Dillingham is a playmaker, but 10% of the time he is a little selfish and plays wild. Sheppard is going to anchor Kentucky for 4 years, will be fun to watch. Team is pretty good defensively too, with the bigs coming back...top 5 in the country!

It’s weird how everyone only talks about Dillingham and Shep, when the real topic of conversation should be Edwards and Wagner.

Yeah, Dillingham made 2 or 3 selfish mistakes, but Edwards might be the most selfish player on the team to this point and for someone that is projected to be the overall #1 draft pick, he should be a whole lot better than he is right now. He’s good at putbacks and wide open dunks, that’s about it.

And Wagner struggles with shooting, he’s a good defender, but Shep is better on both ends of the court and it's not close. Dillingham is way ahead of Wagner as far as who is playing winning basketball.

Ewards and Wagner are prime examples of the difference between great college players/Dudes that win at this level and first round/lottery draft picks. These kids have future potential, they have height, length and athletesism, but that just translates to what they can eventually be. If you want to win big in collehe, get old and stay old.

But again, it's weird how Dillingham is getting critisism, but nobody, including Cal, is saying anything about the 2 guys that are supposed to be the best players on the team.

You think Sheppard will be at UK for 4 years???
Lance Ware didn't even stay 4 years and only a small handful of players have made it past 2 years.
If Shep doesn’t bolt after this season, he'll be gone after the 24/25 season for sure. He's a complete player and can score at all levels.

lol at the selfish lables. These guys are play makers. They're trying to figure out the speed of the game and what they can and can't do against div 1 players. If they're open, they have the green light to shoot. Dilingham can see and do things most players can't do. All 3 frosh guards play great defense. How they fight through screens is awesome. Disruptive as hell.

They keep coming at you and pressuring all night. It wears the other team down. NMST had nothing the second half. The upside isn't here yet, but its coming.

First game of the season and I was super impressed with the chemistry of our team. Great passing and ball movement to get open looks. I love that Edwards was cutting a ton during the game. I feel like that has been lost for whatever reason under Cal's most recent teams. I also feel like all the guys that get significant minutes have a good to great motor. The switching and pressure on defense was so fun to watch. Especially in person.

Reed Shepherd is an absolute stud. Its going to be hard to keep him off the court. Regardless of how good Wagner/Dilly are.

Tell me you are a fan of Reed Shepard without telling me you are a fan or Reed Shepard.
100 percent of your post about Wagner and Edwards is just dumb. That is the nicest way I can put it.

Reed Sheppard and Dillingham are simply better and have been in every game they have played so far. Obviously you don't understand how to read efficiency numbers.

Like I said, there's a difference between good college players and good future NBA players. Obviously you're too stupid to understand the difference.

I firmly believe Edwards and Wagner have a much higher ceiling than the other 2 and maybe they'll figure it out while they are still at UK, but right now, Sheppard and Dillingham are better.

It was amazing we ended up winning the rebound battle. It never looked that way. Didn't see much Dillingham 1st half because of fouls. I felt like Shepherd and Burks played within themselves and the team throughout and Dillingham, Wagner and Edwards came on in the 2nd. Wagner and Edwards will adjust, I have no doubt. Last night Wagner and Edwards were a little less than I was led to anticipate until late. It's going to be interesting this season.

The vets were steady throughout but hats off to Mitchell who was pummeled throughout the night but still pulled down 9 rebounds while putting up 9 pts.

Intrigued by Burks. I know he was the leading scorer on his Overtime Elite team this past season, averaging 27.1 points per game on 46.7% shooting. That team has some ballers now in the NBA.

I personally didn't see much selfish play last night. Edwards spun into traffic a couple times, Dillingham took a terrible contested 3, and Wagner took a contested layup when he had Reeves wide open for 3. Other than that I thought they all played well (other than missing some open looks). They aren't going to play perfect. I loved the motor and energy everybody played with. They may have taken like 2 defensive plays off the entire game. They were pretty locked in and I thought we showed a lot of potential.

