Sounds like UCLA is firing Alford today

I think it's scary how good he would do there. UCLA would instantly become a problem.

I was all conference in baseball and I'm not making that up! I'll see what I can do.
I played baseball/football/basketball, at New Albany. Transferred to Borden for my junior/senior year. I started at New Albany(baseball) as a freshman/soph). HHC is some good baseball. What year did you play at JC?

With the talent UCLA automatically gets? You have to admit he's a good coach, I just doubt they hire him.
He would do well, not sure it would be anything to be scared of though. UCLA doesn't just get to pluck whoever they want from the west anymore like it used to be. They have to compete with Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Gonzaga, etc.

True, good post. A lot of the best players like to go out east now too, the television exposure sucks out there, still even Alford was able to get some damn good players and I think Pitino would do really well.

He was never a GREAT recruiter though.

I graduated in 2010 and I played varsity all 4 years in baseball. I played basketball for 2 years but baseball was my number 1 focus and the constant coaching changes really made it hard.

He would get some studs, for sure. You are right about the TV exposure, especially the games during the week. Athletics revolve around eastern time and nobody is going to stay up to watch games that go past midnight. I am on pacific time now and it's a weird adjustment watching football games at 9-10 in the morning every weekend.

I just don't think I could ever play my games while most of the die hard college basketball fans are already asleep.

Central time is perfect. Don't have to stay up as late as Eastern and get late games at a decent time.

Well aware of the coaching changes at JC. Basketball and baseball. Odds are, I probably called a few of your games. I always worked the DH with East Central. Had a big ass layout of food in between games. I've always had a good relationship with JC baseball coaches.

Do you remember Gabe Lowman? Easily my favorite coach, he was hilarious.

Oh, yeah. Great dude. Funny as shit. Gabe is easily one of my favorite HS coaches. He's been an assistant the pst couple of seasons, though. He was the HC, after Paul for a few seasons. He was the JV coach when I was working a JV baseball at Seymour, years ago. I had just moved back to the area. Anyways...he came up to me after the game, and was like--"you have a card. Would love to have you up at JC for some varsity.". Went up there 2 weeks later, and have been going ever since.

Paul Madinger was my coach while Gabe was the hitting coach. Paul was much more down to business while Gabe kept everyone upbeat. He was a great dude, I still go to games every now and then to talk to him. You won't meet a better guy.

I loved Paul. I had basketball game at Madison-Shawe earlier, and ran into him. Didn't even rergonize him. Had a bog ol, beard. He's working there now. Great, great dude. First game I have ever had at JC, Paul was on me pretty good about balls/strikes. Finally I say, "Paul, you've had your bark. And it ain't working today". Gabe walks by me an inning later and says---"Paul loved that". Told me, "I like this guy. Gotta have him back".

JC is one of my favortite places to go.

If I were the AD I’d go after Hoiberg or Musselman. Both would do pretty well there imo.

What does that article have to do with my post? Yeah it says undergraduate attendance has decreased but it also says that graduate attendance has increased which evens out overall student attendance and it also says that if the student section doesn’t fill up with students then they sell those tickets as general admission tickets to the public.

He clearly didn't read the article.

This is the first major job that Kentucky fans weren’t pumping Pitino....maybe because he’s not Louisville’s coach now? Laughing
