****Official B1G In-Season Thread****

it's pretty funny that the 12 seed in the B1G has more Q1 wins than Houston
Also more than Maryland, IU, Rutgers, Illinois, Michigan, and Ped St. Only played 7 Q3/Q4 games total.

The bubble is shit most years. We've had to worry about it maybe 3 times in 20+ years. Will be interesting to see what happens. Win 2 in Chicago and I'd feel about as good as one can on the bubble. Win 1 and it'll be sweat city. Win zero and I think hello NIT.

What's your bone to pick? Everything he said was accurate, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year by all fans and pundits' perspective yet we still won the regular season title by 3 games. It was a nice surprise compared to the disappointment of last year's team.

Are you bitter that IU didn't live up to expectations of winning the regular season championship this year?
The short answer is yes. The longer answer is injuries did play into us finishing 3rd to some degree. So, context is important.

I didn't realize Illinois only had 2 and Maryland only had 3. Woof.

Interesting stats I saw for B1G games only:

Edey: 21.9 ppg, 13.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 2.5 bpg
TJD: 21.8 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 4.7 apg, 2.9 bpg

Head to head: TJD 2, Edey 0

Games against the bottom four in the B1G: Edey 7, TJD 4

Certainly an argument can be made for TJD to be player of the year.

Lol. Not saying he's going to win it. Just saying those stats alone make for a good conversation on who should win it. Obviously, the B1G Championship helps Edey along with some additional per data that I believe favors Edey. So, think it's a more in depth conversation on who actually wins it this year.

I'm assuming Edey wins but it's certainly closer and an argument can be made for TJD to win it.

Too bad POY isn't for B1G games only and never has been or it might be close.

Here are a couple more conference only numbers:

Edey 15-5
TJD 12-8

Edey 59.1%
TJD 54.6%

Edey 72.7%
TJD 69.1%

Head to head (which really is irrelevant to voters):
Edey 29.5 ppg, 14.5 rpg,
TJD 17.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg

TJD clearly has a better and more experienced supporting cast which makes what Edey has done all the more impressive IMO.

Why are we comparing TJD and Edey?

Don’t you guys have the best player in the conference? That’s who we should be comparing…

Most years TJD probably runs away with BTPOY honestly. Just sucks for him this wasn’t one of those years because of how insane Edey has played all season without really any drop-off. He opened a ton of eyes at the PK85 and just strengthened his case throughout the year IMO.

Yep. TJD is definitely a 1st team AA now. But the POY race has been over for a while according to the talking heads and the data.

The last player with a kPOY rating above 2.1 was Kaminsky in 2015.

2.1 is insane. But yeah no doubt TJD is 1st team AA.

Shameless bump because I will forget these by tomorrow otherwise.....

That doesn't matter around here according to @CardinalBoiler. Talk between your closest friends, being a loser and looking at your rivals boards or Twitter are all far game to criticize you for.
Well done. It took exactly four posts after this for someone ITT to make the exact argument you say isn't being made by IU fans.

I think you need to highlight that TJD's 5 assists per game ranks 5th in Conference play ahead of most the point guards in the league.

Comparitively for context, Braden Smith with the luxury of tossing the rock to Edey, finished at 7th in the league in assists.

Plus in Sundays tv broadcast they discussed that TJD was in the running for Defensive POY in the conference, a nice complimentary accolade.

I think TJD and Edey split the BT POY.

You realize Edey is also in the running for DPOY lol? Semi finalist for national DPOY.
