Your team was in a play-in game and nearly got 30 pieced by the first decent team you played.

That’s the relevance, there is reason Indiana was in the play in.

Because that roster is mid.
You are right--- there is a reason IU was in the play in game----but not the reason you think. Do some research chief.....

You keep bringing up that "30 piece " against SMC----Why? Good basketball team. But since you wanna talk about ass whoopin's............

What about the curb stoppin Illinois was givin by an 8 seed in the 2nd round, in 2021? Never even a game.

1 seed and a 4 seed-----ass whoopin's in back to back years, in Rd 2. Yet you wanna talk shit...GTFO.

IU's roster is just fine.....Wouldn't trade it for any other in the B10.

I should’ve said 5 years for it to be comparable to Groce. Either way, it’s been 7 years since the season you’re referring to.

Its been 17 years since Illinois had to pack for the second weekend...

Congrats that Groce was better than Creans last season, and Archie.....Throw a party my friend.

Two good seasons that ended in 2nd round ass whoopin's......And ya wanna throw shit?

At the end of the day, IU has more SW 16's and B10 titles the past 20 years.....Hell, the past 10 years. Hell, more SW 16's the past 7 years....

NO idea why some of you always wanna go this route? Indiana returns a lot of a pretty decent team---including the potential BPOY, probable NPOY candidate, etc....Top rated class in the B10. And you dudes get all pissy b/c IU fans think this team might be, could, should be, pretty good?

JFC....

You can’t act elitist before you’re even proven to be remotely good again on the court and then accuse fans who roll their eyes at this of being “jealous,” lmao.
What the hell is this, coming from Champaign? Havent been pat the second round in 17 years....One shared B10 title in 17 years....Missed the NCAAT 8 straight years(2013-2021)---MOF from 2009 to 2021, Illinois missed the NCAAT 10 times...

Exactly WTF has Illinois done to be proven elitist? What, win one Big 10 title in 17 years, get prison raped as a 1-seed in the 2nd round in your first tournament appearance in 8 seasons....

Yeah, that shit has elitist written all over it...

Indiana has 0 real wins in the tourney since Underwood has been at Illinois

🤡

Whatever we are, you are worse.

Sorry the truth hurts.

And there's a reason Illinois hasn't even sniffed the second weekend in almost 20 years.

Because their basketball program is mid.

A mid program is what you are looking up to right now.

After a 29 point loss in ten first round, I can understand why you boys are so angry.

All of this trash talk from a program that hasn't been able to win two tournament games in a row since 2005. Let that sink in. Hell even Crean made 3 sweet sixteens.

Sad.

Sad.
Yet you still have to look up to us.

Sad how far you’ve fallen.

You’ll get back to your “blueblood” ways some day…

What truth? That the past two seasons, Illinois has had some success? Ok----great. You missed the NCAAT from 2013-2021. Illinois had NINE straight losing/.500 seasons in the B10, until Underwood went 13-7 in 2020.

And congrats on having 2 "real" NCAAT wins in 4 years. ANd thats with being a 1 and a 4 seed.

Yeah, sure, IU has been worse.....No "real" NCAAT wins----although, well the record books disagree---So I'll go with that. BUt no one is arguing that. You are acting as if Illinois has been some type of juggernaut, when truth is, ya'll been good for 2 of the past ****ing 15 years....

Again, none of this has shit to do with this year...Its moot. WOuldn't trade rosters with any B10 team.

When will Illinois?

Oh, wait..............

Look up to Illinois---why? Because you've have two good teams since 2013?

17 years since ya'll been to the second weekend......

You dudes are Iowa, with a B10 title being the only difference..

Based on what? Over the last decade IU has more conference titles, more wins, more tournament wins, and owns the head to head.

There are plenty of programs IU is looking up to in one of their worst stretches but Illinois is not one of them.

Since Underwood has been at Illinois, we are the better program.

It’s just how it is.

And yet we are better than Indiana currently.

When will you guys get a non-first win in the tourney? Was your last actual tourney win when sCrean was at Indiana?

Two tournament wins in 5 years to one.

Congrats.
A “first four “ win, and then a 29 point loss to Saint Mary’s LMAO

Glad your expectations for next year are so high. Gonna be great watching you guys want Woodson gone when he fails to meet them

Maryland has a more recent non-first win in the tourney then the Hoosiers :p

Going to be interesting this season- Can MD make the tourney again after one year absence? Can Illinois finally make the sweet 16 again? Can the Hoosiers win the Big ten and make a deep NCAA tourney run, to make up for the Miller years...

