College Refs man.

Sparty is better but geezus it was criminal how they officiated the post today. Did Ward every truly get fouled today? 4 fouls on Wesson were... ticky tack

It was criminal both ways. Some very questionable calls down low. Ward has gotten fouled today.

Not all fouls are created equal. They called four non fouls on Wesson which took him out of the game. I’m sure Ward was fouled as I was being facetious but he shot at least 10 FT’s where he wasn’t.

Osu is not that talented and wouldn’t have won this game regardless but Ward got away with alot today and it mattered because Wesson was handling him pretty good.

Hope this game doesn’t bleed over to @ Rutgers this week. This is just the 5th Buckeye game in last 35 days.

I look forward to Nick Ward's 40 & 20 game on Tuesday against Purdue.
he's been abused in his 3 games against us and I think he's due to destroy us this time around. especially with Boudreaux starting.

I can't get over this stat: Our starting 4 (Eifert) and 5 (Boudreaux) have 2 combined blocked shots.

I disagree. I think all but 1 of Wesson’s fouls were legit. Wesson is more physical than Ward and defends more physically .He is going to get called for more fouls. They called a lot of MSU guards and forwards for ticky tax fouls to keep the foul count close. Like McQuaid and Cassius. It was bad both ways. OSU definitely didn’t lose because of the refs.

MSU is the better team, but OSU could have won today, especially because MSU was without Langford.

This may be the only game this season where MSU has less assists than the other team.

This year’s team lacks a couple needed pieces but they should get better as the season goes on. I love college B-Ball so looking forward to the B1G season.

Aaron Henry is the best freshman wing defender i’ve ever seen at MSU. At least that I can remember

Possibly but this team is limited and not sure what their ceiling is.

Jackson got hurt and played like 2 minutes in the second half. Have to see how he is. I think they can compete if Wesson is in the game.

ANd not because they are good at it(which BTW, Purdue, well CLine and Edwards are good shooters). But b/c, well, its what they have to do. IU has multiple guys who can score off the bounce. We have Morgan and Davis in the post. IU scores off their defense. Purdue is basically Carsen and Cline, shooting three's.
Purdue has five different players who have made 12 or more threes this year. Nebraska is the only other conference team who can say the same.

The Big Ten is really good this year, but I think next year might be better.

In all honesty, who gets worse. Not MSU, not UM, not OSU, not Purdue. Not sure about Nebraska and Wisconsin. Iowa gets better. Probably Minnesota. Maryland gets better (assuming one of their front court stays).

We might be worse depending who leaves

You might be better than anyone at arbitrarily choosing cutoffs
That's sort of how comparing counting stats works. Are round numbers really that important of a distinction?

Borden: "Only Cline and Edwards are hitting threes for Purdue"
Cardinal: "Ackshually, Purdue has some of the best balance in the conference for shooting."
Hail: "Well that's arbitrary."

Even if Carsen is projected in the early second, I think most expect him to leave. Very much hope that isn't the case, but I'm not sure if he's wired to improve as a floor general / facilitator -- literally hasn't improved there in the slightest -- so he might already be at his ceiling in terms of NBA stock.

Illinois' frontcourt is about to do a 180 for next season. Finally, some good news.

Wesson threw at least 2-3 elbows / shoulders to make room for his shots, including one at the end which could have fouled him out even earlier. The announcers even brought it up a couple of times.

A couple of McQuaids fouls were pretty questionable as well, and looked more like OSU driving out of control.

The refs weren't good by any means, but I dont think it was called in anyone's favor. Wesson had a career day, and was very aggressive around the rim.
