Team No Sleep: Kentucky vs Utah

Should have trapped that twerp every single time he touched it. Dude looked nervous as hell every time he touched it.

What is it with UK and constant issues with refs?

I was commenting on the refs that did a terrible job overall. Not blaming them at all for UK's loss. Utah got screwed as much as UK did by the refs.

I hope Donovan ends up at Texas. I made that prediction 2 years ago when Durant left OKC. I’m sticking with it.

Last football school he went to he did a pretty good job at. Hopefully it'll be the same for him at UK.
Seriously though that would be an interesting hire. They have the resources and the talent base to be a real threat. Firing Barnes (which was fine) then hiring Smart has failed big time though.

UK cannot shoot... At all. Don't understand why Cal doesn't punch it in to EJ and Richards? Let Brooks roam the baseline. As a team you are shooting 29% from three---And you take 19? Making TWO? Yikes. Dribble drive is dribbled dead w/o shooters, and/or an elite PG.

Saturday could get nasty. OSU ain't no joke. Shoot 2-19 from "3" vs those dudes, and yikes...MOF, If UK does shoot 19 times from "3", vs OSU, they'll likely get humiliated. Unless of course they have one of those, "shooting out their minds", kind of days.

We should, I say should, be a better shooting team than is being displayed. We're great at FT's

Did you watch UK vs GT? Cal should have used the same offensive game plan. He put Hagans in the middle of the zone. Hagans would hit that little runner or lob it to Richards or EJ. Tech was on their heels.

Didn't do it once last night.

I think we'll be ok Saturday. May not win but it'll be a good game. For what ever reason the Cats were just not the same for the most part of the game. I think the last 3 or 4 games we shot only 11-12 3's. I think it'll improve when Juzang settles down and Nate and Allen start putting up a few.

The lack of defense bothered me more than anything. That's just effort.

I saw some of the GaTech game. I thought it was a great move putting Hagans in the middle. Not sure why he didn't last night. In fairness, Utah shot very well. But then again, they got really good looks. Seems UK didn't decide to defend until was to late. Not sure why, b/c that's usually a staple of Cal's: Defense.
Not so sure this will be a good shooting UK team. Hagans shot is ugly. No consistency at all. Quickley seems like a shooter. Juzang is---but he can't defend a fence post. And seems lost. Maxey is streaky. Funky, quick release. Seems he needs to slow his shot down? IMO this team would be much, much better off picking up the pace, then playing through EJ and Richards. Minimize 3-point attempts; Meh, maybe 10-12 per game? Certainly not 20. I'd like to see Brooks get more run. Energetic. Very active. Put him on the baseline, and run him off the blocks.

Just seems this team was badly assembled.

Saturday, I expect a fight. But I do know this---If UK from last night shows up? Yikes.

I watched the game. It was entertaining. I liked how UK fought back and had a chance. Much like UNC, if they can ever just hit some shots they will be ok.

Ya, watched the entire game. Pretty good. Bill Walton was great. His comparison of Kentucky to the Colorado river wearing down the ignaious rocks of the Grand Canyon was actually dead on.

The play was a charge. The refs position was that they called a block because they thought he was inside the arc. They reversed it because he was not. Not sure who’s fault it was that he was 5 feet outside the arc.

Geez, we didn't play defense worth a crap until towards the end of the game. No sense for that. How does a 7th grader get wide open shots.

Utah definitely fought better than we did.

We'll struggle with the zone all year, Unless Nate and Allen can hit some 3's. I have to wonder why Cal didn't use Hagans in the middle against the zone like he did against GT. Worked beautifully against them.

Absolutely the worst referee crew I've ever witnessed. It didn't matter which team, the calls were terrible.

Majerus was finally smiling RIP

A seventh grader. Doubt he is more than sixth grade.

The weirdest thing is......did anyone with actual basketball knowledge, really feel like smart is a better coach than Barnes?

Is that about fans trying to sink his business?

Yeah case was already dismissed and this is an appeal which will likely be dismissed too. Higgins really doesn't have a case, especially when the name of the damn business was related to his shitty ref job.

There’s not much to do in Lexington other than **** your sister and harass referees. Bless their hearts. :p

I realize this is just stupid smack talk, but I can't imagine thinking Louisville was some amazing city and thinking Lexington was terrible backwater hillbilly town. I'm very happy to not live in KY at all anymore, but if I had to move back I'd choose Lexington over Louisville pretty much any day of the week.

A quick google search comparing the quality of life between the two cities in any of the recent years seems to indicate that most would tend to agree with me.

I live in the Bay Area, and I’m just talking shit haha. I truly don’t care. Everyone has their preference on location. While others enjoy the serene country side, that sounds ****ing horrible to me. With all of that said, I’ve never lived in Lexington but I did live in Louisville for 22 years, and my family still lives in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville. Upon visiting both cities occasionally, I’d much rather live in Louisville. There’s just not enough to do in Lex imo. Like I said though, different strokes.