Sometimes you get boned by the committee, Houston was a top-5 team by all metrics and somehow ended up a 5-seed. Not a bad loss in my book. And they are a top 5 team this upcoming season, which pretty much proves how talented they are/were.

Loyola was a bad loss, but were still a top 10 team on most sites by the advanced metrics.

Our roster is better suited for the tourney moving forward now that we can get up and down the floor.

Best wings in the conference, Probably top 5 in the nation in that department.

Figured, hell every team but Penn St, Nebraska, and Minnesota probably has a more recent tourney win. (Northwestern got a win that year right?)

Obviously no guarantees, but this year I’m more confident in the personnel to make a tourney run.

We have size on the wing and legit NBA talent at 1-4.

Agreed....I call truce...I think Indiana and Illinois could potentially be really good. I like our team...Need to find another shooter, maybe two. I think we can/could get that with Bates, Gunn or Kopp. Really shooting is my only real concern with this team...Perimeter shooting that is.

IMO., ON PAPER, Indiana and Illinois would be my preseason fav's.

And for the record- Indiana does have the talent to win the Big Ten- but do they have the coaching??
More like do they have the spacing.

The floor is going to be so congested. Best shooter by percentage will be Johnson’s whack ass jumper lol

A first four win is a tournament win, it doesn't really matter what you try to call it. Illinois has two tournament wins total with Underwood. Leave it to an Illinois fan to brag about that level of mediocrity.

Again, congrats.

FAir question----but I think we do. Woody was stubborn at times last year, and got stuck with that NBA subbing shit....Hopeful he gets away from that. Guys he thought, hell we all thought, that would knock down shots----Kopp/Parker, simply didn't; though Parker was a sniper early in the year. What I lked mostly was he(Woody) saw that shooting was an issue, and tried to address it. TBH, our offense wasn't terrible----kust couldn't make the three ball.

Lot of pieces for Woody---lot of talent. If IU finds a shooter or two, to go along with XJ, they'll be difficult to handle.

For what? Illinois lost their generational big man, they aren't winning shit next year.

I would have Michigan as the favorite with IU in the next group.
Eh, UM does return Dickerson but lost Houston & Diatebe.

Honestly, don't know right now who I will have second in pre-season Big Ten behind Indiana- no early consensus choice IMO.

2 wins more than Indiana than Indiana in the tourney, and tied for 2nd in the conference over that span behind Michigan.

We don’t count “play-in” wins here.

Maybe, you guys can get your first tourney win since Crean next year! It’ll be a big momentum boost for the program, you guys need it.

I think Illinois and Indiana are the top 2 for now, with Michigan/Purdue/Wisconsin in the next group, then Iowa/Michigan St/Rutgers

Definitely less top heavy than the years prior.

Have you seen Illinois roster, starting 5?

Skyy Clark
Terrence Shannon, Jr.
Mathew Mayer
Coleman Hawkins
Dain Dainja...

I mean, thats pretty good....

Depth could be an issue....But their starting 5 is pretty damn solid.

Indiana, Illinois and Michigan....

A team that has 2 NCAAT wins since 2013, shouts, "We don't count 'play in wins' here...

How many times do I have to say congrats? Again congrats on your zero sweet 16s in fifteen years (IU has 3).

Congrats on your first conference title since 2005 (IU has more).

You're talking down to a program that is currently in one of its worst stretches in its history, yet they've STILL been better than Illinois.

Also congrats on your .4 tournament wins a year so far in the Underwood regime. You guys are really tearing it up.

Congrats.

The posters in this thread made that decision in the 2020-2022 tourney, apparently you must’ve checked out due to Indiana not making the tourney.

Don't overlook PSU----My BIG sleeper. I'd put them ahead of Iowa/MSU and Rutgers.

Purdue lost to much IMO, to put them in the same tier with MIchigan/Wisky----and Wisky is, well, I dunno. If Hep breaks out, and he very well could, Wisky could be pretty darn good.

Lol Illinois had its worst decade in program history from 2010-2020 and yet we’ve still likely been better than Indiana since the turn of the century.

Get a real win in the tourney and then we’ll take you seriously.

Eh, Penn State does not scare me- really Hoosiers only Big Ten Team that scares me as a MD fan for next season- Reasoning being you guys smashed us twice last season, and return almost everyone..
