*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Kinda wild that the season is already that close. I don't understand people who don't love fall. Obviously the best time of year.
The only thing I don't love about fall is it means.....

Boats, bikinis, and booze is better, IMO.

Edit: I guess bikinis might not be appealing for some portions of the B10. I'd rather see sweatshirts on the majority of Wisconsinettes.

Booze is all year long. Out here it’s suns out buns out. Trust me I have noooooo problem with summer.

It's the combination that's truly magical. I think I'm going to make a visit to Nevada.

I have still never been to Vegas but will vouch for Lake Tahoe all summer. Coldest water I have ever jumped in, but still a great place.

@MileHighSpartan how many spots do you have for 2019 class and who are your top priorities in order? Thanks.

Class of 3-4 most likely. Mcquaid, Ahrens, Goins all seniors, and possibly lose Ward.

We need guards, but we are on the outside looking in for a lot of our initial targets. Josiah James dropped us when he went to final 3. 4-stars Rocket Watts and Harlond Beverly both looking out of state. Hoping to still have some pull with 4-star Terry Armstrong who is originally from Flint, but is at a prep school in AZ.

Were also recruiting Vernon Carey, Isaiah Stewart, Drew Timme, Malik Hall as 4/5's.

Not confident on anyone really. Some say Carey is between MSU and Duke, similar for Stewart.

Thanks. I'd think the chances of Romeo Weems opening back up are very high as well. Just wait till DePaul loses a shitload of games to start the year.

I’ll admit Purdue football has been less than impressive since Tiller left. That string of bowl games under Tiller is still pretty impressive. If I am not mistaken, he took Purdue to more bowl games than IU had been to in its entire history?? Can you verify that for me?

Did Tiller retire on his own or did purdue admin fire him?

Still pushing for TJD as well. I would still be shocked if he goes anywhere besides IU but Izzo isn't giving up by any means.

We'll see. He seems like he takes bad advice, and might be more interested in a school with less competition at his position.

MSU will have Sr. Langford, Sophs Aaron Henry and Gabe Brown and potentially Marcus Bingham at that wing / smallball 4 spot his freshman season

I don't want to use the word "forced" because that may be too strong, but he and the administration came to an agreement where he would have a coach-in-waiting (Hope) for a year then retire. He probably would have only gone another couple seasons at most before retiring on his own, IMO. But the relative slide his final couple seasons expedited things.

The fact that Morgan Burke and the administration didn't let him pick his successor (Brock Spack) likely cost the program a decade of failure and lost revenue in ticket sales. There was no guarantee Spack would have ultimately succeeded, but he would have been a much better caretaker to transition out of the Tiller era than Hope's clueless tenure.

Gophers Non-Con is finalized (about damn time).

Not the greatest, not the worst.

vs. Utah
vs. Texas A&M (Vancouver)
vs. Washington (Vancouver)
@ Boston College (B1G/ACC Challenge)
vs. OK State (US Bank Stadium)

Those are the highlights.

Only one team outside the top 300, Nice!!!!!

IU has a couple of the worst of the worst. Chicago State and Jacksonville. Chicago State is just so so bad. The ultimate schedule killer even with solid teams around them.

Really do think my high school team from a town of 3,000 people would beat Chicago State every year, sadly not joking.

TJD canceled his Wake visit. This visit was not until the next week, so nothing to do with the hurricane. Decided not to waste Wake's time.
Love hearing this. Just want to get Hoosier Hysteria over so we can see what TJD and Brooks do. Love to see both commit.

They will somehow be worse this year too. IU scheduled a couple solid non-power conference teams like UT-Arlington and UC Davis to offset them, but its just so bad. We will learn more about Indiana in the exhibition vs Southern Indiana than Chicago State.

I think both still take that Michigan State visit. TJD then likely commits to Indiana. Brooks who the hell knows. I do think a TJD commitment helps with Brooks for sure.

Southern Indiana was a pretty damn good D2 team, not sure how good they are now. My hometown buddy played for them (graduated probably 3 or 4 years ago) and they played Purdue in an exhibition in Hummel’s 5th year and Purdue only won by like 11 I think. A lot better than a lot of D1 teams they played that year for sure.

I remember seeing them playing around the final four a couple times on CBS.

For an exhibition I will take it. IU will also have a "secret" scrimmage against someone.

Those secret scrimmages are extremely beneficial. Didn’t Purdue have a couple against Dayton when Archie was there? Maybe I’m misremembering.

That I am not sure. IU only did it like once during the Crean era. Make sense going against another good team instead of an NAIA program. At least every other year.

I think Purdue is having a "secret scrimmage" with West Virginia for maybe the 3rd year in a row.
