SEC are rooting for UK to do well in the tournament, I can tell you that. No reason to pull for them, from my perspective.

I was hoping UNC was going to take out Bama last year. Didn't happen.

Speaking of last year, the SEC did have a representative in the FF, for whatever that is worth.

I’m with you. Like UNC UK is everyone’s Super Bowl within the conference so rooting for a team that you beat or lost too is crazy to me.

Given these data points, it will be embarrassing for the ACC if they don't dominate the NCAAT. 😎

I assume Duke vs. Illinois was the only non-conference game since Jan 1? 😂

Duke might carry the ACC if we're being honest. That team is solid.
Well, according to some on here, only getting 1 team in the FF isn’t good enough, so if duke is the only ACC team to make it to the FF, it means the conference failed.

Not good enough if you have multiple 1 seeds along with 10+ teams in the tournament.

It depends on how good those 10 teams are.

The BIG 12 was always KU and a bunch of 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 seeds.

But yeah, the SEC is going to get three 1 seeds and some others in the 2 and 3 seed range, they have to get at least 2 in the FF. Getting 3 in there would be insane, because some SEC teams are going to beat other SEC teams along the way.

The SEC is a minefield, everyone here knows that but MM is a crapshoot, a different animal.

I can see the SEC getting multiple teams in the FF or none at all. How many times have you had high hopes for UK then they get upset? The same with UNC, KU, and duke.

I don’t know how this plays out but I can SEC teams playing each other in the E8 and beyond if they can make it that far.

I’ll be chillin on the couch, saving a spot for all of you.

With Calipari as the coach, we always knew in the back of our minds the talent had to win, because Cal wasn’t going to outcoach anyone, so after the 2018 season, I lost all confidence in Cal doing much of anything. He pissed away so much talent.

As far as the SEC goes, this feels different. Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Missouri and possibly UK if they get healthy.

But it’s weird, you see these teams play so great against good competition all season, then something happens in the tournament and those same teams play terribly and lose to someone they should pummel, so I have no idea what's going to happen this year, but it definitely does feel different.

I think it's Auburn, Florida and Tennessee if they're consistent offensively. Alabama will be an early exit and Missouri is up and down. I could actually see Missouri make it further than Alabama, though.

The SEC is being hyped Because they're the only conference that warrants any kind of hype this year. But I don't think they're all that great.

Absolutely! By the metrics, the SEC this year is the highest rated conference ever. On the composite rankings on Bracket Matrix, the SEC has 6 of the top 10 teams.

We've seen the top conferences struggle in the past 4 tournaments. The Big 12 was the top rated conference in 2022, 2023, and 2024. They had 21 teams in the tourney over that 3-year stretch - and only 7 of those teams made it to the 2nd weekend. None of them made it to the Regional Finals last year. In 2021, the Big Ten was the top rated conference - with 9 teams making the tournament. And only Michigan advanced to the Sweet 16.

It's a whole new ball game when it comes to different teams and different environments in March Madness- and obviously the single elimination format. That being said, with the SEC bound to have so many top seeds, I do think they're bound to have a number of teams in the 2nd weekend. At a minimum I would expect 4. But, I could easily see it being 6+.

On the flip side, people often think if you don't play in a competitive conference, you'll struggle in March. Tell that to Gonzaga. They've won more games than anyone in the past 10 years. Duke plays in a bad conference, but that doesn't make them any less of a threat.

I'm amazed at how seemingly solid players wilt in the NCAAT.

UK did it the last 3 years. Some of our guys looked like they saw a ghost. Same guys that went into Tennessee and Auburn and won.

It’s odd, because the crowds are full of UK fans, but it goes to show you, the pressure is just different in the NCAAT.

Do you think it is all pressure or just had an off night?

Last year the SEC had a 3,4,6,7, and 9 seed all lose in the first round…..not first weekend but first round

I'm not sure, but everyone not named Reeves and Mitchel looked scared out of their minds last year. Shepherd was shaking so bad he just kept throwing the ball away.

A lot of it is freshmen wilting under the brightest of lights, but some of the veterans wilted too.

Oscar Tshiebwe did his part in 22 and 23, but the rest of them peed down their legs.

I think Cal was nervous and stressed out, it's possible that carried over to the team.

You watched that game a lot closer than I did. I personally think Cal should have taken that kid that was on fire out of the game with a dbl team. I think it was doubtful that Oakland had enough team to beat y'all without that kid. It is his job to calm the team down.

Our defense was awful all season, but there was zero preperation work done for that game. It was as if our guys had no idea what Oakland ran.

Zach Golkhe ran anywhere on the court he wanted and we let him. Nobody put a body on him at any time. You can't just let a shooter like him run right through your entire defense over and over and nobody even stood in his way.

But that was a different issue. Every single freshman wilted and so did the coach.

It was a stinker of a game for y'all.
