I suppose there are casuals everywhere, but (1) they probably cheer for Notre Dame in football and (2) NU is really in danger of losing that distinction vs. us in football at this point, haha.
Exactly. In the Quad Cities you never see them in football when they are bad, which is all the time and see them for a couple weeks in the basketball season until they realize they still suck

You’re one off-season behind on me pumping Howard. I was pretty quiet this last offseason.

But he did it. There’s no asterisk in the books. They aren’t giving back the banner/rings. (Michigan notwithstanding).
Fitzgerald is self aware enough to not leave NW for anywhere that has expectations. He knows how good his gig is. He just has his agent leak that he has interest in coaching the bears every few years and they give him a raise, no matter how inconsistent his results are

Brooks was terrible before Juwan came.
Wagner committed to Juwan and never practiced a minute under Beilein.

Unfortunately winning with other coaches players and doing nothing else isn’t going to trick people into thinking they are good to great coaches.
Weber still has his rings/banners, but truly being respected doesn’t come along with it.
Hindsight is always going to be 20/20, and everyone will see Juwan was a mistake, IMO. We didn’t want to admit because we had just dominated the conference for 6+ years, but the warning signs were flashing with Weber as early as 2006 … literally one year after our best season ever.
Funny I tried to say the same comparing Underwood to Crean and that got laughed at. Here we are.
