When they beat us, you could just see they were on a different level. They’re just really good.
To be fair, Illinois' game play was to drive and challenge Clingan with like 20 shots which led to so many fast break points for them

Their offense reminds me of our 2015 team. Just great offensive flow, reads, actions. Smart and unselfish and can knock down shots.

UCONN is a machine. It sucks for Purdue that this UConn team had to be this year for them.

Sucks for Illinois too, as I do think this could easily have been a final four year if we weren’t in their bracket.
Definitely want to be elite when there aren't other great teams, and UCONN was just too elite this year. If only Zach would use his covid year 😂

Edey proved he’s a lot better than Clingan which wasn’t surprising. Guard play killed us.
I can’t find the stats broken up by half, but Purdue must have been badly out rebounded in H2. Biggest story of the game right there IMO. To win, Purdue had to win on the boards, limit TOs, and play D without fouling, in that order. They got 2/3, but the boards led to so many killer shots.

Yep our rebounding was subpar unfortunately.

True....But Clinigan IMO, held his own TBH. Edey struggled with him in the game at times...missing 7 straight shots. He made it uncomfortable for Edey, with his size...Zach had 37, but tbh, only about 16 of those impacted the game. And that was early on...

Just not enough help for him. Got away with that vs UT, but TENN doesn't have the defense, nor the multiple scorers that UCONN has.

What a year. Won all the big games expect the last one. Will always take winning the Maui, winning the big ten, and making a final 4/champ game and just losing to a better team. Very enjoyable year to watch.

Exactly. Nothing to be embarrassed/ashamed about. The better team won. Excited to see what we look like next year.

The rebounding killed us. They got way too many second opportunities that really hurt especially with us being neutralized from 3.

Agree...Huge area of the game.

At the end of the game, we can say this or that---say MP should have done this---or that---I don't think any of it would have mattered. UCONN was just that damn good.

Not at all. & same here. Think it’ll be kind of a mix between what Marquette and Baylor looked like at least metrically this season. Smith being our Tyler Kolek, looking to get out and run a little more and shoot a good amount of 3’s with TKR as the main post option. Should be a fun team.

Edey scored 37 on 15-25 shooting, apart from FTs he dominated that game. Purdue's guards added absolutely nothing and were the reason for the loss, Edey did not struggle lol

Offense will be different, more like the 2019 team, but it will be fine. Biggest worry by far is rim protection.