I hope we have a great season and advance far in March/April. But this has the makings to be the funnest team we've had since the Fox, Monk, Bam team. They were a blast to watch last night IMO.

They are a fun team to watch. Even if we don't hang a banner, I think I'll still enjoy the journey.

Honestly, I thought Edwards would be better than he is right now and I know he will eventually be great, but he disappears a lot, looks lost at times and forces things.

I think a lot of it is the expectations that he (and Wagner) are trying to live up to that is causing some of it.

I don't get that at all. Wagner and Edwards both are playing within the team and making good passes.
Edwards will calm down and make more deliberate drives. Wagner is only shooting when left wide open and he's done well with that.
I remember folks thinking KAT and Davis were busts early in the season.

You called Edwards a selfish player based on absolutely nothing. You said Shepard was a better defender than Wagner and it wasn't close based on what? Wagner hounded the New Mexico St lead guard for 5 minutes. He then gets rewarder with Reed doing the same thing with no break. He was rattled in the first 12 minutes of the game from the constant pressure. It was a combo thing with Dillingham guarding the lead guy as well. Shepard turned in a great all around performance last night. Ware and Edwards were solid as well and last nights game against inferior competition is not the best way to make a dumb statement like you made. Exhibition games mean absolutely nothing. Your efficiency stats are worthless.

I just think they're forcing it at times. Like I said, they'll get it, but right now, Shep and Dillingham are more efficient players.

Jeez, are you Justin's dad? Lighten up Mr. Edwards.

All kidding aside, all you had to do is disagree with my opinion, instead, you decided to call me dumb. That’s kinda uncalled for.

Right now, Shep and Dillingham are playing bwtter, deal with it, it's just my opinion.

I think if you take away Edward's spins and whatnot, and get deliberate with penetrating he'll come along just fine. I saw nothing to complain about Wagner. I don't get comparing players, it leads to complaining more about lineups.

Uk fans are going to UK fan.

I thought both played pretty well for their first games. They had some Freshman turnovers and a few bad shots. Both seemed to be engaged defensively though. Wagner was hounding their lead guard. Justin got some deflections. Thats a good sign IMO because I think their offense will come as they get adjusted to college basketball. I'm sure they'll have a few clunkers and we'll lose some games. But, if they stay active and energized on the defensive end, I think we'll be a really tough out.

I like Justin's shot. Left handers have pretty jumpshots. Both will probably be streaky from 3. Justin needs to learn to drive facing the basket and quit spinning. If he can't beat his man, pass it back out.

Now let's build a player/student dorm. We created the rules. No need to have it lacking.

*
Wildcat Lodge

  • Wildcat Lodge was a dormitory built entirely with fan donations and opened in 1978 across the street from Memorial Coliseum as a place for UK's basketball players to retreat from being in the spotlight on campus. When built, it was considered one of (if not the) poshest athletic dormitories in the nation. With luxury areas, extra-large beds, individual rooms and showers being some of the amenities, it caught the eyes and attention of everyone, including the NCAA. The NCAA soon stepped in and decreed in 1979 that Wildcat Lodge was in violation of a rule which stated that college athletes could not receive better accommodations than what was available to regular students. Kentucky claimed that the rule was put into effect after the Lodge was built, however went ahead and accepted non-athletes into the Lodge in order to comply with the NCAA regulation. In addition, the over-size beds were removed, all residents were required to share a room, fancy sections of the lodge were shut off from use and personal bathrooms were locked in favor of communal bathrooms.
Later in 1991, the NCAA passed a tougher rule which was designed to eliminate athletic dormitories altogether. It stated that any dormitory, hall or floor cannot have more than 50% of its residents as student-athletes.

Saying my take is dumb, is damn near the same thing, it's certainly close enough. I too have thick skin, but that doesn’t mean what you said wasn't uncalled for.

Again, Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham are more comfirtable and are playing better than the other 2. When people talk about a guy being the overall #1 pick, you would assume they would be more polished that what Edwards is. Why you took offense to that, is odd. What I said was very true.
