*****OFFICIAL NCAA TOURNEY THREAD*****

To be fair, don’t think many people or any experts had UNC beating Baylor . Plus Auburn was a 2 seed and was KU’s supposedly biggest threat to make the final four , that was a big upset by Miami .

Hoping for some good elite eight games .
Not many people are going to pick any 8 seed to beat a 1, but it was clear that UNC was playing really well, and Baylor wasn't as strong as early in the year due to injuries. That outcome didn't surprise me. UNC is #1 on Torvik this month.

Auburn shit down their pants late in the year.

Good showing by the ACC. Still wouldn't say that they're better than the Big 12 or even SEC.

To be fair, Providence shit their pants also, especially losing by Creighton by 30 in the big East tourney - should KU get no credit for last night then ? Plus UCLA was a strong four seed and UNC took them down as well - big prop to Hubert , seems very classy .

I have multiple Purdue fans in my life and they are a secondary team I root for on the reg.

We've heard you out.

Purdue played like a complete pile of dog sh!t last night.
I don't disagree. They played poorly. Especially Ivey. I mean, you could say if Ivey didn't play Purdue would have won. He had 6 turnovers and only 9 points. But no coach is going to bench their best player all game.

That said, my comments on officiating isn't just Purdue games. It's been all season long in all games I've watched. I'd say 90% of the NON Purdue games I've watched this year I walked away saying, "holy hell that was some shit officiating". If you could ask my wife, she'd tell you. I talk to her about it every time. It's just been shit this year.

WHoa, wait-----a fan of a team , from the B10, with a 7'4"/6'10" duo, is, I mean saying this????

Please, please, PLEASE tell me you are not blaming the officiating...PLEASE.
I'm sorry but what does the size of our players have to do with what I was saying? Oh wait, nothing! Official or not, you're an IU fan, and I highly doubt you're going to judge fairly here.

Down the stretch, it appeared the whistle was favorable to Purdue.

I didn't see any over the top physical play. Gillis came in and actually played physical for Purdue and he was effective. He and Williams were the only two guys for Purdue that played a competent game and Williams made his share of bonehead plays. Edey was ineffective and Ivey was straight up a no show. I can't even put it on Painter really at some point you gotta put it on the players.
Then why was Edey unable to get into the post? Why was he constantly 10 feet from the basket? Did you not see the replay where the defender was holding Ivey's arm? Sometimes I feel like people don't pay attention.

As I said in another post, this isn't just a Purdue game thing. This shit has been going on all season in all games. It's disgusting and needs to be fixed.

Jay Bilas has been bitching about the same things. I guess he's just a nobody though.

Sure, if they continue to let them be physical like this, they sure can.
They just fight so hard. Maybe they are shorter but so was Mike Tyson and opponents were shocked at how brutal he was. St. Peter’s has not gotten down mentally. Anyways, they are winners in my book. Only an asshole would root against them.

It shouldn't be favorable to anyone. It should be called per the rules. A foul is a foul. Just like the end of the Arizona TCU game. I thought there should have been a foul called on the last play in regulation, but they swallowed the whistle. That non call potentially took the win away from TCU.

Did you have a problem with travel calls missed on Williams?

Yes, if it's a travel it should be called. What a dumb question. I'm here bitching, saying the game should be called by the rules and you're asking me if I would be upset if they called a travel a travel? Of course! I'm a Purdue fan, but I'm a basketball fan first and foremost. I hate it when games aren't called properly. It ruins the game.

No game has ever been called perfect. This weekend was a lot better than last. Yay best, you hope for consistency and nothing egregious.

Your post was literally blaming the lost on officials. If St. Peter’s would have gotten the calls they were supposed to they would have still won also Even if Purdue got calls. You got out played because your guards were no shows.

I get that. You aren't going to get everything right, and I'm not asking for that. I'm asking for the rules to be enforced.

Bullshit. Please show me the calls that St Peters didn't get. You mentioned travels, which I only recall one. I pointed out several very specific instances. Get specific otherwise you're just talking out your ass.

Purdue plays a non aggressive D, which is why they don't foul as much as most and why teams tend to get more open looks. IMO, they are trying to play D as the rules specify.

Literally almost everytime Williams gets the play ball he travels. Shuffles his feet all the time. Look I realize losing is tough but you are acting like a compete sore loser today. Get over it. Hahaha at Purdue playing some specific defense. May want to elevate that up as your defense has been a problem all season.

Bullshit. That's such a lazy take. Travels every time he gets the ball. **** off. I'm pissed at the loss yes. I'm more pissed at the state of officiating.

Basically Purdue has to get 40 free throws a game to win.
Well when you're fouled and can't get the shot off, yes. Hard to score when you can't even take a clean shot. It's basic basketball.

I'm pretty sure I also said in my original post that Purdue did plenty to lose the game. I never fully blaimed the officiating. But it absolutely played a part.

Teams score all the time that get touched. Purdue is just a soft program. Which is why you haven’t been to the final 4 in 42 years. Purdue’s bigger problem is that your defense has been charmin soft all season.

You're deciding to be a troll. Got it.

Your defense has been a problem this season? No? Your defense is why you didn’t win the big 10. I can’t stop laughing at the non-aggressive very specific defense line as a talking point. Especially coming from a team whose defense is not good

Actually no. Turnovers has been the problem all season. The turnover issue has skewed our D numbers. It hasn't been a top tier D, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Kenpom numbers suggest. The Turnovers skewed those numbers.

The whole point of my comment on our style of D was to talk about why we don't foul as much as others. That's it, but doesn't surprise me you missed the point.

Providence shit themselves in one game. But I'm not claiming that KU deserves a ton of credit for beating them either.

I've thought the ACC was somewhat underrated all year, but I think some people are sincerely arguing that it's the best league. No, probably not. They have a couple hot teams. The same teams were very mediocre in the non-con.

I'm pretty sure Trevion does all that shimmying up top to distract the refs from looking at his traveling ass feet.

The goal of the regular season is to get in the post season. Being great in the non-conference doesn't mean much, particularly since most teams get better over the course of the year. Sure, winning more in the regular season increases the likelihood of getting a better seed. But it doesn't mean much else. The big difference between the ACC and the overrated B1G and SEC is that the ACC rises when the games matter most. Just look at how many national championships our league has over the last 20 years.

Oh ACC was def not the best regular season conference , I agree - but best conference of the power six during the tourney without a doubt IMO.

Maybe, but we're talking about three teams. The fact that Duke is good and UNC and Miami are hot doesn't mean that all 15 ACC teams deserve revisionism. The other top ACC teams just got spanked by mediocre teams in the NIT.

Eh, it’s NIT - does that really matter to the NCAA tourney ? But Big 12 was the second best in the tourney this year.

No one gives a **** about the NIT. Please don’t tell me you’re actually using NIT performance to make an argument. You can’t be that dense.

Anyone like Nova? Feels like everyone is on Houston. Picked Nova to win it all and not sure why they’re 3-point dogs. Tough to doubt Wright.
I like Nova also- but Houston is going to have the crowd advantage tonight playing in their home state vs a team from Philly.

He's not strong enough. Not enough bulk to get where he wants 24/7. He's not savvy enough to overcome it. He doesn't have the coordination to catch it outside of the post and get to the rim if there is resistance. Watch Bacot. Watch Banchero. Watch Timme. Watch Oscar. They don't get every call. But they get paint points. Their fans will tell you they don't get nearly enough calls. But they always get some calls. I don't want to run this dude down but you asked, and Edey is just not a high end player that can power through the challenge. Or maybe he just had an off game. It happens.

It's a contact sport, especially around the basket. This is how the game is played.
