My bad, I meant win it.....I have no doubt dude will be a finalist.
Yeah I think it’ll largely be dependent on Tennessee team success but Stroud won’t be so far ahead in stats that Hooker couldn’t surpass him. If Tennessee wins out and Hooker is great (or even borderline great), I think he’s going to garner a lot of favor in voters eyes

Just wanted to drop by and see if we were still having the Brohm-vs-Allen debate around here. Any updates on that one?

On a separate note, good to know B1G hoops is almost back. I had almost forgotten what agonizing disappointment felt like.

Time to rip off that band-aid once more.

While I'm here - here are CB's Preseason Questions:

- Looks like the league title will likely be determined by whether Illinois' mercinary squad can coalesce as a team quickly and/or if IU's group learned to hit the ocean from a boat this offseason. Which one happens first?

- Is this the year Chris Holtmann's results at OSU match his outsized rep as a coach? Guy can clearly recruit but has very little hardware to show for it.

- Can Zach Edey and Hunter Dickinson lead their teams back into league title contention with largely unproven supporting casts around them?

- Can Kris Murray pull a Keegan? That's it - that's the question.

- Does Penn State make a leap in year two of the Shrewsberry era?

- Can a team win big with Malik Hall as option 1A?

Bonus homer questions:

- Can Braden Smith provide Purdue with enough production at PG? Or will the Boilers' talented frontcourt be undermined by shoddy guard play all season?
- How will Painter handle minutes distribution in the frontcourt? (10 demerits for the first poster who suggests playing TKR at the 3)
- Can Brandon Newman be competent enough as an off-ball defender to play 25 minutes per night? Or is he still James Blackmon Jr Jr in year 4?

Still look pretty similar. Ebbs and flows. Not bad for a high school coach at the most losingesting program in history.

I just watched an absolutely demoralizing Belgium film at the chicago film fest and this is somehow the most upsetting thing I’ve seen today

I ran a poll today on MSU’s homeboard on who our leading scorer will be, and Malik came in 4th. It went

1. Tyson Walker-32.8%
2. Joey Hauser-21.6%
3. AJ Hoggard-19.2%
4. Malik Hall-16.0%
5. Jaden Akins-9.6%

Tyson and Malik are the best answers IMO. Just look at the efficiency numbers, those are 2 guys that need to be taking more shots. Tyson and Malik are the 2 guys who I think have legitimately shown the ability to score from all 3 levels and have efficiency doing it, the problem with both so far in their career has just been inconsistency. Some nights they look all Big Ten and others they just fade out of the game. It’s more mindset than talent for them, whereas I have questions on actual ability to lead a team from an AJ (not a good shooter) or a Joey(not a good ball handler).

I think Walker's the right answer, too - and not just because he ruined a perfectly good Saturday for me about six months ago. Hall is a very nice complementary piece; but I don't think he's ever going to be wired to be the guy.

Holtmann seems to be quite the enigma.

Most Ohio State fans and national media believe he’s a bad recruiter. I haven’t thought that but it’s certainly not been elite until lately. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s picked up in a huge way since he made changes to his staff.

As far as 2023, I’m not anticipating a breakthrough season but fully admit I have no idea what to expect as they’ll likely be incorporating 7 new players into the regular rotation and 4 of them are true freshman.

Maybe this is the season OSU doesn’t have multiple key injuries derail a season as it’s done the last three years. Hopefully the brutal non conference will help them grow quickly.

It’s not like that isn’t a valid take. Michigan is returning the best player in the conference, and while most of the pieces look good, Illinois is an unknown as a whole.
I was just busting balls . I would personally not have Michigan ranked .

Illinois really hard to rate/gauge....Like you said, the pieces look really good, but how will those pieces fit? If they do(fit), Illinois is probably best team in the B10, and legit Top 10'ish.

When is the last time the big ten only had 3 teams ranked preseason? Had to have been awhile
Not sure about last time only 3 B10 teams were preseaon Top 25, But I do know this is the first time since 1977 that the B10 didn't have a team ranked in the preseason Top 10..

Purdue only wins the Big Ten when the conference is down and this is a piss weak conference this year, so Purdue will be champs confirmed.

Ohio State hasn’t made a sweet 16 since 2012/13. That’s crazy.

Really is when you consider how good of teams/talent Holtman has had...

He’s only been upset in the tournament once and that was the Covid year.

Matta only got to the Sweet 16 once in his first five years and of course that was the title game run in Year 3. Holtmann’s best team was also year 3 but it got wiped out.

It will be interesting. Underwood's teams usually are what they are at the start of the year.

Huh? Injuries? I don't recall that team suffering any big injury?

That’s the exact opposite of what anyone who watches Illinois basketball says about his teams. He has completely abandoned systems mid year twice that I know of.

I spent ten minutes writing out a quality reply elaborating only for Rivals to piss it down the drain. I don’t have the patience to try again.

Short version: Melendez, Hawkins, Mayer, Clark, and Dainja all have varying degrees of hyped-up, unrealized potential. I think you’re looking at a floor of top 35 with an upside of top 10.

Literally zero truth to this. We lost to Cincinnati by 20 something last year to start the season, and still won the conference.

Underwood has really struggled in nonconference since he got to Illinois.

Happy Antonio Banderas GIF

Yes and easily IMO.
Wow......I would go with his first team: 25-9, 5-seed....Couple of head scratching losses (PSU 2x) kept OSU from going 17-1......Bates-Diop and Tate----Very good duo. CJ Jackson---Wesson brothers...KyleYoung. Damn good team
