I agree your wins are more impressive but you also had a lot more opportunities for marquee wins. That's what I always struggle with. Mid-majors just don't get the opportunities for statement wins that middling majors do.

I'm sure I'd feel differently if we were on the bubble but I have always felt that if resumes are close, the nod should go to the mid-major. That may just be selfish though because I'd like to have as many opportunities for cinderella runs as possible because I think it makes for great theater.

The better resume should get in every single time. The fact people want to see worse teams in the tournament makes zero sense to me.

Pre-conference tournament Net Rankings:

8 MSU
10 Michigan
11 Purdue

15 Wisconsin

26 Maryland

42 Iowa

49 PSU
51 IU
52 Nebraska
55 OSU
56 Minnesota

87 Northwestern
99 Rutgers
105 Illinois

MSU and Michigan where I expected them preseason. Wisconsin and Purdue both higher than I expected. Indiana and Nebraska both lower.

This is my problem. They start letting these teams in a what incentive does it give for them to play tough OOC games?

If Belmont wanted to get in, they should have won their dogshit conference tournament rather than losing the second round to Murray State. That’s what the auto bid system is in place for. Indiana has a significantly harder route to an auto bid.

If you can’t win your conference tournament, haven 3 losses to teams outside the kenpom top 100, and your best regular season win is against Lipscomb, I’m sorry but try again next year.

Ohio Valley is the #25 ranked college in college basketball and they still get an automatic NCAA tournament bid. I’m not going to lose sleep if that conference doesn’t get two teams into a 68 team tournament.

Better resume is subjective when you aren't comparing true apples to apples.

Never count us below 4th, unless we are injured. You'd think people would learn after 17 years.

I can't wait.
For as good as Happ is, I'm interested to see you guys without him. Davison, Trice and Reuvers (who I believe has a high college ceiling) is a nice young core, and I think Ford and King have room for growth as well. And the lane may open up a bit without Happ.

Man, Imagine where Wisconsin could have been if Herro stayed with them...

Next year will be interesting to see once Happ completes his 8th year of college basketball.

I'll be very interested in Maryland too. Glancing at their roster, it appears they will only lose Bruno. That looks to be a great roster on paper(I know Turge is still the coach etc etc but still).

Spacing and free throw shooting should be immense improvements.

I now officially have no idea where we are going with this. We are talking resumes. It's a very subjective matter, which is what I've been saying.

I'd rather have both Hausers. Bo fvcked up that one real good.
For as good as they are, they're part of the reason that Marquette is so soft physically and defensively. Could be different under Gard though. I think it'll hurt them in the tourney.

It'll take a bit for them to find the scoring punch when things get tough, but agree.

The NET is one of many resources/tools available to the committee in the selection, seeding and bracketing process. Computer models cannot accurately evaluate qualitative factors such as games missed by key players or coaches, travel difficulties and other effects of specific games.

Each committee member independently evaluates a vast amount of information during the process to make individual decisions. It is these qualitative, quantitative and subjective opinions -- developed after hours of personal observations, discussion with coaches, directors of athletics and commissioners, and review and comparison of various data -- that each individual ultimately will determine their vote on all issues related to selections, seeding and bracketing.

Yea, that's one drawback, but they'll be really solid 4 year guys. Herro was looking for 1 and done. He also wouldn't help on the defensive end.
